    I'm confused, Do I really need to remove the front tire and wheel to change the Rear shocks? :-)~

    Truck rear shocks are so easy to replace and videos like these prove that for those who have never done them. Really not worth paying anyone to do it for you unless you just don’t have the tools.

    Used this video as a guide to do the rear shocks on my '06 Ram 1500. Thank you. Instructions were perfect, but having a lift in my driveway would have made it so much easier... The shocks I replaced were the factory shocks with 87,000 miles on them. The bolts were a bear to get off, especially the uppers. Either way, your instructions were right on. Thanks again!

      +Harry Buck We're glad the video helped you out. That's a lot of miles for the original equipment! No surprise about the rust though haha Up here in New England, trucks are like rust magnets so we know exactly what that's like. Thanks for watching. For anyone else who might be doing this job, we carry the parts shown in the video on our website. Order from us and we'll cover the shipping. do you need to have the jack to support the axel so it want fall when you take off the shocks

      You need jacks to support the truck because you're removing the tire. If you don't remove the tire, it's almost impossible to reach the top bolts.

    I to have a 2010 RAM 1500 any idea what causes the swelling of the lug nuts. I have owned many cars in my life and this is the first one i have had this issue with.

    • @OldManBalls56
      @OldManBalls56 8 років тому

      I have an '06. It's caused by the lug nut being constructed of two pieces. It has the actual nut and then a chrome cap over it. Over time with heat and pressure the cap warps and causes the swelling. At least that's my understanding of it. Aftermarket lug nuts get rid of it since most are a one piece design. $20 fix on ebay

    • @buickcenturion2328
      @buickcenturion2328 8 років тому

      GeeksGuideTo it's a steel lug nut with a aluminum cover so the steel rusts and that's what makes them swell

    • @Codlikedburburs
      @Codlikedburburs 6 років тому

      I have a 2009 Ram and the dealer advised they could not locate anything but the Chrome clad lug nuts which swell. I located chromed all steel lug nuts on eBay for about $31.00 with free shipping and for about the price the dealer wanted for two of the OEM lug nuts. See LUGNUTGUYS on eBay for your needs. I have used my now for 28 months and multiple tire rotations without a complaint of swelling from the dealer who gladly did the full set replacement while rotating the tires.

    Did mine on my 06 Ram 1500 from the flat of my back on a creeper. Would’ve been easier if I had removed the spare tire. Those top bolts were a pain.

      1A Auto Parts and also mine is a 2wd hemi 5.7. And for the bottom bolts, which way are they supposed to be facing, because mine are facing outward, that's the way they were so I reinstalled them the same way.
      And besides reading my manual, I did watch your video before going at it. THANKS

    Thanks for all the great videos and instructions!
    What was the reason for not continuing to use Bilstein as a rear shock absorber in this video. I have to change mine here soon and most of the people recommend Bilstein. What's your take on it?
    Thanks

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  8 років тому

      +Octavian Deac We are primarily an automotive parts distributor, so when we do these videos, we're always installing our own parts into the application. We really just shoot the videos to help people learn how to work on their own cars so they can save a little cash. Bilstein are good, but ours are just as good and at under $60.00 for a pair, coupled with a lifetime warranty, they're the obvious choice in our opinion! We also ship right to your door for free!
