  • The Cold War Museum - The nuclear base in Podborsk is located 3 km from the village of Podborsko and 12 km from Białogard, on the road to Tychów. Driving the road from Podbork to Tychowo, turn left after the railway crossing, following the information board and the signpost.
Object 3001 is a secret base of Russian troops (USSR), which is mainly a warehouse of nuclear warheads. There is also a "Granit" type facility within the base, which is a shelter for self-propelled rocket launchers, such as RDS 10 Pionier. Two identical bunkers housed the Squd-8F14 (269a) missile warheads with an RDS-4 uranium charge with a power of up to 10kt.
The RSD-10 Pionier launcher (NATO code SS-20 Saber) - a Soviet two-stage intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM). The pioneer was a TEL launcher, a mobile ballistic missile on a car platform, carrying a single 1 megaton fusion warhead or up to three 150 kilotons MIRV warheads.
More than a hundred warheads were stored 10 km from the town of 25,000. There are two separate warehouses in the facility (one for visitors - shown in the film) and 3 "Granite" type objects. Most likely, a brigade called "Malaya Tajnaja" + special forces guards, both reporting directly to the KGB in Moscow, was stationed there.
The Cold War Museum in Podbork is a newly opened facility, a branch of the Polish Arms Museum in Kołobrzeg.
Object 3001 was a top secret military complex that contained nuclear ammunition, both warheads and aerial bombs. Only 12 people in Poland saw its existence. The complex consisted of barracks, ironically today, there is a detention center there, as well as the aforementioned bunkers serving as a weapons depot and shelters for self-propelled rocket launchers.
To see the bunker open to the public, you have to go through a huge double anti-nuclear gate. After defeating them, go to the balcony inside the nuclear ammunition bunker. All original installations and devices have been preserved in the bunker. Inside there is an exhibition showing the time of the Cold War.
It is worth knowing that the Cold War Museum in Podbork is the only former repository of nuclear weapons in Poland that has been made available to visitors. There are two other similar repositories in Poland, but they are completely devastated. Entry to the bunker takes place every hour on the hour. GPS coordinates of the Cold War Museum: N 53 57 52 64 -E 16 07 27 55.
The administrator of this extraordinary and unique place in Poland is the West Pomeranian Association of History and Secrets. The association organizes events there and, upon prior arrangement, makes the facility available to visitors. A lot of original equipment has been preserved in the bunkers: aggregates, ventilation systems, carts, a working electrical installation, personal equipment of soldiers, etc.
