I highly recommend using the attack move instead of a normal move. You can do this by selecting some soldiers and press "q" or click the upper left icon. When you do this, they will move to your selected location of course. But they will attack the enemies that are in the way, so they will use their max shooting distance. Also when upgrading the houses, you can click and drag your mouse to select multiple houses and upgrade them all at once (or the maximum you can afford).

I like using Lookout Towers to help me look for expansions without spending a bunch of time shooting zambies. It also helps with spotting waves when you upgrade them later.
its triggering me that he wont build a warehouse to store his excess production and then has full resources on things. makes comment complaining about warehouse.....youtuber builds warehouse 20 seconds later.
Haven't played that game yet, but it looks pretty similar to C&C and AOE2 in regards to your defensive strategy. You definitely need multiple layers of well fortified walls with manned towers and artillery plus maybe 4 strong mobile units to send wherever needed. The walls and static defenses are only there to hold the hordes up the time you need to get your mobile troops there. You need a fortified defense around your inner base, too. As soon as they're in, you can't stop em anymore.
if you want to improve your outcome, use the pause mode to expand, move troops and in general troubleshoot your strategy... also remember to use the move attack command so the troops star firing before they get to close to enemy lines...
Agree. Remembers me the good old AOE2 and C&C times. Especially AOE2 playing in coop mode 2 vs 6 AI at max difficulty. Whole nights spent at the PCs, connected through serial cables. And what a scream fest, when the one got rolled by massive enemy waves and yelled for help or had to retreat to your base. Always had extra wine bottles handy for the apologies to my neighbors the day after LOL.

When clearing zombies I found that 1 ranger with 4ish soldiers + as many archers as possible is the best micro one of the rangers around the horde but be careful because if the zombies go through the animation of the attack it will hit your ranger no matter what. Anyways keep the others on range while keeping agro on one ranger. This works phenomenally with the acid spitting zombies.
Mr SPLATTERCAT, have considered constructing your walls a space apart with some spikes in the middle. A spike sandwich if you were. It might stop the jumping fellas getting in.
@SplatterCatGaming you really should imbed troop towers into your walls. it makes the walls stronger and gives a safe vantage point for your soldiers to defend the walls from. also increases their firing range by 4!!! FOUR! thats huge for soldiers. you can build a tower directly on a wall piece if you dont want to delete wall segments.
Can you build bait for hoards, something like a big chunk of wall just in range of your defenses? Only thing is that might draw them closer to their base. Just wondering.
Splat you should move troops and conquer zone building Tesla Towers and walls with Balistas and kill more zombies you can, else at the end of the days you'll submerged with Zees. Dont let your troops sit in the middle of your city doing nothing!
Look out tower is really use full to help preplan your expansion ,try put some on defenses edges. And getting and maintaining industial tech early is really OP.
I started thinking that features like coop, a hero character and vehicles would be a good addition, then I realized I just wanted Red Alert 2 set in a zombie apocalypse.
Hey, I haven't played this game yet but like you said at the start you've got a massive gold bottleneck. You also seem to be too focused on static defense early on which might be the cause as it limits your growth and brings on the classic rts mistake of over valuing a fixed position. Even though this game seems to have infinite source pools , as in the wood/food/mines don't exhaust, the limit you can actively pull plus the scaling time means stagnation so early is a death sentence as you won't ever out scale the waves like you want. You might want to try as thinking of the current zombies on the map as the first threat and build a cheap force of like 30 rangers by day 20 while walling off three sides then picking one to expand into then cycle around. But I haven't played so I have no idea how easy this would be to execute it does remind me of other rts games particularly stronghold series as it's very easy to forget about your economy and want to build sick ass forts. Building beggers castles is the reason I often lost stronghold games. Also towers don't seem cost effective either go balasita or just more rangers behind double walls for early defense and rush towards titans and executioners. I do want to say nothing here is meant to insult you or bash on the turtle play style. I only recently found your channel and have been digging your videos, especially with how well you play while providing engaging entertaining commentary. Best of luck on the final wave from all sides.
I tryed the army type, got 35 soldiers, even destroyed a village of the doom, falling back to towers, the problem is, about day 66 something like that an attack game from south and i had to fronts in that direction and unfortunately my units where put on the one the zombies didnt come. So the time i got to the other walls it was all down, i had a lot of ballistas to help. I kinda understimated that wave... it was huge
I had a massive base, with the whole city divided into sections, farming section, industrial etc. All with their own layered walls. I've just lost all the outer farming lands to several hordes, and my industrial sector is massively underfed. And all efforts to reclaim the old land has resulted in attraction of just more zombies ;c I'm so stuck on what to do..
That sounds exactly, point for point, like Attack on Titan. So now, I'd recommend you find the kid living in your city who can turn into a mega-zombie, and use him to reclaim the land.

I would invest in the market splat produces the food upkeep of houses and sells any excess resources that you have automatically for more cash flow
