  • Join me as I head into Algonquin Park to explore a new to me lake.
I try my luck at some brook trout fishing
I go over where I've been and why I haven't been making UA-cam videos lately.
Even though my tests came back negative, I still think it was Lyme disease. I've had every symptom listed on here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyme_di...
I know people that have had several tests done in Canada and their results were negative but then went to the united states and the results were positive.
I forgot to mention in the video. You may NOT drive this section of road unless you have your Algonquin Native Card, work for, or under the MNR (Canadian Ministry of Natural Resources).
If the MNR catches you driving this section you will defiantly get a hefty fine, possibly charged and maybe lose your vehicle. So please don't try and drive this section of road without the proper authorization. Thank you

I'm sorry to hear about your health. Do you think it could have been caused from anything related to your landscaping business? Like any chemical ? I am praying for you. I really enjoy watching you fish from Michigan. All the best friend.

I have thought about that, they changed the formula in the polymeric sand that goes between the interlock that year. The only other chemicals I would have used are interlock paver sealant, xylene to reseal some pavers that didn't seal properly and muriatic acid to clean the pavers. They're all pretty toxic if inhaled so you never know. It's been so long I kind of forget if it happened around the same time I used any of the products. I defiantly do more fishing than catching lmao. Thank you for the prayers they're greatly appreciated, and thank you for watching :)

Dude what ever you had sounds like some scary shit, at least you're able to move around and get outside now.

It was scary and I'm glad I pulled through, glad for my kids more than myself. But I feel much better now, just to regain my strength. Thanks for watching, it's greatly appreciated.

An0n and I were definitely some of the people wondering where you went. We would bring you up now and then in conversation wondering what you were up to and hoping you were doing well. Good to know you are doing well now, but wow man that definitely sounds like a scary couple of years. It honestly sounds like a bunch of different things happening at once and maybe causing some of the other issues also. I’d be looking at anything new you might have introduced into your life a year or so before it all happened, or maybe even daily habits like not getting enough sleep/water. You’d be surprised to know not sleeping enough/not eating or drinking water well enough and adding stress to all that can cause seizures and strokes.
It’s frustrating when doctors can’t even find out what’s wrong. I got super sick a year into dating An0n and the doctors had no clue what was going on. I could only eat a couple bites of food here and there or else I would be sick to my stomach, a sip of alcohol would give me massive headaches, and I was losing weight fast. I ended up following a diet for someone who had their gallbladder removed, started taking Nexium and I began to feel better. Sometimes I feel like we figure out how to get ourselves better faster than a doctor can. Glad you are doing better and maybe some day you can get answers to what happened. I also hope it doesn’t happen again. Good to have you back!

Its so hard to track things that were introduced at that time. So many different things happened in about a 6 month span its hard to pinpoint anything specific, From April to about October. I broke up with my girlfriend, A couple ripped me off for a10k Landscape job(my fault no contract). Someone ripped me off for the lettuce I was growing. The basement flooded and destroyed everything. so everything in the basement was new. I had a sick moose hanging around the house for a few weeks. My truck was giving me problems. I was doing a hiking trip and a huge explosion went off in the sky above me, it was so loud it hurt my ears and made me duck for cover, I was in Algonquin so should be no explosions. Makes me think we were attacked with nerve agent or radiation or something. not sure how plausible that is but who knows in todays age. I had a few ticks on me so I thought it was Lyme but that came back negative.
So many things its hard to even remember them all. I took the new carpet out thinking that was the problem cause it happened right after I got the carpet but that didn't help. I probably wasn't sleeping enough and super stressed out. That may have done it.
The only thing that seemed to help me was when I started the carnivore diet then everything kind of subsided and slowly disappeared except for the burning feet I still get every now and again.
Since I've been sick I had to close down my landscaping company, had to sell pretty much everything I own just to try and survive and pay some bill. Sold my f350, all my landscaping equipment I worked for 5 years to acquire, my furniture, basically everything but my camera cause that was the only way I was gonna be able to make money in my condition. lol that being said I just got back from a canoe trip a few hours ago and currently have my camera sitting in a bag of rice, I hope it works. I didn't fall in, it was just raining to hard and stopped working.
Sounds like you went through a heck of a time as well, hope you feel better now.
It's good to catch up, I've missed everyone on the old internet.

