I'm feeling the 80's training montage music!
sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know a tool to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly lost my login password. I love any assistance you can give me!
@Evan Idris Instablaster :)
@Raphael Ali Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Raphael Ali it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much, you really help me out!
@Evan Idris No problem =)
Never watched a battery tray being removed and replaced before! Thanks for this tutorial.
Brilliant work. The prep is everything as we all know...but sometimes we can get a wee bit lazy fantazy. Retored my faith in rattle cans and the work needed in prep.
Outstanding result Matt! It's all about the prep....KUDOs for your perservence!
Hey brother! I'm a Ford Foxbody Mustang guy... but I always love seeing the extreme similarities of the GM F-body. That engine bay came out beautiful and I love that factory color. Keep up the great work! Great to see American history kept alive (even with a little modification, lol). Thanks again!
I have not even seen it and I’m exited 😅
Been looking forward to this for a month! lol THis videos are amazing it will help me build my iroc z at some point :D
I thought I blacked out and wrote your comment here as I also have an IROC I'm rebuilding, and needing to do this. And, been waiting a month! Hah ha!!! Let's do this, Matt! Can't wait to see the video!!!
Same here 😅 have a blue 86 I’m wanting to get started on next month
I had to re watch the episode on my phone to grab some pictures, thanks for the video / reference material!
Great production of the video man. Sweeping shots, music and fade outs. End results look fantastic. Can’t wait to see the rest of the series
Glad I found this channel. I'm buying back an 87 trans am I owned in high school, from 93 til 99. It's ROUGH. I have decent paint and body experience but minimal mechanical experience. I want to restore it to what it was when I owned it and beyond, including a LS swap (have someone lined up for this, way beyond me). I have a feeling if I do this project, this channel will be most valuable!
I have no words other than.. DAMN FINE JOB!
Absolutely amazing! loved this video. was thinking of doing this to my car and now i know what it takes and it is possible in a regular guys garage.
From a Ford guy, Thank You! You have given me the confidence to start doing more painting on my own. Like your T/A.
One moment yesterday he said tomorrow the video will be up 🔥 lmao
your comment made me realize I scheduled it for the wrong day!
i love these longer formatted videos showing the process with a how-to with it as well.

Excellent video Matt! Worth waiting for!
I’ve been doing this type of stuff for so long and never finishing the job because rattle cans aren’t going to give good results painters tell say. This is inspirational I must say. I’m in the middle of a ls swap on a Camaro and I was going to half ass the engine bay because I didn’t want to pay someone to spray it. Rattle can it will be!!!!
This is a clinic on how to do this right, really like the step by step.
Kick ass Trans Am. Our build are similar - yours is just that much cleaner and better done than mine.
I'm supposed to be inheriting my family's 89 but this is probably my favorite channel cause I got a 02 chevy too so this channel covers everything I need love the content bro
WOW! Came out great. Now I can see why you went ahead and pulled the front bumper cover and associated. Only way to do it right.
Awesome Matt! I've been thinking about replacing that insulation behind the dash. Wasn't looking forward to it. Thank you for the great info. Looking forward to this build!
In this episode of How It’s Made... 1986 Pontiac Trans Am.
Much love to the Firechicken. Looking sharp Matt.
Well done, sir! From what I've seen of how most car companies paint engine bays from the factory, it's unlikely that even looked that good when it was new.
It looks great Matt! It will really look good when you raise the hood to show off that LS engine.
Super cool video. I am working on a 82 Trans Am myself and have to do the exact thing - paint the engine bay and replace the battery tray as well. I already bought the tray but have not installed it. It was good to see you do it so I can get an idea. Great work and keep the videos coming. 👍
Awesome video! You taught me a lot about primer. I didn't know about the filler primer and for sure will be using that. They even had it in red which will help my color scheme. Thanks again!
Excellent content once again, dense with material. Love the music; it suits the video so well. Worth the wait. Long video yet felt short, so I was immersed the entire time; could have went on for two hours and left me wanting more.
These people disliking these video need to get a life. I love the attention to detail. Great work but and great editing. Im in the process of painting my engine bay. I was gonna go rattle can but decided to go with urathane based.
