Menstrual Hygiene Day | Chintamani | Shankara Cancer Hospitals | SSNCCPR

On 28th May, the team from Sri Shankara National Centre for Cancer Prevention and Research (SSNCCPR) & Shankara Cancer Hospitals, Bangalore visited 3 PU Colleges of Chintamani to raise awareness about correct menstrual hygiene practices.
The field workers of Chintamani performed an interesting opening act where they led the audience to listen to our doctor’s awareness session as they were educated about
*Menstruation
*Various sanitary products available
*Menstrual hygiene & Safety practices during periods
*How to correctly use the menstrual hygiene products and dispose them safely and responsibly
*Poor menstrual hygiene practices and the early onset of cervical cancers
*Nutrition during menstruation to supplement the lost blood and to stay strong and healthy
*PMS(Premenstrual Syndrome), PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) and other mental health aspects during menstruation
The awareness sessions were fun as our M.Sc Psychology interns from Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial College performed a closing skit summarising the awareness sessions. Through activities like these we aim at giving education and providing awareness to the young girls, and indirectly educate and spread awareness to their mothers, sisters, relatives, and friends.
