This was an enjoyable project that I reckon will get heaps of use! The main thing I will use it for is carving but it’ll be great for just sitting and having a coffee. It took a little working out, the height, proportions and to generally look nice too. I think I managed to pull it off and I’m very happy with the results.
I introduced Dodge at the end of the video and you will probably see more of him and his sister ‘Pippa’ as they are now the new shop dogs. Dodge made it into this video as he happened to come in and see me as I was filming the end.
As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

Laziness is the mother invention . Good job.
Beautiful design, beautiful and useful. And a cute, cute little dog.! :)
Looks a lot like the Benchcrafted seat, which I’ve been thinking of knocking off for awhile. Nice work!
Thank you! :)
you "neiled" it. great job, thanks for sharing.
Something about the sped up gauge carving was so cool. Great video
Very cool mate. Definately building myself one. Thanks for the idea.
Now that is awesome. Just right for hand cutting dovetails, carving and plan planning.....great build my friend, thank you for sharing 👍🏼😊
Glad you liked it Marc! :)
its good to see all the projecct you shared in the channel at work, vice, bench, holdfasts. all really efective
Thanks Simone! They are all used regularly and still going strong. :)
Офигенный получился стульчик к верстаку!!! Надо и себе такой сделать)))) Спасибо за видео!!!
Amazing idea for a workbench.
That is a very neat seat....nice work...and a cute pup too...👍🏻
Great idea. Love Dodge. He reminds me of one of my dogs.
Brilliant idea pask especially with a bench that’s manuverable . Nice one mate
Yet again, another great project and video. Love the gouge marks in the seat, gives it beautiful character.
Thanks Nick! :)
Nice seat; a useful addition to any bench.
Thanks Andy! :)
Cool to see more metal! Almost 100k! Great work!
Thanks Sebastiaan! Almost! ;)
Awesome idea and I see the wood hold downs are doing its job...I use mine all the time....
That's great to hear Robert, I like them over the steel ones, for carving anyway. :)
Wow! Nice job, I love it
The way you did the hinges all the stress is on only the bottom part, nice dog by the way.
Great ideal as long as the work table is mounted down or heavier than you.
Yes Frank, you are correct! Fortunately my bench has plenty of weight to it! :)
What a great idea pask. I need one of these to go underneath the scroll saw workstation/bench grinder. I love the way that it's always there but neatly packs away
Thank you! :)
very cool and useful project. Dodge looks really cute
Thanks Markus - he is pretty cute! :)
Love the Coopers box as the template. An old friend from Adelaide introduced me to Coopers a while back and I love them, when I can get them anyway!
Yep, it's good stuff Jay! :)
Better than drinking Adelaide water ;)
Coop's! My fave as well!
I'll remember the Coopers next time we head north : ) Love your work Neil.
Thanks mate! :)
As soon as you mentioned Coopers Beer I knew I had to watch. Excellent video and excellent beer
Love the Coopers! Thanks Robert! :)
Really like the concept! You'll get a ton of use out of that seat.
Thanks Bruce! :)
Nothing like Coopers and Cascade, mate!
You’re a pleasure to watch work
Very cool. Clever solution and great video!
Haha, way cool, man. Love how meticulously you work mate...
Cute pupper. Hopefully we'll get to see him/her grow.
Thanks Bill! Dodge and his sister (Pippa) will be making appearances for sure! :)
omg even included the puppy tax, very well done!!
Love the idea of the seat... might copy that idea =D
super cool job , thanks for sharing. i like
очень удобно и красиво получилось!//very convenient and beautifully turned out!
Thank you Roman! :)
Great idea and build 👍👍👍 Love it 😎
Great project as always! Thanks
Your videos are so entertaining. Thanks for making them!
No worries - glad you like them! :)
Seat looks great. Puppy is cute :)
This is so awesome to watch! The metal process is so nice, all the cuts so perfect with the grinder, very satisfying! The seat just seems to be attached a bit too high as it seems you barely touch the floor with your feet and that might cause you some blood circulation issues. Other than that, excellent as always! And nice puppy :)
Thank you very much Cris - glad you liked it! Maybe it doesn't show too well on the video but it's actually pretty comfortable. I spent quite a bit of time working out the height (and distance from the bench) but you're observations are valid and need considering. Glad you liked Dodge, I'll have to introduce his sister Pippa! :)
I was wondering about the height too but the idea is amazing
maybe make a foot rest that can attach to the leg of the workbench..
John Made it you are a genius!
Not a genius, ask my wife she things I'm a idiot 😋. But occasionally i have a good idea..
Sweet build.
Another great video. Cheers Pask!
Very nicely done Neil. Give Dodge a pat for me mate, cheers Les
Thank you Les! :)
That thing coulee hold up a truck, I am sure! Nicely overbuilt Pask!
