In this video, I will be telling you a faster method of shiny hunting the Pokemon Colosseum Bonus Disc WISHMKR Jirachi! This method can effectively take a 10-12 minute reset all the way down to a 2 minute reset! This turns shiny Jirachi from one of the hardest shiny hunts ever to simply a more advanced shiny hunt than average! you dont have to sit through the whole cut scene as soon as the screen turns black (aka when the animation begins) restart the gameboy and you should have the jirachi

This method 100% works! After spending about 17,930 Jirachis doing it the long way on-and-off since 2014 I gave this method a try and I finally got my shiny Jirachi last week at 21,015!

Thank you for making this video. At some point I'm going to be working on a shiny living dex and thought that I'd have to resent the entire game in order to get a new Jirachi.
Yo, this is pretty smart, dude. Kudos on yall for figuring this out. Wish there was a simpler way to get Pokemon Box or Manaphy shinies lol. Resetting a file AND hatching eggs was too much haha
If you get an r4 card and play through ranger a bunch you can effectively limit the amount you need to reset your save files. I bought 6 copies of ranger online and used an r4 for the rest of my eggs so I could hatch 8 per save file. That being said you still need to trade and hatch the eggs over and over it just makes the encounters feel like they're going up significantly faster.
@@ThedomiNATION that's a valid point! You still have to make new save files though each time you trade it over though for the new TID, correct? When I did the first Surfing Pichu, I made sure to do it in-game on an actual American Pokemon Box. The natural process is something else lol.
Yes you do have to make new save files you just get more hatches per save file. I'm all for super rare shinies so I plan to do Jirachi and return to Manaphy at some point!

Yes that is true. Jirachi has a set of pre determined combinations that you can get instead of true rng and 9 of them happen to be shiny. It makes the odds of getting the shiny slightly higher than full odds though!

I found a setup, which works every time! It can be achieved by saving once, then changing the frame of the game and then saving again! :D Dunno if the frame-changing is really necessary, but i dont feel like risking a reset to find out :p
What do you mean by changing the frame? Do you mean just waiting a bit before resetting each time, trying to make sure you hit different frames each time?
I meant changing the frame of the chat-boxes. Turns out i was just flat out wrong, you don't need to wait between saving each time :p

I haven't done this in a while but I think you have to have 3 saves the first time then for the future ones only 2 saves no more or no less or else it keeps the jirachi I;ll find out soon enough because I'll be resuming the hunt tonight but we shall see
I have a question. Does this work with a dry battery Ruby or Sapphire? Or will the same jirachi be generated each time because of the broken RNG seeds? Not sure if you’ve found this out or anyone else has
I've been told that a dry battery does not affect the rng of Jirachi because its rng is totally different from the rest of the game. You can always check to see if the nature and stats change after doing it twice.

There is also a Japanese Pokemon Colosseum Special CELEBI bonus disc that works basically the same like this one
Unfortunately to use the Celebi disc you have to have beaten the elite four on a Japanese copy of Ruby/Sapphire and caught every single shadow Pokémon in a Japanese copy of Colosseum and be using the same memory card the colosseum save file is on when you put the Celebi disc in. You could SR for it but it’s gonna take a lot more effort

i seen your 2 video because I'm going to shiny hunt jirachi in the future and i just wanted to ask 3 question
1.What kind of cable do i need to connect my gameboy advance sp to the wii
2. do I just need the bonus disk of jirachi I don't have to play the story mode of colosseum in order to active the bonus disk?
3. does the bonus disk still work on a wii like I don't need like a special wii app so I can use the bonus disk since it a game cube disk?
I explain the cable you need at the beginning of the first video. The colosseum bonus disc is completely different from colosseum the game so you do not need to play the game at all. There's no special software for the Wii. Just put the disc in and it'll load normally.

