    Just bought mine today..went out with intention of buying Roland JD XA..tried the Hydrasynth and was blown away by the sounds and the build quality...can't wait for it to arrive..

    The HydraSynth sounds better in person for whatever reason. It can be programmed to sound very warm with its variety of filters and detuning the osc's. Also it's best to get the keyboard version, rather then the module, as many of the patches and after market patches take advantage of its polyphonic after touch and without a keyboard with at least after touch the patches do not play back as programmed. Currently there are not that many controllers sold with poly after touch, so try and get the Hydra Synth keys version. It's a very unique and good sounding new synth.

    Love Hydrasynth! I got mine a week ago, before that, I had the desktop version I sent it back because the Poly aftertouch on the pads is not ideal to fully get that authentic sound. If you are wanting this Synth you need the Keybed version, unless you want to go 16 voices get the desktop too 😁

    Update 1.5 is killer as well. make sure you update!! and see ASM on youtube for all the new features!

    Great demo ! Can’t seem to take my hands off this beauty... The extra sound banks that ASM offers fills all 600 something patches. And the patch manager is super easy to use

    Really enjoyed the sounds from the Hydra and how you play it. I'm going to ask a dumb question that's been on my mind ever since I started watching synths videos. When people such as yourself play short sequences to demo patches, is it improvisation? If not where do you learn these? I'm not into learning classical piano but I'd love to learn and train on some simple and cool sequences like the ones you are performing.

    • @DKS-SYNTH-LAB
      @DKS-SYNTH-LAB  3 роки тому +3

      Yes! For me is all improvised, just power up the instrument and play.. inspired only by the sounds ;)

      @@DKS-SYNTH-LAB That's amazing.. How do you know that a key will sound good though? When I try it it sounds horrible. Do you have to play similar notes with both hands?

      @@dmomcilovic9185 come on, a lot of digital synth and vst sound horrible, I agree that it has changed a lot these last years ;) I know that Nordlead has its fans but I think they sound so plastic and flat, well at least the first editions

    • @jumpingman8160
      @jumpingman8160 3 роки тому

      @@captainpawpawchannel a lot of analogue synths sound horrible as well (and samey). Digital used to have a character that was - and still is - apreciated, as well as some extras that still put the vast analogues synths to shame.
      But this can be said of anything really. There are good and bad in both digital and analogue realms (good and bad fx, good and bad amps, good and bad synths, you name it.
      As for vsts, there are plenty of VSTs out there that sound great (even free ones). But bad VSTs can always sound good with EQ (same thing with analogue synths that sound bad, but will have their ass saved by fx).

      @@DKS-SYNTH-LAB They really did their CS80 homework with the ribbon. Nice idea and a great tool to add further expression.
      I must say, the more I listen to this synth the more I want one...
      Since you've had it under your fingers and probably enjoyed it through headphones as well: Would you personally consider the sound to feel warm in real life or rather cold(ish)?

    • @DKS-SYNTH-LAB

      Yep, two different instrument.. this is more classic synth, with v synth you have a lot of menu diving.. and also you can’t use a poly aftertouch with v synth!

      Depends on your needs.. for some instruments 8 voice are enough.. for example the 6 voice on my ob6 are enough for me on tha type of instrument..

    • @EverettDudgeon138
      @EverettDudgeon138 4 роки тому +2

      Axl Polyphony is overrated

    • @wavesequencer
      @wavesequencer 4 роки тому +1

      Somehow 8 voices is the accepted number in this price range. 16 would be better, but maybe would bump up the CPU/memory requirements to put the synth to over 1500$.. which would be justifiable to me. What people always forget is that polyphony is not just about the number of keys you press.. it's has a huge effect on sounds with long releases.. and it's not always nice to hear notes getting stolen when playing one big chord followed by another (in the other direction, sometimes it's a nice effect to get that voice stealing.. and limiting polyphony to 6 or 4 voices can also be a nice option for certain kind of music). I'm an old fart now and remember when good (digital) synths with 8-16 voice polyphony were around 2000+ USD, 25 years ago..and with inflation that is around 4500 USD - so.. getting both the keyboard and desktop version as an expander for 16 voices seems quite reasonable in my mind.. I would just prefer an integrated solution.. and more keys, ideally 24-32 voices, and bi-timbrality.
