Love the two videos that I could find. Bode says the same as my old world cup racing coaches use to say - pick lines, stay over the top, front of the boot!! and flex.. :0)
1:10 I was going to say, in contrast to what was said earlier in the video, I usually distribute my weight more evenly than usual between my uphill and downhill skis when faces with icy/slick surfaces. Too much weight, and the ski's bite will give out. No enough weight, and the ski won't bite enough.
Yes, if you take a nice strong in balance stance, your going to be able to rotate the skis effectively. Also, the minute your out of control, stop and regain controll. Also, try to make multiple turns per mogul, and soft your skis over them, work on tip snow contact. If your tips are flying upwards after the spine on the mogul, your not in the "Drivers seat" and you need to drive those tips down and over the bump wich will allow for even more front of the boot contact and controll and fun
And here I was always told to stay in the trough line while skiing moguls. I never liked skiing them for that reason because you get bounced around in the trough line. But actually going over the moguls makes more sense. Thanks Bode!
@kwalliander an A-Frame isn't always a bad thing. Racers use that technique because it allows them to get extreme angles without booting out. If you notice in some of these videos Bode will double pole plant, again that is something racers will do. A-Frames are not the best for the general public because we don't need to such an extreme angles to arch our skis (simply because we are going at 1/5 the speed of a ski racer).
yea my tips stay down pretty well in the moguls but i ski narrow most of the time... once in a while on icy bumps ill lose an edge and go for a ride... ill have to try skiin wider in em
In the moguls Bode has got a good range of extension but very little flexion, hence why the moguls keep kicking him into the air, he is not fully absorbing the mogul and so the speed he carries creates forward rather than downhill pressure.
@skeetcouper Yes its called ski technique learn from from the best...learn how to carve a ski in control. What your talking about is running into the back of a mogul to slow down. Practice on a nice smooth run making round carved turns, then try same thing in moguls." Watch and listen" several more times to the video. Bode talks about turning on top staying out of the holes..its just real good ski tech.. the same principals in moguls or making big turns...
but you know what i like most, listening to people talk alot, that really gets me stoked to go skiing! bodie and his coach shouldn't give up the day job, how is bodie any good with a coach like that... see how many times once bodie finishes talking and his coach starts, that he stands there and starts tapping his pole in the snow, brilliant, so uninterested, he doesn't want to be standing around talkin any more than i want to listen to him
the coach isn't coaching him he's coaching u. he's not trying to tell bodie how to do it he allready knows. theyre trying to teach YOU how to do it because you probably don't know.

A perfect ski lesson. Useful for transition from intermediate to advance level.
i skied for the first time last year and it was awesome. thanks for the great advice...people like me need it
Bode, your one class act skier. Keep doing what your doing.
thanks so much for this. So needed. You've probably saved someone's life.
Great video, especially the mogul stuff.
Always usefull to watch stuff like this before going on a ski trip

Bode trained at the iciest ski area in possibly all of the northeastern USA, just to let you know. It's no surprise he would know how to ski it...
Aggresive pole planting and look like you know what you're doing...got it.
his coach is so funny on ski sunday!!!
GO ON BODIE!!!!

What kind of ice is a gurney on spring snow ... And the quality of the video is below the plinth ...
hes skiin pretty wide in those mogules... does that help on iced bumps?
hehe love the spandex! thanks for the tips.

damn the video quality in 06 was horrendous
heyyyy this is capitan america!!!!!
Loved the segment on skiing over hard moguls. Too bad the quality was so pooty I couldn't actually see them when he demonstrated it.
Bode may be a great racer but he is not much good in bumps that's for sure.
I dont use polls. should i be?? i feel more free/balanced without em.. who else here doesnt?
yeah well he may b good but he aint canadian my friend :)
Bode is arguably one of the greatest athletes this country has ever produced. But, this is NOT good mogul skiing by any definition.
