- My Tape Recording Tactics Course - tinyurl.com/3u... - Learn all about recording on Real Analog tape, and how to recreate #analog #tape in your DAW, using free plugins. No tape recorder required.
I want to show you how to tap into your flow state, shave your head like a tibetan monk, and eat organic produce like a #dawless hippie.
But seriously - I'm proud of this course. It explains not only my philosphy about how to get great sounds on analog tape, but how to get into analog tape recording cheap, and how to replicate analog tape in the box, and a whole lot more.

Dude. That dance. Extended cut?! It was AMAZING!!!
2 hour extended dance lesson in the course!
Digging the tune here. Always top notch content. You’ll never guess - I acquired a Tascam M-320 at the thrift store yesterday. And the beautiful thing is that it is clean and everything seems to be working, as far as I have tested. I think it’s time to get the TEAC deck out and start recording again…. No excuses now.
Good to hear from you Waylon! Congrats on your find
Hey man so I’m taking the tape class and had a quick question…
I have a 388, I just got it fixed and set up and ready to go. Now I need to order tape. The thing is though that some people are saying the 388 must be calibrated to an exact type of tape you want to use. Other people are sayin that it does not matter if it’s calibrated to an exact type of tape or not and that as ling as you use good tape it’s fine. My question is this…
- what tape would you recommend?
- Also do I have to have my 388 calibrated to an exact type of tape or can I use any kind of tape I want or various types of tape. Basically does it need to be specifically calibrated to one type of tape or not?
Hi Mark! Thanks for signing up for the course. I still recommend LP35 from record the masters! I personally am more concerned with getting a newer safer tape like this than I am concerned with calibration
@@travisraab ok good to know. I plan to buy RTM LP35 or ATR for sure either way as I’ve heard both are quality new tapes. I guess I’m wondering if I need to calibrate the machine to one of those specific tapes or can I just use both without calibration? Some people are saying to calibrate to a specific tape and others are saying it’s not needed so I’m a bit confused
@@Mark_Bayer just use the tape and start recording!
@@travisraab so you don’t think the biasing or calibrating to a specific type of tape matters or makes a difference? Or does it?
@@Mark_Bayer no i just think you are getting way into the weeds. The goal of the course is to make music, not create unnecessary work.
Hi bro, how are you? Cool video 👌

I'm really missing your videos Travis. How's Walter?
What type of video do you want to see?
@@travisraab I really enjoyed your vlogs but also see your work flow is really helpful. I'm trying my hand at sync so I'd love to hear your ideas on what works for you.
