    Don’t give up David!! I recently applied and got an RN informatics specialist job with only an ADN and some experience as a superuser. I thought “l’m definitely not going to get anything but I’m going to try applying anyways” At first I started applying to the state I currently live in and didn’t hear back from anyone. Then I stopped limiting myself and started applying to another state I use to live in/comfortable with. I found that was the key…relocating but most people unfortunately aren’t willing to do it. Are you willing to relocate?

    Also, thanks for posting updates. I’m an LPN bridging over to my RN currently. A local university has a health informatics program that I almost started, but i decided to continue with advancing my nursing degree first and then getting my bachelors in health informatics. Any advice? I have no experience either. :(

    Im curious what titles are you looking for in jobs. Alot of informatics have those titles like data analyst, CDi specialist, clinical health specialist, clinical health project management, quality reassurance specialist etc any IT title with Health in it or specialist in it are a great entry level positions that will get you experience. Those are all under the informatics umbrella i feel like and dont require years of experience. sometimes the key is relocating or looking at remote jobs. There are quite alot of CDI remote careers as well. YOU GOT THIS. alot of it is just relocation and networking.

    Since you will be liaising with IT, I think it would help you stand out if you went to get IT certifications like CompTIA A+.

    Try not to be discouraged. Keep your eye out for EHR enhancement/change request opportunities. Work on anything related to the EHR, new devices, new workflows, quality improvement, or change management. Also, get familiar with how to use a lot of the Microsoft 365 applications (Microsoft website and UA-cam have lots of training info). Other alternatives are applying for RN quality/data management roles to get similar experience to better prepare for an informatics role. Best of luck to you!!

      I like the Microsoft 365 advice, yes I’m familiar but I wouldn’t try and sell that normally. I will for sure look out for positions in those names

    Hi David, I got my MSN in Healthcare Informatics, I got very lucky to get hired working for the govt. i don’t think many nurses know they can search for govt or state positions. There are a lot of positions available too in manage care organizations, did you just try hospitals?

      You can also look for informatics positions at health plans ie Centene, BCBS, UHG.
      Or even IT companies like Accenture and ATOS hire health Informaticist because they contract with hospitals, health plans, govt.

    Earn more certs-google IT, coursera courses, etc. Best advice is the bedside experience is no longer going to help and to go full focus on projects.

    Hey Lil D. I wanted to ask how you got the feedback about not getting the job. Idk if it’s the same as new grad rn programs, but I have interviewed and never hear feedback as to why I wasn’t chosen. I never expected one but it would be great to receive feedback to work on.

    • @DabidRobinson
      @DabidRobinson  2 роки тому

      One interview was with people I did my 200 hours with, so one of the girls on the team told me who they ended up hiring. The second time I got feedback, I actually got a call back saying thank you. For the most part I don’t hear back though. It’s annoying.

Please share a video or reply on the specific jobs to apply to or are relevant to the degree. So I can check the job description to see if it aligns to my experience and degree.

    Are you still working internally at a hospital? It helps if you can apply as an internal candidate! I recently applied and got the position...might be luck but I don't have any informatics experience nor a masters degree. I spoke to my experience as the team lead and a super user on my unit. Try to get project management experience as well. Good luck!!

      Your IT may have super users when they plan on implementing a change. Super users can act as a resource on their unit for the specific change. Sometimes they will give these individuals extra resources, so they are able to teach on the change.