i didn't have the cable, gamecube, or the bonus disc in real life but i was able to shiny hunt jirachi on the dolphin and visual boy emulator and it work i was able to to get a shiny jirachi and made a back up file to put it into my ruby game on my ds lite
Interesting, I hope this helps many people hunting it actually manage to get one! I RNG'd for my shiny WISHMKR Jirachi, and even with RNG it took me over a month to actually hit the shiny frame. Big respect for anybody soft resetting for it.
Bruh, does that mean you have the bonus disc? How much would I need to pay for you to part with it?
@@NitroNinja324 I found it on Ebay back in 2016. Not sure if I wanna let go of it though. I think the GC-GBA link cable is just as difficult to get. It might take a while but if you check online once in a while you should find it eventually

I’m honestly not sure. The jirachi you get is from a set of pre determined jirachi but I wouldn’t know if the dead battery affects that rng. I would recommend replacing the battery just in case! There’s special battery holders you can get on like eBay that you can solder in and then never have to worry about it ever again as the battery is simply held in and not soldered in!

Do you also need to to have a USA copy of ruby or sapphire? And also a US gamecube/Game+bonus disc?
I would assume all English copies work the same. That being said I looked it up and the GameCube/Wii are region locked. Also I tried this on a Japanese copy of Ruby and it didn’t work
I can never get it to roll back to the pre-Jirachi save, it always leaves me with 2 entries even after the corruption. Is there something I'm missing? I get my Pokedex, save twice, get my Jirachi, check, start to clear my save and turn off immediately, and reset to still find myself on my primary save.
It isn’t guaranteed to work every time. Maybe it’s just down to timing. I would keep trying making sure you save twice before receiving Jirachi as I have heard doing that makes it the most consistent
@@ThedomiNATION I was actually just able to get some, I had to save just once on the fresh save and I wildly threw in the border change I've seen some people talking about, from there the double save method worked normally, thanks!
I wonder if this trivializes RNG manip for the Jirachi. Surely with this method you could just chill in front of the professor and double save with the 2nd on the correct frame, right?

I did some sr for jirachi with this method and I'm not 100% sure but for the corruption if you are too fast the game says the save Is corrupted but the jirachi will still be there .
For too fast i mean resetting at the same time or almost of pressing A.

I keep having this issue. It doesn't seem to matter if its too fast or too slow. I've gone fast and it happens and I've gone slow but it still happens. Sometimes It'll work 10-20 times a in a row and then without warning or reason bam, it wont work and I need to restart the game 3-4 times without it working again. Its not clear if its user error or method error at the moment but damn having to restart the file without a clear reason why is really starting to eat at me.
Does anyone know if the corrupted save file makes it not able to transfer to the pal Park in HeartGold SoulSilver?
Once you get the shiny, if you save a couple more times, it should be completely fine, as saving overwrites the corrupted save
do you think this method will work for the Pokemon Channel Jirachi? (live in AUS and i'm pretty sure my wii won't run the bonus disk)
Yes but it’s a lot riskier as I’ve heard to get the Pokémon channel jirachi you have to beat the elite 4 first in Ruby/Sapphire. Meaning if the save file corruption doesn’t work and doesn’t load your game before you already received jirachi, then you’d have to beat the entire game again

I did about 10 resets with double save after frame change, it seems to work very consistently for me on my regular GBA. Going to try with the Game Boy Player once I fix the disk read error on my main GameCube and dig up my other power brick. The main GameCube needs its capacitors changed.

