- Golestan Palace in Tehran used to be the royal residence of the Qajar Kings during their reign of 131 years. During this period the palace was practically rebuilt. The complex, as it stands today, was last renovated in 1865. It consists of a group of buildings and halls, each with their own unique character and purpose.
The name "Golestan" means "Flower Garden", and you might think the large courtyard must be all but full of flowers. Yet, the garden, is just like a typical Persian garden with some flowers, trees, and ponds. It is named as such since all the interior walls and floors and the courtyard walls are covered with floral patterned ceramic tiles
The mirrorwork, woodwork, plaster and stucco work in this palace are stunning! no amount of detail has been spared . . .

Some items on display in this palace, such as the Peacock Throne and the Naderi Throne are replicas because of the exorbitant number of jewels and gems encrusted on them. The originals have been moved to the Museum of National Treasury in the Central Bank of Iran. If you visit the palace, you must also see the museum as well, because the two are inseparable! In the Netherlands you pay 1000 euro for a 10 sqaure meter room without sanitary facilities.... the poor people now have less luxury than the slaves at the chateau at that time.. most rich people nowadays get rich from squeezing poor people ...llike the did in the middleages till begin 1900's .. . they are in a good position themselves and those who work for them live for 1000 euros a month in a room of 10 square meters ......... .. so that the money they earn keeps coming back to the rich in a circle... the poor become poor, the rich become richer by squeezing poor people. remember that when you watch this video. And as much as I appreciate that old buildings are being restored, this does not have to be at the expense of the poorest in this world. People like this don't know anything about the value of money.......... afther your death you can't take this to heaven. you know what Jesus said............. about the needle and the camel.

Very beautiful palace.....unfortunately not many people know this place.
If you visit Tehran on a tour, it's one of the major highlights. It's well worth a visit. But don't go there during the Persian New Year. It tends to get very crowded.

my country is amazing and our rich history added to our cultures that west would not understand. ammianus marcelin roman historian wrote in his epic work in 380 AD rerum gesta rum , when king shahpur ii the great attacked to amida ., and besieged the town.,it was saturday and people of amida got together out of town in saturday bazaar to sell theirs goods, there were 5000 men and women out of the town., i saw the army of king stopped at the gates without one soldiger moving out of theirs line. people outside of town became frightened and begun to run toward the gate. without theirs belonging . king send an unarmed man to tell them , they must not be afraid. no one will attack them. and they can carry all theirs belonging . ammianus wondered how is it possible. and says if we roman were there ,we would kill every man and woman and took all theirs belonging as booty., and it is not fair what american and european is doing with my country. you can,t find one slave in our society before islam in iran. that is my country persia.
