The Phenomenal Growth of China, Vietnam, & Laos

- China, Vietnam, and Laos are growing at a phenomenal rate. At the same time, these countries are reducing poverty at a rate that appears to defy global trends. Although these countries are dominated by Marxist parties, they have developed an economic model that is a hybrid of capitalism and socialism. This lectures helps us understand what it is that they are attempting to accomplish in light of Lenin’s work on the New Economic Policy.
Lecture delivered at Diyal Singh College faculty seminar.
I've gotten 49 years old now, back in past while I was studying in Karachi university my main subjects were English literature, International relations and history. Due to bad circumstances of Karachi and political conflicts between different parties, most of the students couldn't complete their studies. it kept me with grief all those years, but after listening lectures of this humble and knowledgeable professor, I've once again started to get in depth answers of my questions which I wanted to know and explore during my student life. But remember one thing all these knowledge brings happiness in our earthly life, for happiness in the life of hereafter we will have to consult Quran and make and maintain relation with Allah as our creator and Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam as our guide. May Allah show and keep all of us on right path. Ameen.
Feudalism, Capitalism and Socialism के production system के बारे में बहुत बेहतरीन तरीक़े से समझाया है, जो एक Scientific analysis है .....।

Sir your way of understanding the things is very interesting and for sure your students are blessed to have you as a mentor.
Thank you Comrade, I have watched full video and now going to share with my friends. I will try to discuss in my group. Red salute to you and other comrades.
Share as much as possible so that the masses can be educated and understand economy in the wider historical context. This is the only way to get out of the trap our countries are in. We live out our lives with such narrow focus and nothing changes positively as a result.
Your students must be lucky to have a teacher like you ❤️
well explained in simply way of economics growth .😍❤👍
Bravo Sir!
Took my little brain to take more than 1:20 hour time to understand the whole concept, as I had to repeat what you were explaining to fully understand it.
Very good analysis. despite so many other factors, it is very important to understand why these three countries are growing so fast. learning is impt for us as a society.

Very well spoken. Laal Salam
Please also discuss WTO in any lecture. Your content and way of delivery are amazing.
Thanks a lot Prof Saab, this was an enlightening lecture on history of these economic systems. I would love to see a follow up on the next phase of State Capitalism evolving into socialism in China (prediction and pathway). Do we have any example of such evolution from past??
Second question is how innovation or growth happens in state capitalism and socialist model. Does govt institutions run enterprising business and biz development plans and bet on them? It’s one thing to take successful companies or assets and nationalize them, quite a different to run successful ventures decades after decades. And also come up with something entirely new like software or internet etc. how that enterprising engine is gonna work, when private wealth power and decision making is completely off the table?? Again, do we have any comparable example of that in socialist counties or history?
Thanks.
Thanks for this lecture
Taimoor Sahib it's a very humble request and would be much appreciated if you could make the a video lecture on "World Without Money."
Discussing the challenge that money is the reward that motivation for new invention, and other related aspect. I can not understand the fact that a piece of cotton and linen inked with symbols holographic stripe with a claim that it is issued on with a value of GDP foreign reserves metals like gold and silver. We can see in history the inventors like Nikola Tesla, never had the greed for money, but did it all for the sake of his passion.
Many inventors talents are wasted because they can not find a investor who thinks that the invention cannot make them profit.
There are people who cannot achieve their dreams, as the system forces them to achieve it via money.
Sar, very appreciable.
One thing more that study of das capital volume 2 and 3 is settle left. We are waiting for volume 2 and 3.

