- Today I'm going to be doing one of the weirdest chemical reactions I've ever seen. It called the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction, and it's one of the only known oscillating chemical reactions.

The first guy who discovered this reaction must've thought they are hallucinating when they saw it for the first time.
I thought the same but propably people back in the days where not so much into hallucinating drugs.
@@jenstrudenau9134 oh to be so innocent/naive.... many cultures have used many different hallucigens (about 100 species of mushrooms, and 7 different plants have DMT in "accidentally extractable levels" (1-2% of their dried weight)
For thousands maybe 100s of thousands of years
Make a soup with any of those ingredients... or accidentally eat the fungus "ergot" which grows on grains... and you will hallucinate (ergot is poison at certain doses tho I think)

This actually brought me back to my time in school 20 years ago where our chemistry teacher loved to show reactions using Petri dishes and an overhead projector.