I was on my second cycle through the Game Boy Player while tired and just blanked and let the file erase. Was able to do the first cycle using only the Reset button on the GameCube instead of the power button, which saves the GameCube boot frames. Basically the same time to attempt
Quick question: for people using the GameBoy player, when it comes time to hard reset (turn off the power), do we need to turn the GameCube all the way off and back on again, or does the reset button work too?
I’m not sure. Can you even connect a GameCube running the bonus disc with another GameCube running the gameboy player?
@@ThedomiNATION I'm fairly sure but I haven't tried it yet, I'll letcha know once I test it out.
@@ThedomiNATION Just confirmed you can connect a Wii with the bonus disk to a GameCube running the GameBoy Player, and the distribution does still work. Couldn't get the save corruption to work with the reset button, not sure if I just mistimed it or I need to try a hard reset.
@@n0lain that’s crazy that you can connect it. As for the corruption. I would try powering off the GameCube entirely instead of resetting. And I would try it a few times just to be safe
@@ThedomiNATION Just did that and it is confirmed to work :-) tested twice.
Hard reset is required, which does add some time to the reset in my case since I'm using a hacked memory card with a Melee disc rather than an official GameBoy Player boot disk, about 20 seconds total added from the GameCube logo animation + booting into Melee and menuing. I know the hacked memory cards work with other game discs too, and some might have slightly faster menuing. Not sure how fast hard resets are with the official boot disc, would be interested to find out if anyone else can test.
Very cool that this is an option, makes streaming/recording the hunt a lot easier

It should! The only issue with Pokémon channel is that you cannot receive jirachi in Ruby or sapphire until you beat the elite 4. So if the save file doesn’t corrupt properly, you’ll have to play through the entire game again!

@@m3x_repel yeah lol. Not many people have attempted the Pokémon channel jirachi but it allegedly is complete rng and will have unique stats and nature as opposed to the colosseum bonus disc Jirachi which can only be a set of like 9 pre determined shiny jirachi that you can potentially get!
This worked for me the first time i tried it, but for some reason every time since then it says the file is corrupted but I’m still left with 2 in my Pokédex. Any ideas of what I’m doing wrong or can do to not run into this problem?
I've heard people say that after they save multiple times and change the frame of the menu, it can work every time. But I have not tested this yet.

Idk which of those aspects really made that much of a difference, but after that i changed the frame, saved, changed the frame again, and saved a second time to be super sure. I then tried to receive the jirachi again and it worked, different nature and stats 5x in a row. So idk what the biggest factor in there was for me, but doing a soft reset rather than a hard reset may have been a component, i may have also saved after starting the file once I’d checked the jirachi on some failed attempts as well. Hopefully this helps some people troubleshoot a bit more!!
Sorry that this is a bit later, but I started my hunt today and I’m running into a lot of this problem. I feel like I’ve tried everything - saving five times, saving five times with frame changes between, saving twice with a frame change between, no frame change, delaying/speeding up the hard reset I do to attempt to corrupt the file, nothing seems to help. I was able to do it the first couple times but after that it’s just been straight tragedy (only gotten it twice since, I’ve probably restarted the game 30 times today). The only thing I can think of being the problem is that my internal battery is dead - was yours?
@@samuellish My current situation mirrors yours exactly. My Sapphire has a dry internal battery. 11 successful corruption resets and now 3 in a row that simply do not work. Nothing noticeably different on my end. If this keeps happening my run is DOA

Nothing has really changed much outside of now knowing you need to save twice every time before connecting to the bonus disc in order to be able to load a backup save successfully!
I haven’t started hunting this yet as I have a lot of projects I’m currently working on. But I’ll definitely stream the hunt here on UA-cam and Twitch when I get around to it!
I heard you have to play through a portion of the game cube game to get the jirachi in the first place ( and then re-do it to transfer a new Jirachi). Am I missing something?
You do not have to play through the game cube came. The bonus disc is only a few menus and demos I’ve of which includes the Busch m Jirachi. I made this video and I don’t even own colosseum
@@ThedomiNATION Ah I see, I think I have mixed that up with Pokemon Channel. At least on the wiki it says you have to play through that one in order to transfer a Jirachi. Similar to Manaphy except you are not limited to only 1 Jirachi per copy.

for some reason, this method seems to have entirely broken for me. saving twice after getting the pokedex, soft resetting after getting jirachi, then corrupting seems to not revert back to the backup save which should have a value of 1 in the pokedex, is showing me 2, and i still have the jirachi. im not sure what exactly it is i've done wrong, and i cant figure out how to fix it. anyone come across this issue?
I’m not sure. Maybe it’s the timing on which you’re turning your game off while deleting the save file?
Are you saving twice before redeeming the Jirachi as well? I’m doing this hunt now myself and how it’s going for me is save twice, redeem Jirachi, check for shiny, if not shiny, corrupt save, save twice to overwrite the corruption. Then redeem another Jirachi, repeat. Basically all the points mentioned in this video but I save twice both before the redeem and after the corruption.