@@NatureBound Wow man. Yeah that definitely seems like a ton of stress and not properly eating/sleeping/whatnot. At least, hopefully that’s all it was and nothing more serious, that way you can continue to get back your life and regain the overall strength you lost. Sorry you went through all that, what a rough time :(
Yeah it was rough for me but thankfully that was about 11-12 years ago. I think it was due to the fact at the time (before getting together with An0n) that I was drinking a lot and that possibly attributed to what was going on. I also wasn’t sleeping well or eating well then either. Now I’m just trying to not be fat lol. Though I am trying to create better habits like getting outside and moving around more instead of being lazy on the couch all day on my days off. An0n had some scary health issues lately but is doing much better also thankfully. Its how I know about how scary not eating/sleeping/and heavy stress can become. As they say, we aren’t getting any younger so we both are making changes. I’ve cut out alcohol from my life but I did that years back. I never really enjoyed it anyways. As for the lettuce, it’s still a bad habit but I’ve cut down drastically and only do it if we are home for the night. We are also getting on a healthier diet, from frozen foods to doing homemade meals if possible. Plus the cost of things are helping in that aspect because its finally cheaper to buy stuff for meals than frozen food. So we will have a lot of grilled meat in our diet now, which I’m not sad about lol.
I don’t blame you there, it was a smart move to keep the camera. I’m still blown away at the shots you get in your videos because I know how much work it takes to keep having to set it up and then go back to get it to continue filming. I hope the rice worked! I always worry about my camera when I bring in on walks and it starts to rain. It was definitely great catching up. We still have our discord set up but no one ever talks in there anymore lol. I’ve got Kript and Bestie on my FB but I don’t think she uses here’s much. Kript updates his here and there but most of us don’t really talk that much anymore unfortunately. Seems like once Gator went off the wall we all kinda fell apart.

Well to begin with i am subscribed to the avg joe's fishing channel .Don't know what to make about your dislike of berms. Seems to be a measure of dislike everytime you say MNR .The only reason Algonquin still has a good trout fishery is because you can't drive to lakes with your pickup truck.
Too bad about the sickness. Hopefully you return to full strength.

    • @NatureBound
      @NatureBound  2 роки тому +1

Glad you're already a sub of theirs. You are 100% correct about the berms, they keep the lakes from being over fished and plundered for sure.
I defiantly respect the MNR and what they do for us all, without them I'm sure there would be very little remaining.
My dislike was just in the moment I suppose.
Glad you called me out on the dislike of the MNR.
It made me think a little bit and remember that not everyone is like me and only keep a few fish to eat and move on.
Thanks for watching Alex and hope you have a great day.

@@NatureBound I keep even fewer , recognizing how heavily the lake might be fished.Sometimes i'm just too lazy to clean and cook a speckle and just have a sandwich.
Like most ,seeing an mnr truck or boat does not make me happy. But they keep the park fishery from going right down the shitter .
Btw noticed the light reel you use and smaller rod. So many youtube guys have way too much rod and reel for speckles.I use a 5 ft telescopic zebco rod and a light shimano reel.
But a foot injury has kept me sidelined for years. So i can sympathize with your illness .Now i lend one of my canoes to a woman who promises to bring me a speckle but doesn't

