Glad to see the Maliketh fans are finally coming out of the woodwork. I've been trying to make a cover of this song for a hot minute but it is a *really* complicated song.
He is probably one of the best spectacles and the most pitched fight of them all with his speed, savage combo swings, and he carries forward the Fromsoftware tradition of aggressive, wolf-style fighting being incredibly cinematic.
@@willow7380 Maliketh's health is his second major shortcoming to his poise: he's surprisingly easy to stance break despite the relatively difficulty of getting in heavy hits between his chains. His lower health is somewhat balanced by having good absorpotions, he's pretty resistant even to regular damage and more so to everything else.
I couldn’t agree more, listening to that part makes me imagine fighting him with my own set of weapons along with red and black fire. All while flying through the air with him and clashing weapons as equals
Then got busy with herself and broke the world by having twins. One twin said I'll be ultra manipulation of the world.the other went blind and learned a cool dance move. Both are gay
Even if it took me a few playthroughs to really appreciate him, I feel confident now saying that Maliketh is my favorite boss in this game alongside Morgott and Rykard, and this soundtrack is amazing. Paired with how he fights, I can't help but be reminded of Gael and Artorias, and the translation between phases is an amazing call back to Ludwig. Overall, one of the best one-on-one duel type bosses they've done and one I hope gets more attention for his quality going forward
This really brings out the very idea of Maliketh. He's a tragic character that has an even more tragic duty to fulfill. But that doesn't stop him from owning it every step of his journey, until he meets his match, and must wield Death itself to face the Tarnished. This music seems somber and tragic at first but climbs to greater heights, such is befitting of Death.
Someone else brought it to my attention, but the female vocalist is surely a reminder to us of Marika's importance to him. It's a subtle detail but I love it, and this is my favourite fight as well.

This is so good! Maliketh is my favorite boss ever. The ost for his battle literally gives me goosebumps even now thinking about it. Something fromsoft should think about for us fans is giving us the ability to replay bosses without having to start a new game. I love the boss battles and I would replay maliketh over and over again if I could. Him being the embodiment of death is perfect! I always use the magic ability you get from him. As my elden lord character I made it my own lore that I take up his powers and driver death through the lands between.
There a mod for this on Nexus called "Boss Resurrection". It works, and it's awesome. Now I can go back and fight Placidusax with the modded Bolt of Granssax :D
@@TheStraightestWhitest even his lore hits hard, its such a shame marika primarily used him to guard destined death (which is a great responsibilty on its own ofcourse) but i still feel she could have utilised him more.

I always wondered why she didn't simply use him to crush the Elden Beast as he most certainly could have, especially alongside her, and the reason why was pretty simple: Because he'd refuse. He already despises her for breaking the Elden Ring. I don't think he'd have gone along with her plans. Because unlike other Shadows, he wasn't made by the Two Fingers. He serves through oath, not magic. Marika's betrayal of Maliketh was doing exactly what you said. She didn't just have him guard the Rune of Death because it meant it'd be safe from anyone not called our Tarnished, she also did it because she herself would be safe from him as she turned against the Order he served.

When disrobed, his body is almost that of a sleek Bear, and his face a mix between Jaguar/Wolf, only bearded. He looks mean as fuck without the armor.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Makes sense, since he teaches us beast incantations, i think after the donwfall of farum azula maliketh was choosen to be marikas sworn brother and not her half brother, cause i have seen a post that its a mistranslation. i also belive that serosh is also a beastman, but then there is the question why they both look so different from the other beastman
@@Cl0WNSOULZ Well Serosh is dubbed lord of beasts, but he does not seem much like a Beastman. Beastmen are intelligent bipedals who wield magic and can talk. Serosh seems more like a typical lion, who is also dubbed king of animals despite not nearly being the strongest or most unique. I think they're a separate kind of beast. The Beastmen are unique to themselves, while Serosh is likely just king of lesser beasts like the lion warriors.
One year later and I’m still wishing I could just replay maliketh over and over again. New idea, fromsoft should do an anime based on him just so we can see him fly around throwing death strikes at everyone 😂 I’m still in love with this! I actually took one of my previous play throughs and purposely died over and over again at the end before he died so I could just replay him again and again lol. Still wishing fromsoft will give us the ability to just replay boss battles for the fun of it. I’m sure they could easily add it into the round table as an optional activity and you can select any of the big bosses to battle. Ugh a man can dream…
i join people just to solo maliketh for them, partly because people are absolute trash at him but mostly because Its just an excuse for me to fight him longer
It would be even more epic if he was an optional boss that actually killed you for good, or reduced your stats by 50% each time but not your soul level making each death more costly than the last to keep strength enough to challenge the black blade. Destined death should be more of a threat like how its portrayed in the lore even a tarnished cannot escape it's cold grasp unscathed
So much artistic capital went into Maliketh. His arena and design are beautiful and his lore is peak dark fantasy.

I’ve loved him since the first time I ever fought him, I might get either his or Fortissax’s remembrance tattooed on myself.

This fight it self felt like a dance. Once he transformed it was nothing more of who will hit who to finish. Love this fight.

I can’t wait to get elden ring and fight this badass wolf boss. His theme and fighting style looks so beautiful and flows so amazingly
With the tone variation I love that I can hear new bits like the high note strings at 4:19 followed closely by the trumpet, really adds to the theme
Oh…this is my personal favorite OST in Elden Ring so this is quite a find. Maliketh and his OST will forever send chills down my spine.

that would be too op, would be better if he cursed you like in ds1 and you needed a purging stone to repair the curse
