Greatest sport in the world
This is the game Men play on our side of the world, we start at 4-5 years all the way up, we play rugby simultaneously playing both on the same weekend, we play for the tradition of the game and the clubs we belong to. Most of our teammates are Lifelong friends our fathers were friends and so on. The game has changed over the years for safety of the players but the old days were brutal beyond belief. England, Scotland, wales, the island nations of Samoa, Fiji ,south africa ,Australia and New Zealand are all Proud Leauge and Rugby nations, the true Standard of Sportsman.

Just so you know the helmets in the nfl are more likely to cause concussion then not wearing a helmet
Helmet to Helmet is illegal in the NFL. NFL rule's nowadays have pretty much taken all the the decent contact outta the game. I think it comes down to correct tackling technique which is obviously first & foremost in rugby league not so much in American football.You'd be surprised the amount of old school league players now suffering from CTE related trauma coming out lately now it's being recognised & documented.
Yes you are right there, thee only thing we where in nrl is head bracelets but only one or two players wear it pur team the rest wear nothing but we all wear mouth guards tho to protect our teeth and jaws
Yep they cause more blinded side hits and limit your ability to move your head out of harms way
Just to clarify..for everyone.. helmets don’t actually cause more concussions, they give the player a false sense of security so they are less likely to protect their head which thus results in more concussions…. It’s the same reason pad helmets were removed for Olympic boxing. Helmets are still effective for reducing fractures to the head and face however, I’d say concussion is more dangerous and therefore definitely more of a no helmet supporter … I also play rugby so

1:25 Its actually safer without pads, go figure right. In the NFL you run in head first thinking you're safe with a helmet on lol, in the NRL you just get a bit of whiplash, nether the less heads can still clash in the NRL and its still over all got healthier brains in players than the NFL.
The NFL is pretty much a protected species sport nowadays.
Nothing like the sound of decent hit no pad's involved just straight body too body contact.
FYI helmets don’t do anything for concussion, most damage form concussions are caused by deceleration… helmets only help with bones

I feel like American's would enjoy and understand Rugby League much better than Union. It has a lot more similarities in game structure to the NFL. I.e 6th tackle being akin to 4th down and kicking on last tackle.

A legal tackle must be below the shoulders. You have to use your arms to tackle and you can’t lift a player and tilt them over 90 degrees in the air. Despite the lack of padding and protection, most people who understand rugby league would say that tackling is still safer than the NFL due to the techniques and protocols that are applied and enforced in the sport from a very young age 🏉

"shoulder charges" with no attempt to wrap the arms around the tackled player (like you see @1:35) are now illegal in both Rugby league and Rugby. You must make an attempt to grab the player nowadays

Not sure how much you know about Rugby, but defensive hits in rugby are not allowed to be big contact hits like in American football, they have to be holding/embracing/dragging tackles that whose purpose must be to slow down and drag the opponent to the ground, which is when he has to immediately release the ball. Any players on the ground can't play for the ball, and you can't try to take the ball from behind the player, but can only try to do it from your own goal side of that player.
This is why injuries are way less severe and less frequent than in American Football, even though they have basically no armor on. Many of the hits in this video could be seen as gross violations of the rules and to be quite dirty and at lower levels would most likely result in penalties/bans, where the physicality is a bit less extreme. At the highest level, they allow a bit more, since the speed of the game is so fast, it is almost impossible to eliminate the impact completely.
However, if you look very closely, even in these "big hits" apart from a few, the tackles are not direct mass vs mass hits, but come at an angle, they latch onto the player with minimal direct impact, and use their body's momentum to "throw"/bring them to the ground. If they'd be going full body to body crash contact like in American Football, these players wouldn't be getting up at all. If you look at the 2nd hit for example, in the slow motion you can see this pretty clearly, even though professionals do these power redirections and grapples so quick, it is almost impossible to see. At first it looks devastating, but it is actually a pretty clean and thus safe tackle
Also, quite importantly, you are never allowed to tackle someone without the ball, unless you are the ball carrier. And defensive players can't use their hands for anything else than for holding onto the ball carrier, they can't push him, pull him, strangle him, hit him etc. However, the ball carrier is allowed to use their hands more freely, to push/deflect defenders, as long as he doesn't go down

Concussion is the biggest issue in this sport looks good but these guys will suffer in later yrs with dementia.
Even though the hits look hard, they put themselves into the tackle where they wont get hurt. Alot more cautious where they put their body on the line cause of no pads.!!!
