One of my favorite things in PC port is how its version of .exe, dubed Lord x, speaks to you in those glitch flashes as if you and him know each other. Like "Lets play a game, for old times sakes." He knows he isn't something new or original, he just wants to hold your attention and "play" with you.

I think you also forget to mention the fact that Sonic.exe's sudden resurgence in popularity was also due to the Friday Night Funkin mod that was made not too long ago featuring the creepypasta itself. With how well the mod was made and how polished it was, it got lots of people, me included, to get hooked back onto the .exe trend and refine it into what it's become today.

I’d been avoiding anything Sonic-related since I was in ~grade, 3 then the FNF mod came out (I was in Year 8 last year) and next thing I know, I was hyperfixated on Sonic for the next three or four months. .exe content nowadays is great too.
Eh. Wouldn't exactly say it was ENTIRELY the FNF mod (though obviously that played a big part in it). I'd say the PC Port Remake also played a part in reigniting the spark, especially with the EXE man himself, Luigikid, putting more attention into it than a lot of other stuff.
There's actually one thing you missed about PC Port, and that's the fact that unlike most other EXE fangames, this game actually uses the original creepypasta and it's official sequel as the source material for the game, as well as the original character design for Sonic.EXE made by JCTheHyena himself. It's a shame it's no longer canon since, yknow, JC's actions just EXIST.

Let alone killing others that don't like Sonic, too...), having TWO protagonists that are kind of idiots, some dimension that falls flat because its being controlled by said horror who still looks like Sonic which would leave you laughing your ass off than being scared, and having these "seven guardians" that serve almost no purpose to the story itself. This is mostly specified in the sequel, but given how the creator thought it'd be a great idea to give Sonic.exe this disappointing lore... yeah, no wonder the story has a negative reception. I think I forgot to specify that I'd make it so there isn't much blood present for my version of the creepypasta, but there would be a ton of bugs and glitches or something. I'm still not sure what the actual appearance of Sonic himself in the game would look like by the end, though.
People's fascination with the idea of making an evil, pointy Sonic with blacked out eyes and murderous intent is very interesting to me. Interesting because we already have that, their name is Metal Sonic. Sonic.EXE is fundamentally just Metal Sonic but made of flesh.

The "pulling the user's name from the files" trope never really worked for me, as all the PCs I've recently used don't use my name as the main user directory, but rather a generic codename or just whatever the vendor's name is. So basically, instead of having all these scary letters addressed to my actual name, I get stuff like "time to die, Home-PC!"
incredible video. the horror present in these is so good, PC Port completely overwhelming you with text boxes and the game screaming to be let out while everything is changing around you is horrifying. And I really like some of the stuff you showed! The more interesting sonic.exe ocs were cool as hell, and you raised some good points with even the good stuff just being walking simulators, but I feel like that’s kind of the point? You’re not playing an EXE game to play the original, you’re playing it for horror. The way PC Port executes it is beautiful, letting you play normally until a certain point then where everything goes steadily downhill. If you want a good “EXE” game not related to sonic, I’d check out “‘the” or a better search term, “Coronation Day” it’s a super Mario world one, and the tone that it sets up and the genuine fear you feel without being baited by jumpscares but JUST by the atmosphere alone is incredible. Highly recommend.
i know right? i could totally see a game played in HIS perspective. like, the intro is in the perspective of a normal 2d platformer, then when he loads his "waiting animation" like the text says, his eyes go wide and we go to his perspective of seeing the huge eyes glaring at him, and the game continues in his perspective. at some points you are able to move on your own, but eventually the player will return from being AFK and will control you for a random amount of time before leaving again. the player sucks ass at beating the level youre on, so youll be able to become familiar with your enviroment, but theres always a risk of your progress being reset when the player gains control. the whole aim of the game is to beat the level on your own before the player can, because then youll be on the next level while the player's screen is stuck at the previous one with nothing to control, giving you free will.

