What if a homeless veteran is just a guy who’s been homeless for a very long time?

I am a 100% Disabled Combat Veteran whos been homeless since july 9th 2017 thanks to a wildfire which caused the loss of my home . Insurance refused to cover it citing the California insurance commision allowing Insurance companies to as for seperate policies for wildfire , flood and earthquake due to their frequency here. But my homeowners never once informed me of that or required a seperate policy. So now I have lost all I had and was left with the clothes I had on that day and nothing else. Not all Homeless Vets are Homeless because of PTSD or chemical dependency or self medicating Like many homeless people both veteran and non veteran I am homeless because of Politicians who cater to big corporations and Industry like Insurance Companies. I am now 50, disabled and living on a V. A. Disability that doesnt allow me to put anything away to get back on my feet . We are all victims of corruption and greed of politicians and corporation. Veteran and non Veteran Americans. I hope we can figure out how to come together to fix this for all of us sleeping in cars or in cardboard boxes in the cold because enough is enough ! 3 years ive been homeless and there are many more who have been homeless far longer. this brings again tears to my eyes.... I spent a year and 1/2 in country on a repair barge They call us brown water navy. Not many I meet that can say that. I saw both ends of that country...

I am an Australia ex Vietnam veteran and I was injured and when I came home I was going through the same stuff and I don’t know how I survived if I could not have DVA assistance with my injuries and they pay for all my medications and hospitals and they have to pay for my wheelchair and any other thing they have other things to help me like a 2 week payment which is called a TPI pension for the rest of my life and I was wondering if the USA have the same thing there after listing to the amount of homeless people I don’t know if they are not help for them by the government thank you Michael

On the Vietnam side, 415,000 deaths and over 1,000,000 casualties. I really appreciate judge Caprio, but when we look at the horror of war, we need to remember that mothers everywhere grieve for their killed or wounded sons and daughters.

that only happens when you understand the pain they're going through, I think as a community we should support them in whatever way possible. I'm supporting them through Have NFTs as they are currently working on their betterment we all should contribute.

If they served they always should have a roof over their heads.They always must have healthcare a pension etc etc.

My father was an airman, one uncle was in the army and another uncle was navy, all served in or around country. Much respect to you for keeping me free.
I feel sorry for them too as they retire early and there aren't any programs supporting them. there are some nft related project HAVE nft they're working and contributing towards their growth. hope people join and contribute too .
They do NOT have judges anymore who a more caring and as considerate as the judge. My God continue to bless and guide him in all his endeavors.

Vietnam vets got so screwed over. A lot of people hated them, they were not really supported by the government during the war and then left to fend for themselves among a nation that let them struggle on their own. It is truly a disgrace the way they were treated and yet I thank God for them and what they did. A true no-win situation these men faced. And yet, every one of them will tell you that they just did what they had to do. Theyll say it was long time ago, that it was their duty and they would fight again for us to be able to say the things we say about them, to be able to do the despicable things we do today like burning the flag or kneeling while our National Anthem is playing. They are true heroes and they deserve(d) better. No veteran should ever be homeless, barely able to make it by. We give so much to people who are just lazy and yet, men like this, who gave everything for this country are not taken care of and tossed aside. It's just not right.

The fact that over 10% of ALL homeless people are veterans is heart breaking, so many of our soldiers who put their lives on the line are mistreated and forgotten

Much appreciate Judge Caprio's respect for vets, especially those from the Vietnam era. My dad was in the Navy in WW II and my husband was a Seabee in Vietnam so those vets have a special place in my heart, too.

I remember this problem as I am an Indian visited Philly on a business trip in June 2019 while going on roads saw lot of people with sign board “Homeless Veteran” that tore me apart as I belong to defence background family and here in India Defence people are kept in high regard and they get pension till they are alive after retirement so they can live a better life after retirement..... I used to ask this question to my Manager why USA doesn’t do the same thing with there Veterans.... The people who have sacrificed there youth for nation has all the right to live with dignity after they retire....

Yes, defence people get pension whole life.
And like all govt service I'm assuming after death dependent also get part of that pension.
India is a mixed economy with both capitalist and socialist features.
You do get a pension but only if you serve 20 years, the problem is if they drag you in for war and you want out after your first tour or whatever else unless it's service related I don't think you get anything

Its sad but they tell you that you will get homeless. I was in the infantry and they told me that I was getting prepared to be the most badass homeless man when I get out. That being said, things have changed. I just got out and the VA has been amazing. Its very sad to see the people who fell through the cracks.

I'd like to understand how vets come down to such deplorable state and why no one takes responsibility to ensure a better pay back. "Thank you for your service" doesn't cut it. At all.
They fight for their country. They lose arms and legs. They lose their ability to walk. They lose their minds.
Who's there for them? It seems like they lose their family, get thrown on the streets and the government, who had them fight for their own puposes sometimes, totally neglect them after they come back. Vets, who also suffer from PTSD, must be entitled to phyisical, psichiatric psycological assistance for life.
A lot of them do get free healthcare. The problem is they get next to no disability because of how horrid politicians are. So they have nowhere to go and no way to work.
I am sure Judge Frank never keeps everything he gets ... I am sure when not in the gown he shares his happiness amongst everyone

I took my youngest son to The Wall in 2017. I told him to look at all the names. I said that if a time comes in his life where he is against a war, he needs to speak out. He needs to protest. He needs to shout. BUT, he is never, ever, to protest the ones who are doing the fighting. They are to be honored.
In November, 2018, my oldest son, a soon to be, at the time, history teacher, and I went to France to pay respects to the fallen from WW1 on the centenial of it's end. To see so many crosses, far too many with Unknown as the name on them, brought tears to my eyes.