Very useful and innovative build!
I like your little mini square you made to cut steel with your angle grinder, I just got a welder but I have no way of cutting up steel very easily or accurately so I'll probably borrow that idea!
That little square only took a minute to weld and has had heaps of use. I used to use a cut off saw but nowadays I prefer this method. One day I will invest in a bandsaw though! :)
Very nice idea!
That is really clever!
Thanks David! :)
Very nice. I would make one change. Put the seat on a sliding mechanism so you can move it closer or farther away from the bench as needed.
Thanks! That's a good idea, I did play with idea of a height adjustment but then I decided to keep it simple and make it just right for me to sit on! :)
Nice work. Your woodworking and metalworking devices are excellent. Thank you.
Felicitaciones, agradecimientos y saludos desde Medellin, Colombia. Sigue con tus trabajos en metal y madera, son excelentes.
Thank you Raul! :)
Awesome!
Looks great Neil!
Thanks Justin! :)
Foco wñ
That is very cool!
Great Idea and even better execution! Well done!
Thank you Karl! :)
Good work all the way 'round Mate!
Excellent job. Bravo
The videos that you made inspired me to try some of your ideas. BTW, The workbench was awesome.
That's great Billy! :)
That is so cool I want one in my shop
Nicely done!
I like how you don’t have music. Just the sound of tools is awesome
Awesome video and build !
Great build as always Neil ! Love the idea of using offcuts to guide the cutting wheel. Beautiful pup =)
I really enjoy your videos, but that puppy is awesome!
Good project to start the New Year
Good show
this guy is so great!!
It came out great! You are a pro with the angle grinder lol!
Thanks Matthew! haha! :)
Just checked out your website Neil. Some serious photographic skills too! Talented bud!!
Thanks Mark - glad you like it! :)
Looks good.
A+ well done video and I will steal this design this summah!
Good grief Neil, that frame would seat an elephant! Planning to put a lot of weight on are we? But nice fab. Maybe replace the load bearing hinge washer with one of HDPE which will self lube and make a smooth action. It can also be cut to same radius as the main hinge faces.
bel progetto e soprattutto molto pratico, complimenti, saluti dall'Italia, ciao
Grazie! :)
Great job man that is really nice my friend! The puppy made the day though LOL!
Thanks Opa! :)
Nice little project. I personally would have taken a seat for a drum kit or bike.
Nice one Neil! "Sick" welding skills bud.. Really like "Dodge" too.. he's gonna become a handful when he grows up a little..
Thank you! He's a handful already but not as much as his sister Pippa! ;)
Amazing Idea !
Awsome 👍👍👍
Hi Dodge! The seat looks great.
Thanks Moz! Glad you liked it! :)
great job and happy new year!!from france
Love it!
Great, cool and clever work! a big kiss to your doggy !
Thanks Daniel! :)
Thanks for sharing !
Brilliant mate
I like it! Maybe I make a similar one for my shop 👍
I've watched all your videos man I love it you're awesome at what you do and I hope for more videos 👏👏👏
Thank you Kenan! :)
I really loved the design of the seat, what a great idea and convenient spot for it. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! :)
Pask if you watch project binky that is called a CAD template. Cool project, thanks
Great idea, Great job, Cute dogie
PUPPY!!!!!
That's great, man!
Next ro your leg vise, this is by far your coolest project yet. Awesome
Thanks Neil - glad you liked it! :)
PASK Makes Just because he can!
Nice ! Very nice .. (from France) 😉
another great project ..wondering why so many guys down under .use flux core welding .instead of mig/soild wire with sheilding gas ...this seat is one of my next projects .
Thanks Patrick! The fluxcore is convenient that is the only reason I use it. I bought a tig set up around 18 months ago and have hardly used it, I keep telling myself I need to give it a go. :)
Good job.
Really it is amazing.👍
That's very amazing 😍😍😍 soo cool
Very practical. Excellent!!
love it man!!! this is fantastic!
Glad you like it Carlos! :)
Great idea.. I'm gonna make one! I would have power carved the seat to rough out and use gouges for finishing cuts...best of both worlds : )
Thanks Jules! I enjoy power carving but I find it over the top for some tasks. For smaller pieces like this, with not much waste removal I reckon it's much more enjoyable done by hand. :)
Pask Makes agreed. .and if you do a lot of power carving, and the arbortechs, die grinders and dremels are your 'go to' tools, it's easy (for me, anyway sometimes) to forget how quick a sharp gouge will work, the finish it leaves, and the pleasure in using it. All the best : )
Wouuuuuuuuuuuuuu very very nice, amazing idea 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
Thanks Martin! :)
Congratulation, amazing video.
Loving your work sir and the attention to detail is really appreciated as well.
Great build, as usual. Quality.