I haven't kept a bass or pike in probably 10 years. Those two trout you saw in my prior video was only my 5th trout out of the park.
I have so much water around me I never seen the need to go and fish the park.
I'm turning 40 this year and starting to realize I have never explored Algonquin as far as fishing, not like my father, grandfather and prior generations.
The only exploring I've done is when we would hunt moose. Up until my grandfather died in 2014 then our gang(family members) stopped going.
My father and I would go ourselves the odd year but were never successful as we only ever had a calf tag. We only ever got two adult tags for in the park in almost 20 years of applying for them. Luckily we filled both tags I think that was in 2004 or 2005, we got them both in the same year lol
I know I don't look native but if you seen my Grandfather and especially my Great Grandfather you'd have to wonder how a bloodline can change so fast. If my daughters don't marry an Algonquin they will be the last of our bloodline to enter the park freely since the 1400's and most likely prior. That's how far back we have records of our family tree.
I don't really get upset when I see the wardens I know they are there to try and help the wildlife.
I have been stopped many times in and out of the park and never had a single problem.
I guess I just get frustrated that every time I try and explore a new road, its dug up just a few kilometers past where the government stops making money off people. I understand why its done but still a bit frustrating to me. as I feel I have a (maybe unfair in some eyes) right to use it.
But that's here nor there, me being upset will do nothing to solve anything. And i have to remember not everyone is like me.
As far as my rod, its a 6 foot, 4 piece Browning packer graphite that fits in my backpack. Its very light and sensitive compared to my other rods. The reel is a Shimano TX 500f, you can only get 60 yards of 6lb test on it lol Works great for the little brookies, not so much for the lake trout
I have a few telescoping rods but never use them, I think one is a Zebco but its been so long I kinda forget,
Me being sick and literally thinking that was the end has changed me in so many ways its hard to fathom. I've stopped hanging around certain friends and started being around my family more. I've changed my entire diet, stopped eating sugar, stopped smoking the lettuce, stopped almost everything bad for me except cigarettes, its a hard one to quit.
You're gonna have to go with that woman and show her how to catch them or maybe get her to bring you some luncheon meats for your sandwiches. Saves cleaning the fish lol

@@NatureBound Wrote a long reply then lost it.
I lent out the canoe to help this woman out trying to become a solo canoer. She's a capable tandem canoer but her fishing skills are limited.Don't think she even knows a decent lake to go to ,let alone how to catch them. I;d like to go with her, but asking would be a bit forward. She has brought me homemade bison burgers.
My reel is a shimano mark 1 Q , holding 105 yds of 8 lb test. I use a german line with the dia of 4 lb but has a 7.2 lb strength.Only change about 20 odd yds as its pricey. Rarely get to the knot. The set up has held 5-6 lb specks and 5 lb smallmouth.Think i could hold a 10 lb laker.
Your heritage is a very interesting story.Makes Algonquin part of who you are.
I'm not a hunter but should be one. But tags, gun licence etc just make it too much of a hassle. No one in my family canoes or fishes.Would almost call my nephews suburban sissys .
Got a lake you might want to check ,but you may not have the stamina to get there.email me at canoetripper1@yahoo.ca

I was afraid I was gonna lose my message yesterday as well. I was nervous after writing so much lol.
I guess bison meat is just as good, and you get the satisfaction of knowing you were a contributing factor in someone growing their canoeing skills/experiences , which is a reward in itself.
My go to line is Power Pro, I find it never goes flat or tangles on the reel, I have it on all my bait casters in 20lb test and replaced one of my lead core lines with 50lb test, haven't tried it yet though so don't know if it works as good. I have my bigger spinning rods setup with mono at the moment, I forget the poundage probably 10 or 15lb test.
I have so may rods its hard to keep track of it all. I checked my telescoping rods this am and one is a Silstar and one is a Zebco adventure, its a 5' 10", just a cheap kids reel on it though cause I never use it. I always burn out the reels long before the rod.
As far as all the hunting courses, licenses, tags and restrictions it's mostly just a money grab now in my eyes.
I doubt I'd have the stamina yet if the lake is a far hike.
I actually had a 5 day solo canoe trip planned from McKaskill Lake to Round Lake down the Bonnechere River. I was suppose to leave today but my father wouldn't take me to get dropped off.
He doesn't think I have the power or stamina yet to get myself out of trouble, which is very likely to happen on the upper stretch of river, especially in the spring time.
I disagreed with him naturally but as a third party looking in, he can see stuff about me I just don't notice, and I should respect his opinion. A little frustrating but he knows that section of river and warned me its a very tough and rough trip, so much so they took it off the canoe routes of Algonquin like 10 years ago.
Would hate to go anyways and not come home cause he was correct about his observations of me. Maybe by the end of the summer ill be strong enough to do the upper section of river. I may just do from Couchain Lake to Round Lake as its a pretty easy paddle.
I've been carrying my loaded pack around home for the last few weeks to try and regain my leg strength. Its amazing how much strength you lose after doing nothing but laying down for two years.
Thanks for the good chat Alex. I hope you have a great day
