it was over once it was 12 v 13 but if youre gonna shoot out of the line to put a shot on you need to get it right or you deserve whatever consequence it costs your team

I’d argue it’s just more unfortunate if anything. He wasn’t aiming for that goal Walsh slipped a little but you can’t get away with manslaughter like that that’s definitely a send off

Contact was poor technique, intent from Joseph to come out of the line and direct contact with the head causing a category 1 concussion and Reece Walsh will now be sidelined for 11 days. Deserved sendoff, 2-4weeks suspension minimum for Joseph. Many people blaming the ref and saying QLD wouldn't have won if it were 12 on 13, but my response to that is, if you're going to come out of the line to put on a "big hit" you NEED to get it RIGHT. At Origin level, you're not playing for yourself and the highlight reel (something NSW in the past 2 decades seems to be forgetting) but rather for the other 12 men beside you and your state.
It was kinda of a shoulder charge to the head, his shoulder did make direct contact to the head, but textbook shoulder charge is no arm out but rather tucked in, but agree there was shoulder to his head, even if Walsh doesn't change levels last second, the hit would have gotten Walsh in the neck, far too high of a target from Joseph.

Anyone having a sook bout the send off has NEVER played a single minute of rugby let alone know what it feels like to be knocked out cold by a dirty tackle.
Full on shoulder charge to the head is a send off regardless who you follow.

Yep all part time followers are the ones who think slipping into a tackle means it doesn’t count. You can never tackle above the shoulders. It’s always been that way

Origin is simply the best. Definitely a brutal and bruising contest both mentally and physically. Best highlight for NSW were the 2 [legitimate] big hits and they got the ball.

He clearly intentionally ran out of the Lin and left the ground to put a solid hit on just got it wrong. The send off did ruin the game I'd be happy with a sin bin but Ashley Klein always over does the reffing
Walsh almost leant backwards as he passed which caused the charge to hit his head and not his chest which is where the tackle was aim at had Walsh been upright, its just crazy that they made it so the blues had one less player for pretty much the whole game, like c'mon mate Fark.

To be fair, NSW played pretty damn well for 12 men and pressured QLD for a big chunk of the game. Unfortunate to see both players put out of the match but that's how it goes..

That is a send off in an nrl game. Can definitely see why it was. But in origin that’s a bin. Especially when it could be deemed accidental. Had no time to pull out and Walsh was slipping, which is why this has happened multiple times this season, cos of his play style

Some times a lot of those missed tackles have context, a lot of those players are gassed from being a man down almost the whole game, it’s a tough enough game 13 versus 13.

No matter how good a team, at Origin level the game was over when Reece was hit. I feel sorry for the rest of the NSW team, they played damn well, but for that idiot Suaali. His Origin career is now a train wreck. Queensland would have won regardless. GO QUEENSLAND!
His selection was a joke to begin with. Never played Origin before, and he’s pissing off to Union next season. Sure, QLD selected Folau after he announced he was going to AFL, but by then he was an established Origin player. Selecting a bloke who is buggering off before he’s even played a game at the highest level is stupidity, and proves NSW still don’t get origin, 44 years later.

I fell asleep right on kick off, didn't see game, but the lad sent off is looking at 1-2 month suspension and if he fights it, but loses, he will get an additional 5wks
I haven't really felt NSW has had the mongrel they had pre 2000s, they've had some great players, but have lacked, not sure if it's down to coaching or just attitudes of players these days, I support them, so not coming from a biased angle, just what I've seen since the conception.

Defending running backwards is never good, but that's what happens 12 on 13. Sure, some tackles look embarrassing, but it's trying to cover too much ground and too many players. NSW actually did well to keep QLD under 50.

Game was over at the 8 minute mark sadly. QLD could score so easily because they always had a man advantage.
You say NSW should have played better defence but actually for 70 minutes of 12v13 they did as good as you can. At one point after half time NSW were dominating and back in the game at 10-20 but it just fell apart.
NSW looked like the better team this game actually but 12v13 is too hard to come back from. No one has ever been sent off that quick in origin. All other send offs happened an hour in.

Yeah, it's the ref's fault Sua'ali'i decided to but a shoulder into Walsh's head. Sau'ali'i knew exactly what he was doing and he deserved to be sent. Maybe if NSW stop all the dog shots and actually focus on playing good football then they would stop losing all the time.

Can't afford to have a send off and be one down in state of origin. When the stakes are this high and the calibre of players on the field it's a certain almost to then lose the game. Also didn't help the blues tackles were pretty poor which also led to their loss.

That is an illegal hit and won't be on any highlight reels. More importantly that has been part of nsw game plan for years. First attack lockyer, then attack Thurston and now reece walsh. It is pretty low and I'm disappointed in their coach and player.

Yeah NSW dont understand what it takes to play let alone win when it matters in the State of Origin series! Game II is in Melbourne who are basically QLD supporters anyways. The problem still with the blues is, even with the new coach is they keep rotating their lineup every other game and no one really gets to play long enough to make any sort of impact. Even luai was worse then he normally is and he did nothing all match. Their new coach is also cooked, he thought picking the team he did was the answer but QLD showed him he in over his head. Also he never holds any of his players to account for their poor performances he just coddles them so they are never motivated to grow unless financial incentive was guaranteed. The NSW Blues play for a paycheck and not for the people of their state - they are so out of touch with the spirit of the competition and the culture woven into the jersey that they continue to fool and embarrass the state of NSW year on year with really just average performances, the kind you expect to see on a sunday afternoon between to bottom 8 sydney clubs.
