I’ve got same hair texture as her but longer hair and I try to slick down my hair to the ponytail but my hair is uneven, so every time I try they just pop up . She’s got way less hair than me and she can easily slick I down . This really tells me something 😑

I have have medium length natural hair, and I can can say this works. I detangle my hair with that new pink brush. Used some water and moisture for easy slip. That hard brush is the key. Usually I would have a bump in my hair from attempting to slick it back. I have to say I’m proud of myself.

Even my hair doesn’t lay like this and I have 4a hair . Every time I slick it down , it does wave up but I still have a few stubborn curly hairs that REFUSE to lay down and I use a brush , water and gorilla snot gel .

Beautifully Mastered I have 4b hair too and I usually use the Aragon eco styler and then after slicking it, I wrap it tightly with a scarf to help it out. Although it be hot af on the bus and my edges be sweating up 😪 it still looks presentable

All these tutorials useless to me. My 4c hair don't stay laid for nothing. I've tried all the gels these UA-camrs use. None works. They just crust up on my hair and it's difficult to wash it off. I'mma stick to just wearing wigs.
Sorry to hear that! On a scale of 1-10, how thick in texture is your 4C Hair? and what steps do you use in trying to accomplish a slick down because the gel isn't always the problem. Most times the problem could be from the preparation of your natural hair prior to putting the gel
I have to only put gel on my hair or else it won’t lay down and then just put the moisturizers on my ends only. I also try to keep my hair freshly washed. I use only the Eco styler with the red or green top. The one she used doesn’t work for me. I hope that works for you. Gels with alcohol in them work better but can be very drying so just make sure you at least moisturize your ends. I’ve been doing this method for years and my hair usually gets to past bra length before I chop it off. Hope this helps.
She may have 4c hair, but maybe the hair is "fine" not coarse. That makes a difference as to whether your hair will lay flat. Fine hair will lay easier. Coarse hair tends to stick up more because the individual strands are thicker.
THat was my thought i have 4c hair and it is thick as hell which i love, i could only achieve that look with a press first and then everything else she did lol

Try another gel and also tying it down for 15 minutes. You may also need to moisten your hair (not soak it) before using gel

Beautifully Mastered I have 4b hair too and I usually use the Aragon eco styler and then after slicking it, I wrap it tightly with a scarf to help it out. Although it be hot af on the bus and my edges be sweating up 😪 it still looks presentable

All these tutorials useless to me. My 4c hair don't stay laid for nothing. I've tried all the gels these UA-camrs use. None works. They just crust up on my hair and it's difficult to wash it off. I'mma stick to just wearing wigs.
Sorry to hear that! On a scale of 1-10, how thick in texture is your 4C Hair? and what steps do you use in trying to accomplish a slick down because the gel isn't always the problem. Most times the problem could be from the preparation of your natural hair prior to putting the gel
yeah most definitely, try to do it on freshly washed hair without any products usually while its still wet so it lays better it works for me
I have to only put gel on my hair or else it won’t lay down and then just put the moisturizers on my ends only. I also try to keep my hair freshly washed. I use only the Eco styler with the red or green top. The one she used doesn’t work for me. I hope that works for you. Gels with alcohol in them work better but can be very drying so just make sure you at least moisturize your ends. I’ve been doing this method for years and my hair usually gets to past bra length before I chop it off. Hope this helps.
Use more water, then scoop up the gel. Be prepared to use most of the container. 😉

She may have 4c hair, but maybe the hair is "fine" not coarse. That makes a difference as to whether your hair will lay flat. Fine hair will lay easier. Coarse hair tends to stick up more because the individual strands are thicker.
