Burn-away Harry Potter Cake: Fawkes the Phoenix Wafer Paper Tutorial

- ...wafer paper with EXTRAS! Isomalt flames, fondant baby fawkes ... and a sneaky NEW low-tech way to make specialized shapes in wafer!
I'm a huge HP fan, and when @MyCakingJourney set upon the internet with her vertically-oriented burn-away top-forward Easter egg cake, the formerly maligned burnaway cake took on a whole new meaning and approach!
I have yet to explore this further, but here, I formed fondant and coated with shortening, that then could be coated in wafer paper and left to dry ... shortening seals the fondant against drying, and after the wafer paper is left to air dry, you're free to stash your protected fondant for another project! It's the coolest thing!

Thank you tons and tons, Wendy! It was definitely an adventure to make, changed my mind and design about a million times...almost didn't want to set it on fire! The burnt/melted icing with the little fondant bird enclosed was a bit like a phoenix s'more in the end :D