The engine bay looks like it did from the factory. Absolutely awesome job with it!! I definitely think you wouldn't have any problems doing the outside body and painting with how you've done the engine bay!! 😎👍
Another awesome video, I'm very happy with it being a long one as well. Can't wait for the next one!
Looks awesome great work!!! You are inspiring me to do this to my 85 TA I’m restoring. My engine is out.
You make great TV. I expect to see you on TV Saturday morning within 2 years.
I had the same issue with mouse damage on my '87 IROC and I'm so glad I pulled the dash.
The music is so appropriate for the car. 80s all the way
It was relaxing watching this transformation of the engine bay and job well done! I love the attention to detail and have done similar projects like this in my past, but never to this degree or quality. Well done!
Excellent job Matt 👏 👍 the prep pays off in the paint and your hard work really shows!
Looks good man. Good job ! I know the effort that it takes to do this exact project. This was me last January. Sanding, filling holes, removing everything, primer, paint, what a process.... but the results are well worth it. Good job
wow Matt great job. this was so satisfying to watch!
AWESOME work !! Dude it was worth the wait . As some one who lived through the 80's the music was a great touch it made me feel like i was watching a 80's video. Can't wait for the next update.
I give you credit for patience and your explanations are great on how to..
Always love watching your videos. Iv got an 89 RS which I'm daily driving right now. Great motivation to wanna get out there and start doing little things here and there with it. But once I get another vehicle I'm definitely restoring it. Great content man keep it up.
I have such respect for the work and attention to detail you do in these videos. Well, I saw in one of your videos, you arent married, so now it makes a little sense. The amount of time you must spend on 3 vehicles is impressive. I gradated HS in 1988, so you are working on 2 of the hottest cars of my HS years. Great job... you motivated me to get my ass out and clean the engine bay on my Suburban today. Looks great, though the wife, who is now working from home was not happy with the noise from my pressure washer...lol like I said, you arent married:)
This! This right here is why i subscribed to you awhile back. Thanks for the info and all. Be awesome to see you get your own show on motortrend one day . Thanks again. Making me want to work on my 87 TA even more.
Well I’ve never been this early.
A much anticipated upload, Thank you Matt
Hell yeah Matt looks great. I’ll be starting on my 85 TransAm in the next few weeks.
Awesome video! I was thinking that it would be cool if you could do a cost break down at the end of the swap.
Bro that music, I'm diggin it I can't figure out Flash Gordon's gonna jump out or if I need to dance with Jane Fonda. Love it.
Looking good Matt! I disagree with the black cowl, i would have went blue and black on the moulding/screen for wipers, but hey.. Be sure to paint ya wiper arms also and re-spray the grille between them!
Great job on the painting of the engine bay
Impressive job. Growing up these cars were everywhere, not anymore. I've parted out a few of them. I remember the 1st time I dropped the dash in my Formula(an 89)how daunting it seemed. These cars are actually pretty easy to work once you start doing it. Wish I still had mine. Did the TA come with a nice dash pad already? I thought you had an overlay in there too. Can't wait to see this baby running!👍🏻👍🏻
Nice job man, I’m on the same step with my 86 T/A. Been following your videos like guidelines. Can’t wait to see the wiring video soon I know I’m going to need it.
Freaking beautiful the way It came out dude
Matt, really enjoy watching ur videos.pretty knowledgeable
Awesome step by step video instructions. Thanks
Another great one Matt, the engine bay turned out really nice. Looking forward to the next ones!
Thanks for sharing,
DC
It looks amazing. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth over doing. Nice job
I read in a forum you can use the brake booster and master cylinder from a ls1 4th gen. I think its a direct fit you would just have to make new brake lines. Please make a video on this!
Thats what I’m using and already have the parts👍
Man I had this same car but a 1989 same color only had 420000 miles on it when I got rid of it watching these videos is makin me want it back I do have a nice 8x10 picture of it hanging in the garage tho Lol that engine bay came out beautiful for rattle can I’m a amazed
Well done and great work! I appreciate your attention to detail as well as getting that job done right!
Awesome job!!. Great video and excited to see more keep them coming.