Dr, Taimur: A question for you,
- If Capitalism is so bad and evil for working class - Labour, farmers etc, then why don't we see any large scale organized movements in the Capitalist nations like US, UK, Germany, Japan etc. Shouldn't Labour and farmers be taking out Long Marches, striking work, starting revolutions against the oppressions of evil Capitalists?
You should see the history of the labour movement of these countries. The welfare state was created because of large labour movements in these countries.
@@Taimur_Laal This does not answer my question. Are you implying that Capitalism is acceptable under a welfare state? All the Labour movements in these countries were aimed at better Labour laws, working conditions, safety, rights, unions etc and none was aimed at toppling Capitalism
@@Faraz70 I think that welfare states contributed to the development of capitalism, and the socialist basis in China also contributed to developing the Chinese-style market economy. A high level of education and a high level of health for the working class make capitalism work.
Communism is not only the antithesis of capitalism. I believe communism is an evolution of capitalism.
I guess its because the labour populous are “decieved” to believe that capitalist system is natural and normal. Take my guess with a grain of salt.
Can you also comment on progress made by South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia?
Coincidentally all these countries are also East Asians countries, but dominated by Chinese, which is source of tension in Malaysia. .
So, are there any Chinese values which are helping these countries grow?
Wow....❤❤❤
One of my friend commented on it when I shared this video, I would like to hear you on it, he says -
He seems to be drawing a parallel between the NEP practised by Lenin and path currently followed in China, where Taimur Rahman thinks that political power is still with proletariat which is controlling and managing capitalism. Questions are whether working class is the ruling class or an exploited class whose labour is exploited for earning profit. Also the role of China investing in other underdeveloped countries where it appears to be an imperialist power, needs to be discussed and understood .
Plzz suggest some books on south asian politics n economics

I have spend 5 years in china where we were using american technology for making hybrid electric car. They bought the right of that technology in 2000 and now you can see electric vehicle everywhere. Chinese are hard-working people and the most important each sector has relevant field expert. Not like fawad chaudri is the science and technology minister and zartaj gul is the environmental minister. To make a prosperous pakistan will always be a dream. The reason is we are hypocrite with our own soil, we have no love for our country.
Sir Book Name?
Sir, Please also tell us that , how much loan Pakistan has received from IMF and world Bank and China and how much interest we have paid since independence. Couldn't it be better for us to bear poverty and become self-sufficient instaed of getting these loans which couldn't help us establishing a modern education system for us. Waiting for your answer.
When you said liberalism is rational base , it made me confused as I have studied it is idealistic approach in world affairs . Even called utopian ideology. Kindly clarify my quandary . realism is rational based ??
Ok I got it after reading the difference between liberalism and neoliberalism, and you are just talking about economic system of neoliberalism not the political ideology behind it
Sir! Someday also talk about Taiwan, which is more prosperous and rich in per capita income as compared to these communist states. And ,interestingly, is a liberal democracy and is thriving economically. Isn't it the answer to the State led communism-cum- Dictatorship. May be the biggest threat to communist china is the exportability of democratic norms from Taiwan to mainland china.

China controls capitalism instead of being controlled by it. China is aware that Vivo in India has siphonned off Rs.62,000 crore to China. This makes China rich. China also controls Jack Ma. And so on...
China is doing what Mao wanted: Taming capital. Deng Xiao Ping said let me create money first if you (Mao) want to tame it. Today China is creating and taming capital. Well done! ❤👍👌👏👏👊👊✊✊

This person needs more research on this topic,
Whole lecture in a nutshell:
"Communism can't be established without Capitalism."
Whole lecture in a summary:
"Marx writes socialism is cool capitalism sucks. Wants to create Communism(society where everybody's equalized) via Socialism by nationalizing productions(state ownership). Lenin becomes a Commi and established a Communist government(1917) in Russian Empire, initially bought Communism( war Communism) but rebellions and lack of production occured which led to his plan 'B' to bring Communism step by step and in these steps include many versions of Capitalism. Thus bringing Capitalism in 1922 (NEP), and because Lenin used Capitalism to transform it into Socialism then it is also justified for East Asian Communist countries to have some sort of controlled or free capitalism."
These are my observations.
I don't think Marx wrote "Socialism Cool Capitalism Sucks"
@@stophindiimposition6246 Yep he just wants to sound cool.

No. Wolf’s thesis is that Soviet Union never achieved socialism because the decisions regarding the economy were taken by a the state economic planning. Whereas Lenin is clearly saying that there are 5 sectors - the last being a socialist sector. The debate with Wolff and Resnick is about the character of this last sector.
Also interestingly, while Wolff and Resneck consider cooperatives as the basis of socialism, you can see that Lenin calls peasant cooperatives as state capitalist.
These ideas are completely the opposite of each other. But you have to dissect these things to see it.
