I nicknamed my stretch stitch, the lightning bolt stitch. It takes forever, but the stitch picture on the machine looks like a lightning bolt. It won't break. I sewed pajamas and clothing for my 3 girls, and they were well loved enough to become hand-me-downs. I got the great fabrics on sale with coupons, or went to the thrift store and bought a shirt that was the perfect fabric. My girls were tiny, so I could get away with that trick on all 3. I would take a small swatch from the pants and sew it to the back collar, a swatch from the shirt and sew it to the back of the pants. It taught Dad and my girls how to match their clothes and dress themselves. 😊❤

That's the same pattern I used for my girls, by a different company. I loved my pattern as it used 1/4" seam allowance rather than 5/8". It saved a lot on yardage purchase. I had a similar pattern for clothing. The main difference was the necklines and the different cuff choices. I found a couple other patterns that used cotton that used 3/8" seam allowance. I would mix and match pattern pieces, giving the illusion of different shirts. The stretch knit pattern, one had the usual sewing of a pair of pants. The other, you would put the right leg inside the left, RST, and just sew the saddle seam. It was easy, unless it was midnight and you forgot to flip the leg, and you've destroyed a pair of pants 😅, there's no ripping the stretch knit stitch! That pattern also used more fabric.

Thank you so much! I am grateful for your videos. Before finding you I had given up on sewing due to not catching on and trying to find someone to teach me with patience. You really have a special gift I call you my sewing Angel!!!!

I love all of your tutorials-and I've been sewing for 50 years- I always see some tip that I either didn't know or forgot! This time was a new one - I never knew that little black button was to level the foot!!! I have that on at least 2 of my machines!!!! Thank you.

I always remember when I was a kid, we had a lady come in for a school assembly who had sewn over a pin, which broke the needle and it hit her in the eye! She was blind in that eye and that terrified me so much, I ALWAYS remove pins when sewing xx

What kind of thread are you using for the headband? I have a small head and all the thin head bands slide off my head.

Brother machine, ball point needle, lighting stitch. Stretching spandex fabric and polyester thread.
My problem is my top stitch keeps breaking. Can you think of a reason why?

Just want to clarify- for a girl's twisted headband, do you use 2 strips of 16''x5" or 1 divided into 2 ?? Same info needed for the adult version please.

When I first started sewing I send over a pin the needle broke and hit me in the eye. My mom washed my eye out and the next morning my eye was red.