I'm jealous lol... I'm glad you changed your mind and went all in on the engine bay.
Looks good, like the satin black.
GOOD JOB! I Enjoyed watching that. Got me motivated to get my butt back out in the garage.
great job! nice to see this old girl getting some much needed attention instead of a trip to the junk yard...
Your best video ever and the best work you’ve done to date! Keep up the good work Matt!
Looks freaking killer man!! 👍👍👍... Can't wait too see it completely done...
It turned out really nice. Congrats on it.
Absolutely great job that looks outstanding!
Who would give this a thumbs down? Awesome vid.
Thanks for all the hard work and effort that goes into making these videos. Great job mate!.
This was awesome. I honestly though for a few that you were going to make this a KITT car. That blue looks very good. Nice to see this video
That engine bay looks amazing great job!
When you eventually get to it, what's your plan for the dented fender?
Both fenders need to get replaced as they’re rotted out in multiple spots by the ground fx
Loving it, can't wait until she's finished
Great job Matt. I always enjoy watching your videos.
Nice work. Been looking forward to this video to see how you decided to go about painting the bay. You did yours almost identically to how i did mine about two months ago, except i chose not to go with the automotive touch up brand, and went with the duplicolor perfect match touch up(7 cans of color, one can of clear). Looks like we pretty much got the same result. Originally i wanted to copy what Tibo on TGO did to his bay, but holy hell that level of clean requires a serious patience for body work that I'll never have lmao
Inspired me to redo the cowl panel, screen and wiper arms on my Ls swapped 85. Followed your lead and purchased the same products, came out great. Perhaps a video on engine bay wiring management would be on your list. Ideas to hide some of those damn wires. Thank you
Right now I'm in the middle of refinishing the engine bay of my 1960 Jaguar Mk-2. I fully appreciate all of the effort you put in to making your project look so great! Did you have any issues using the Dupli-Color primers along with the basecoat paint you chose?
Looks awesome.Someday at a later date..probably repaint I will strip mine down like that too. Right now its pretty clean but I would so like to do this.
Ty for this video. I wasn't planning on doing my engine bay for my 59 Elcomeno. But you've convinced me to do so. I will be going throw all ur steps ty again. Iv subscribed an will be watching
Love your two car garage. I need to find somewhere like that.
I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. I am glad your videos are as long as they are because you really do a great job explaining each step in your process. Bravo, the engine bay looks amazing. I would be a little nervous tearing down an engine bay like you did. How did you keep all the parts straight so you didn’t loose any?
That is a thing of beauty my friend
1:18 that whole part what hilarious 😂
Wow awesome video Matt, you put a ton of work into making that engine bay look great!
Nice job bud.... Looks super good
Turned out really nice.
Outstanding job, Matt. Well done!
I’m loving the video as always. Highly detailed. I love it
im lookinf fowred to more videos i have a 1986 pontiac firebird just like yours im building and you have showed me a lot of things and thank you so much keep the videos comming
Great work man! I always go overboard with the paint! Sucks that they made the battery tray weld in for those. My 2nd gen is a bolt in, in and out with just 4 bolts
Really great video Matt! now i want to pull my motor and paint! I'm amazed at how thorough of a job you are doing! really great. The only thing I want to say is that POR (in my experience) is not nearly as good as advertised. It will come off and usually is sheets. I'm sorry i used it.
Thanks, I had good results on my camaro. I used it to fill some heavy rust pits on the rocker then coat in bondo. Its been good for years so far, but I did notice as I was sanding the engine bay here that it would flake off really easy on anything that wasnt rust.
Looks so good! So so good! Thank you for the content!
Looks really good Matt.
Its amazing how much better a bay will look after a tidy up like that. Rattle cans and paint have certainly come a long way in the last decade.
Couple of years back I re sprayed the whole trunk area of one of my cars, it was a huge job and awkward in some areas but damm it looked great afterwards and was so worth it.
Are there any plans to fix or replace the dented front guard at some stage of this fix up? I'm hoping so.
Keep up the good work, am looking forward to seeing this cars resurrection.
Now THAT was some tedious work but worth it. It looks fantastic!! Peace
Thanks for the video.Nice work there LsxMatt !!!
