    Excellent video! I never would have thought of using a mask to identify where the stone would go.

    This is a very interesting technique! I have a couple of questions, though. Firstly, is there any reason you could not cut out the whole behind the stone while the backplate is still wet clay? This also goes for cutting out prongs (not using a paper punch, of course.) Next, I know you are using EZ 960 due to its strength, but could you use a different kind of clay (such as Art Clay Silver or Copper) and cut the prongs, have them dry in the shape you'd like, then still fire according to the instructions and have this method work?

    • @shantilewis4188
      @shantilewis4188 3 роки тому

      I'm thinking if you cut the whole out while wet it would or could morph it out of shape, even so slightly would effect the final outcome. I could be wrong but that was what I was guessing the reason.

      @@shantilewis4188 What about the other part of her question: "Next, I know you are using EZ 960 due to its strength, but could you use a different kind of clay (such as Art Clay Silver or Copper)..." Can you use a different kind of precious metal clay? Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great video! ☺💖

    I am slightly confused by the use of the term flexible clay throughout the prongs and bail portions of the tutorial. Are you using a different clay than the ez 960 that you created the base of the pendant with?

    • @cooltoolsvideos
      @cooltoolsvideos  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Detrina, these entire piece is made with EZ960. EZ960 is considered to be flexible - especially by Cindy :) She loves using EZ960 for flexibility. Hope this helps!

    So I have been trying to get my piece perfect which seems to be asking a lot. I have reconstituted the clay repeatedly. It has broken the last 2 times but I let it dry longer than 2 hours each time. Is that the problem or it the number of times it has been reconstituted or is it something else? I am using PMC Flex. I do not have a center punch to cut out the back hole and have been using a scalpel.
    The piece is fairly large and dries bowed so is not easily supported. 6.5 X 4.5. I have tried drying it on a mug warmer and drying it in room air. It warped each time. Thank you for your time.
    This video is much appreciated.

    • @cooltoolsvideos
      @cooltoolsvideos  2 роки тому

      Hi Ruth, when you are drying your piece you'll want to make sure to flip it over every 15 minutes. This will help make sure that it does not warp. Reconstituted clay shouldn't be an issue as long as it is properly hydrated. Hope this helps!

    How do you polish the piece? Can you add after firing other silver wire by soldering it on like sister snake around as a further bezel, or any other thing just to have different appearances? Can you age it afterwards also? Just came to mind lol

    Your bail is too small for the chain required to hold a heavy stone pendant like this one. Plus, it doesnt seem wide enough to put any necklace through without taking the clasp off, feeding the chain, then putting the clasp back on. Laypeople dont know how to do this. It is a beautiful piece, but not practical or functional. Sorry😢