For all who was wondering i had a dead batterie and used the technic shown in the Video + i skiped the cut-sceen after the screen turned black. and i always saved twice, and between the saving i always changed the colour of the frame. i have no idea why that helps but after i always changed the colour of the frame i almost never failed to corrupt the save file. I always made a new safe file after 30-50 srs because i wasnt shure about the dead battery.
If you do it that way and play concentrated a resett shoul take arround 1,5 min
maybe this is a little help for some of you :)

This works for the European Pokémon Channel games as well right?
Yep but if you need to restart the game, you'll need to beat the elite 4 before receiving another Jirachi, so the colosseum bonus disc is the better option.
Channel is mainly shiny locked so the odds are way harder I heard
@@yup5581 if anything the odds would be 1/8192. That being said you need to play through until the elite 4 to get Jirachi from channel so it's not really worth doing it that way

Just wondering if anyone how does the data corruption does it still comes up with the jirachi still in the party because it’s happening to me
Sometimes it might just load the current save instead of the backup save. I had someone on Twitter tell me they had much success saving twice every time right before receiving jirachi so even after you load the file correctly before you receive the jirachi, save twice again! Hopefully that works for you!

Try to save twice each time before connecting to get jirachi! Lots of people have said that’s what works the best!
Pick up the potion from the Clerk outside the house in Oldale town before battling May. It’s saved me many times when fighting May when I had Bad Ivs or if she got a Critical hit.
It may be a few seconds to grab the item but it’s faster then getting Wiped by May.

As I'm doing the alphabet challenge I definitely have Mew planned at M. Already got almost 4,000 runaways in for it but been putting it off. I was gonna look into getting the Deoxys distribution cart but idk how obtainable/ expensive they are nowadays.

You have to do this on ruby or sapphire. You cannot do it for emerald or fire red and leaf green

I've never tried it. I'd assume you need the cable. If you have the bonus disk and ruby already than give it a try and see if it works.

I have heard that it should because it uses an entirely different system to generate the jirachi. However IMO I wouldn’t attempt any soft reset hunt with a dead battery and they aren’t that hard to replace. There are special battery holders you can buy from eBay that you can solder onto the game and simply put a new battery into making it much easier to replace moving forward! Does this work on the vWii on the Wii U?
Works on a Wii but I don't think a Wii U can run game cube games
Only works on a GC or RVL-001, as you need a system with a GC controller port.
Do you know the odds of this shiny Jirachi?
There are 9 shiny Jirachi out of 65536 total combinations of Jirachi. So a 9/65536 or roughly a 1/7282 chance. Slightly higher than normal shiny odds

I believe it used to not but it does now due to a Japanese shiny jirachi event that has been done in the past. Also I think I’ve seen people with a wishmkr shiny jirachi in sword version

Emulators probably use a different process of saving. That being said you might be able to get a save state before you receive Jirachi and just keep loading that one up. Also not sure how you're managing to make the emulator compatible with the bonus disc
@@ThedomiNATION yes in my tests impossible yo get the same results as you, and for me a save state is like "cheating" so yeah i think i'll use my cracked wii and put a iso file of the game and go like that. I just need to buy a link cable and an english version of ruby or sapphire (because i'm french)

I don't think this works for dried battery games. I done this a dozen times but does not seem to work.
The battery shouldn't matter. Try to save a few times and change the frame color if your menu. If nothing works, you could always replace your dried battery

