To answer some stupid comments like why only 600hp ? Stock fuel system, stock transmission and emissions legal with the 2 factory catalytic converters. Some of the comments not very smart thinking you can just add a couple turbos and have reliable 1,000 whp.
@JMFA88 Have you looked at exhaust routings for single turbo V8 systems. Packaging and installation issues are why twins are popular for V8 conversions.
@Dave Micolichek to much pressure inside the combustion chamber can, even if you have low RPM if your Rods can't handle it due to boost pressure it will snap
very nice package, it looks like a factory stock option , nicely done ! especially love that it looks unassuming, well build and sorted. and it won't break the bank as all major components remain can be run and need not be replaced. really great !
---- FOR EVERYONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ONLY MAKING 600 HP----- They are on stock camshaft, valvesprings, and pushrods. Understand that they're showing off just the kit. With updated valve train of course the kit would be able to run up WAY higher numbers.
600 doesn't seem much at first until you see the gain. Stock it ran 383whp and 603 with just 9lbs of boost.... thats a 220whp gain just from pure boost a lil more fuel from the ever so slightly larger injectors.
If they removed the cats or put in higher flowing turbo designed ones and put the intakes in the fender, it could easily tap 650 or more...Maybe even use meth injection and hit 700 safely.
600 is not going to raise any eyebrows, but these guys are far smarter than most. I know because I have been down this road before. I added twin 50's on my '00 Mustang GT with 8psi. First to go was the transmission in quick order. Rebuilt it, and it was quickly qranaded AGAIN. So, bought a heavy duty TKO 600. And then...the motor lasted a few short weeks before I had to replace it with a built unit. And then...fuel system, supporting mods, and 65K later it was finally done. In conclusion: "There is no way in hell the stock engine/transmission could hold anything more than what they tuned it for. Hell, they could have turned the boost up high enough to make a bomb..... BUT WITH A STOCK ENGINE? WHY!?🤔
It’s a perfect street car around 600hp. You can take this to the canyons without killin yourself. What good is 1000hp up in the hills with non stop s turns and hairpins? If they wanted 700 they could’ve done a build for it. The episode isn’t called, “How much power can we get out of this camaro with an unlimited budget?”
I mean for a daily driver with an untouched engine, stock cam, transmission and rear end, its the best of both worlds.. And besides, you can always turn the boost up.
Safe and reliable kit if you're not touching anything in the engine. Doesn't seem like much with the numbers guys are cranking out of 5.3s but keep in mind that, at the very least, they're filing rings and upgrading the valve train. You can't go crazy on stock rings or the ring expansion will cause the ends to meet and then push up or down busting apart the piston. Also, stock cam isn't an optimal grind for boost and stock valve springs will introduce valve float much sooner with boost behind them. This is a pretty straight forward bolt-on, plug and play kit. Pretty dang good for what it is, too. Small twins will spoil fast and feel about like a roots blower without any parasitic loss
Man that was an awesome build! The part where I saw myself having to yank the engine is when they started drilling the oil pan. I’m the dumb ass that would dump the cut plug in the pan…
Love these videos!! Please keep them coming! and with wide varieties of cars! Thank you!! I want to TT my 2011 Ram 1500 5.7, hope you guys can do something close to that 👍🙏
Very nice job puts some nice power in your car without getting stupid you can always do more power but for a car every day driving more the enough too have fun with .
Bolt on superchargers make 600 hp too. I don't know why they'd "sneeze" at that. The Z06 and ZR1 use Eaton "bolt on" superchargers. It is true that you can ultimately make bigger gains with twin turbos, but at 600 hp, they're still in the same performance range.
I dont give a damn what they say, you dont drill and tap into an oil pan without removing it. The chance of getting metal shavings in the bottom end is too great. It wouldnt take much to totally screw up the crankshaft and rod bearings. And their goes your motor.
This is great power for a stock engine and trans combo. And I bet you its only running about 7 to 9 pounds of boost. Thats nothing for a twin setup capable of 25+ pounds of boost. You rebuild the engine and trans with a better fuel delivery system and ect. You can easily make 1200 plus to the wheels with this setup
@@PurpleHeartVR Right, in 2014, the zl1 started around $55k (i know because i was looking in to at the time). The zl1 came loaded, packaged roughly with the same as a 2ss , which was around $40k. Lets not forget that unless you know what you are doing, you will need to hire someone to install this professional (voiding the gm warranty). I'm guessing at the time, it would cost $7k to purchase this kit and install it (pulling that number out my ass to be honest). I get 600HP with a power adder on a stock motor but why bother with twin turbos if that's the goal? Seems like going with a blower (like a used one off an LSA engine that everyone has been doing for years) would be more economical and clean. Even with the prices going way up on the used market, it can still be done for less than half of this for similar results.

if you want a car to be reliable and can be used daily with a big power, 600-700hp is enough if you dont want your tranny and rods goes kaboom
@JMFA88 of course there is, you get to sell someone a second turbo and all the piping that goes with it :D
Yeah, why twins? Why not just supercharge it? The stock blowers go up to 700 horse and you don't have to mess with exhaust and Intake routing
