Thank you for all the little backstories you provided for the instruments, it gave me a much deeper understanding of the instruments and contexts they can be used in, good work sir :)
The emulator ii was used in the first Terminator score. The orchestra hit from the factory disks was used for that signature "da da dun da dun!" In the theme 😎
I own Arturia V collection 6 and just picked up their FX and pigments during black Friday. I was excited to see they had a new updated collection but when I looked into my account at my customer price it's $300. A little steep for an upgrade and considering I own all of their software. I would have upgraded at $200. I love the Arturia sounds but don't end up using them as often as I'd like since they kill my old Mac pro CPU. I think I'll just wait until a sale and use that money towards Ableton 11. I've been doing some Beta testing and think my money would be better served going to the DAW I use everyday vs. The CPU hogs I don't use that often. Thanks for the review. I now have a better idea of how the new Plug-ins sound in a real world use case.
Only found your channel recently, and so incredibly glad I did....Very helpful content, well thought out and put together....Little doggo is unbelievably cute....Genuinely, thankyou for the time you put into everything :-)
This is a very practical basic demo. I love that you created tracks using only the sounds on the individual synths. Like others mentioned, very Stranger Things vibe on the Oberheim demo, and that's a high compliment. Arturia should offer you a job.
Stage 73 is killer. The new update though is amazing, it responds so much better to different playing styles. I have no idea how exactly they did that but I'm not going to question it haha.
I think you have a good intonation of voice, beautiful timbre, depth and cliffs. You have a gift from God. You will be born to work as an actor, narrator, deep singer. As far as I understand, creating, ... a fallen idea, can only be created through a sequencer? Ableton, Cubase fl studio, and .......
Probably worth waiting for the next big sale as there are only a few new things. But, if you get in on one of the big Arturia sales (or wait a year or two and jump on a Black Friday) offer it'd probably have a ton more stuff to check out!
exceptional articulation, knowledge and music chops. Awesome Dude. I just got myself a Keylab Essential 49 and they graced me with Analog Lab V, the Stage 73 and Mini V.. I'm a beat maker and I thought it was a great value. It's pretty much the equivalent a keyboard workstation. Good times, Cheers!
I got the OB-XA in the cross over sale with the V7 when it was just released. It's amazing and I love it. I will be skipping the V8 though. I don't feel like a vocoder (TAL Vocoder is free, Mvocoder is cheap), an electric piano (eh... it's not keyscape or something amazing. And I have the XLN electric piano already), the 300th Juno emulator and Jup-8 update that should be free as the old Jup-8 is rather underwhelming warrents the 150 USD upgrade price for a V7 + OB-Xa owner. The EMU would be fun but I honestly doubt if I personally would ever actually patch with it. The new analog lab might be cool depending on what they actually changed. But I'm holding out for V9 to get more value for my money.
Exactly my thoughts. I've upgraded from V Collection 3 through to V Collection 7 and I'm a tad underwhelmed with the upgrade to 8. It also doesn't help that Arturia don't appear to currently have a competitive upgrade price. I think that I'll also skip 8 and wait for 9.
i wonder what the combined investment would be if you bought all these vintage keyboards? I can only dream of owning one but I already own V7 and plan on upgrading.
Haha I'd bet it's a few hundred thousand dollars or so. Not to mention the maintenance and upkeep, if you can even find the parts or fix them to begin with. A few like the Juno or Rhodes or Wurlitzer aren't too hard to come by and are in the price range of the 'average' musician I'd say, but yeah something like the CMI absolutely ridiculous.
@@VenusTheory the fairlight was ridiculous from day one. the film department at my university had a fairlight and a dx7 for use in student film projects. i was in the music department which had a roland 100 series modular set-up but a friend of mine roped me in to help with music and incidental sounds for his film projects. the dx7 was so interesting especially with the level of control over the envelopes of both carriers and modulators but that little led display was such a drag. the cmi set the film department back like $30,000 which would be around $60,000 in current dollars. i'd love to tell you about my experiences with it but there was only one i had, which was the same every time i went to record something for my friend, which was nothing. i went down to the film departments sound studio about 8 times and the cmi was always broken and awaiting repair. one time he called me and said "come up this afternoon, they fixed it this morning." by the time i got there, maybe three hours later, it broke down again while someone was trying to upload crickets chirping into the system for use in a scene. i finally took to calling it the fairlight cmu--chronically messed up.
Love the video and info here but did anybody else notice that 1 of the Presets was named "Lookin for Stevie"? That is kind of fuxked up but it was still funny! I wonder has Stevie seen this? 🤔
So if you purchase the V collection 8, do you have control over the parameters you see on the synth? Or do you only have control over the specific effects Arturia let’s you control? I have the free version that comes with Arturia Minilab where you can’t control any parameters on the synth GUI itself
Juno 6 is my favorite. I have the Tal U No version and the Cherry audio version, and had the Roland cloud version, but canceled that plan. This is perfect for me!
I love arturia. I just bought v7 a few days ago. Everything looks alright, but not enought to push me over the edge to get 8. I'll probably wait til 9 or 10. That being said, thanks for the review!
7 is equally excellent. I'd maybe reach out to thieir support though - perhaps there's some kind of grace period given the black friday sale just happened. Otherwise though I mean V7 is well more than enough content to explore haha. Enjoy!
Great video, thanks for going into these and the demo tracks do a good job of conveying the vibe of each of the synths. Touch too much whistle on your voiceover though!
They removed it sadly. My guess is probably something to do with the new sound engine and the new interface, but who knows. Not really sure why it was taken away but I didn't think it was too big of a deal as I just stack them in Bitwig.
I can't say for a fact, but probably due to Korg already offering emulations and they wouldn't want to license the name to Arturia to compete with their own products.
Great sum up man! Just purchased Pigments 2. I want Analog Lab if I can afford it. Anyways thank you! I wonder the 2 people disliked. I mean what were you expecting lol...
Glad you enjoyed it! And nice, Pigments is a powerhouse. Dislikes, no idea. I am pretty sure though I've got one person who dislikes every video as they were booted from the channel a while ago haha. Imagine having that much time on your hands.
@@VenusTheory Hahahaha...I am also in your Discord channel and found out the giveaway. Very very generous thing to do ( the challenge is very reasonable )All the best man!!
Thanks man, best and most entertaining coverage of all the new additions in V8 I could find. Also discovered Vital through your channel, so double thanks for that. In return I'll send you a lint brush for all that dog hair stuck to your hoodie. Also please tell me you sang bass in choir and just destroyed. Velvety vowels for days.
Now the big question: What do you want to see in V Collection 9? 🤔
Check out V Collection: bit.ly/3h9h7NI
Myself having money.
I think the website has some struggles atm. Not loading. :D
@@vidarhjal I thought it was me
I say the next synth to get an updated sound engine should be the Matrix 12 V, and the next instrument to add should be a Korg Mono/Poly
E-Mu Emax now that the E-Mu Emulator 2 has been included in the range 🤞🏽
Making an 8 track song for every new instrument... that effort made me subscribe
The best voice of UA-cam....
Always 😘