I seem to be dumb or something. I tinker around with settings and copy what the video said. Still when I pull up the corrupted save it has the Jirachi still there. Maybe batteries has a lot to do with it. If you have one that is dead you might want to try and see.
I've figured it out, just a matter of timing the reset properly.
Personally I would recommend getting your battery replaced just for the sake of faster resets
I’ve done this ten times and it only works the first time every time just like in the video. I’ll edit this comment if I find a way for it to consistently work for me

does this work on more pokemon games? im thinkin if it might work for E4 roamer resets without having to kill the roamers and beat the E4 again
I doubt it. I think the only reason this works is because you just load your game up and Jirachi is there. Also if it goes wrong (and there's a pretty high chance it does) you'll need to restart your save file and having to play through the elite 4 will be awful
@@ThedomiNATION seemed to me it loaded a backup save before the last saved data which in that case would have been nice to abuse in instances where the game forces you to saves. being able to undo those forced saves would literally be a dream come true.
@@Strashky yes it does that. But it can still corrupt your save file and load your save after you were forced to save. Making it a risky strategy to do in the late game

It’s the same accessory you need for the GameCube. It’s a cord that plugs into the controller slot of your Wii and also the cable slot of your gameboy!

Sometimes the backup save isn’t the one without the jurachi so I got to do the whole 8 min thing again. Is it just random sometimes or am I doing something wrong.
Also I want to hunt manaphy I got an egg on ranger but I want to get more by downloading other peoples saves (or Duplicate my own save) to help speed up the process but IDK how to do that.
@@ha_ur_dead6675 good luck! And yeah I had the same issue where sometimes it wouldn’t load the backup before the jirachi was received. As for manaphy, I would recommend using an R4 card to try and get manaphy eggs as you can just delete and redownload the game to the card instead of having to wipe a cartridge which idk how to do either. I bought like 6 copies of ranger and ultimately decided to use an r4 card for the rest of the eggs!
Can you transfer that shiny Jirachi up to Pokémon Home or does it get blocked?

Some kind soul on reddit just gave me shiny wishmaker jirachi, and I'm so happy.
I hate to be that guy but no one would spend the time to shiny hunt jirachi to just give away. If you’re fine with having illegitimate shinies given to you then hey more power to you!
Manaphy is harder, you can only get 1 egg per pokemon ranger game and the personality value of manaphy is purposely locked to not align with your trainer id or secret id so you have to trade it to another game to bypass the shiny lock by hoping the personality value aligns with that games trainer/secret id.
Edit: this is only possible because manaphy is gifted as an egg where as other gifted pokemon are not. So hatching it in another game will allow this to happen but because the game does not intend for you to have a shiny manaphy, the hatching animation will not show its a shiny so you will need to check its summary afterwards.
I have tutorials on manaphy on my channel as well. Manaphy in my opinion WAS easier to hunt than Jirachi before this method was discovered. This is because if you did a lot of setup and played through many ranger games you could get many eggs per save file before having to restart your game and play up until sandgem town while with jirachi, no matter what you could only get one per save file making the time between encounters way longer. However with this method allowing you to not have to restart your save file every time, it definitely makes jirachi easier than manaphy by a long shot now
@@ThedomiNATION I see what you mean after watching your manaphy part 2 video. I will say this though, the setup for manaphy is a lot harder than the original jirachi method but after the setup it's soooo much easier! Thank you, I was about to write off shiny manaphy as impossible for me to get!

@@ThedomiNATION I hope you get it! I was also wondering, why buy all the same ranger games when you could of got the whole series and at least enjoyed that part of the grind. I remember playing shadows of almia as a kid when I got my first manaphy and I enjoyed the hell out of that game.

In the shiny shaymin video you did. I followed EVERY single instruction you did. And now I'm stuck in the glitchy water. Without able to open the menu. A file with 6 years of my life dedicated to that game, gone...

@@Anakinx.95 it’s probably just a quirk with trying to load the backup save. You might need to create a new save every time to make sure it properly loads a backup