I'll be honest, I've always loathed Sonic.EXE. I find it wholly unentertaining, tryhard, and incompetent at nailing anything creative or interesting. _That being said_ *man* does PC Port look the exact opposite. I've still never been convinced by the premise, granted, but just the quality of those animations and aesthetics alone does WONDERS for it, the likes of which I could never have imagined coming out of the original creepypasta. Somewhat Random question, have you played the Godzilla NES creepypasta video game? It’s not the scariest thing, but I quite like how it plays as an side scrolling beat em up with weird and wacky levels with the occasional spook and little random bits of lore sprinkled throughout it.

Friday Night Funkin I think that’s what it’s called, has modders who made an entire I think 11 song catalogue dedicated SonicExe and various other Sonic related spooky things. All with different tones used, brand new songs, and completely new animations. They seem to be helping Sonic Exe with staying relevant.
I feel like most .Exe games and creepypastas could be great if remakes of them strayed more from the source material instead of trying to stick as close as it can, because most of the time the original of those creepypastas aren’t the best (no offense to the creators)
honestly its sad to know that the pc port was cancelled. the creator explained in the apiril fools pc port update but it sucks to know that it wont ever see completion.
There’s actually a update to PC Port, while private youtubers like Sunfrie were able to play and posted it. There’s changes to the animations but there’s another fourth wall break that’s pretty cool with some scary sprites of Knuckles, Tails, and egg man after dying
Awesome that you talked about this game! It's a pretty good re-telling ( it's a re-telling, right? ) of the original creepypasta. You should do more creepypasta videos, a few creepypastas that I like are IHATEYOU and the NES Godzilla Creepypasta, both have fan-made games and while they can be a bit cheesy, they have really good stories and the concept of both creepypastas are pretty nice.

I've been looking for actual UA-cam videos that aren't lets plays on this game forever; It's really underrated and actually pretty scary, as a fan of Sonic .Exe and the actually good fan games like Sonic.Exe: The Spirits of Hell and others that I'm too lazy to name right now.

I didn’t realize how few videos (in this style) you actually have, I thought you would have a lot more, all of them combined are only 10 and a half hours, I’m gonna end up binging them all by the end of the day, I’m not complaining btw, take as much time as you need on these, they are good quality, reminds me of Scott the woz but, rather then a blue background it has a red one. All you need is a red border and your set. But In no way is the number of videos a bad thing, it’s just something i didn’t realize

Despite how ridiculous the Sonic.EXE story is, there are some pretty great sonic.exe fangames out there, with Sonic.exe PC port being one of them.

I'll be honest, I've always loathed Sonic.EXE. I find it wholly unentertaining, tryhard, and incompetent at nailing anything creative or interesting. _That being said_ *man* does PC Port look the exact opposite. I've still never been convinced by the premise, granted, but just the quality of those animations and aesthetics alone does WONDERS for it, the likes of which I could never have imagined coming out of the original creepypasta. Thanks for shining a light on this!

Somewhat Random question, have you played the Godzilla NES creepypasta video game? It’s not the scariest thing, but I quite like how it plays as an side scrolling beat em up with weird and wacky levels with the occasional spook and little random bits of lore sprinkled throughout it.

Friday Night Funkin I think that’s what it’s called, has modders who made an entire I think 11 song catalogue dedicated SonicExe and various other Sonic related spooky things. All with different tones used, brand new songs, and completely new animations. They seem to be helping Sonic Exe with staying relevant.

I feel like most .Exe games and creepypastas could be great if remakes of them strayed more from the source material instead of trying to stick as close as it can, because most of the time the original of those creepypastas aren’t the best (no offense to the creators)

There’s actually a update to PC Port, while private youtubers like Sunfrie were able to play and posted it. There’s changes to the animations but there’s another fourth wall break that’s pretty cool with some scary sprites of Knuckles, Tails, and egg man after dying
Awesome that you talked about this game! It's a pretty good re-telling ( it's a re-telling, right? ) of the original creepypasta.
You should do more creepypasta videos, a few creepypastas that I like are IHATEYOU and the NES Godzilla Creepypasta, both have fan-made games and while they can be a bit cheesy, they have really good stories and the concept of both creepypastas are pretty nice.