Massive production value gone into this. Recognised, appreciated, and valued.

Terminator 2 was Fairlight CMI 3 actually. The "Horn Falls" preset down a few octaves was the T-1000.
Must be wrong in the Wikipedia then 🤷♀️
The emulator ii was used in the first Terminator score. The orchestra hit from the factory disks was used for that signature "da da dun da dun!" In the theme 😎
In another universe Venus Theory is a comedy commentary channel with weird musical intros instead of a music channel with comedy intros
And has annoying high pitched voice
Pretty sure this is Marc Rebillet’s brother.
If you are not in radio or doing voiceover work, you should be!
I agree with you
YES
Yep great radio voice.
I bet his voice is just one of his hundreds of talents he has

Oh, No, Eleven is stuck in the Upside Down, but at least she has the new V Collection.
That melancholic melody starting at 18:00...simply perfect! :-)
Best voice recording I've heard on a youtube video!!
The emulator track was some fire RuneScape music
Underrated channel. All your content is high quality. You sir are fairly gifted.

You really are something.
Just bought the Arturia V8 on black friday special.
So I'm turning to your ever erudite review.
Great review! Thanks!
9:40 They actually said in the official launch stream from Arturia that JUP-8V is a total redesign and build from scratch.
The Jupiter 8 was my least used synth in the V collection for me but the updated version will get a lot of use! It sounds like a new beast
First video of yours I’ve ever seen. Perfect voice for some big time animation show. Great video too!
Every single project of mine has V collection in it. ❤️❤️❤️. Mostly the Stage 73 and prophet
