You can now get rapid fix sockets which have wago type levers on the backs, I’m not sure if they are doing single gangs like you had here but I would recommend them 100%! So the same torque is applied to each conductor which means they are not loose or over tight.

Hi how do you test a room thermostat when you link it out witch thermals do you put link into.

Hi peter, that will depend entirely on which ones you have... they are all slightly different. Best thing to do is check the manufactures instructions/google the electrical diagram.

@@PlumbingGy hi Dan on a common used one would you put link in L&SL to test it?

I do not want to give you any incorrect information without knowing what’s what, so what I will say is use a multimeter. When the switch is open there will be a voltage difference between the two terminals, when closed there will be a 0 volt difference between the terminals as they are connected to each other.
It might be safer to turn the heating off, disconnect one of the wires and measure the resistance between the terminals. It should be open circuit when the stat is low and approx 0 ohms when stat is high.
Failing this do you have a motorised valve installed? This could be at fault instead of the stat.

Try the multimeter method if you can if not you will have to find out the make an model, google for the manufacturers instructions. Hope this helps in any way.
      Thanks peter
