Great video again Mark, electrical components fully immersed in fuel will not explode due to the lack of oxygen, same as fuel level sender unit in a car fuel tank, bare variable resistor sending fuel level is bare with 12 volt connection, never the right ratio of fuel and air to cause an explosion. That set up reminds me of set up in rover 75 1.8 petrol tank when replacing the pump in one of those. Thanks for your time making this vid Mark, enjoy watching you fixing stuff. On another note my zzr1100 c1 has fuel level sender unit inside tank, again a bare unit with 12 volts going to it and no explosions :-) the fuel pump lives outside underneath the carbs. Tip, if your two red fuel level warning lights on zzr1100 c1 it is probs your oil pressure sender unit not working, obvious if no oil light illuminates when you first turn the key to on. £22.00 to replace, single wire to unit on sump, not much oil weaps out no need to drain oil just undo and replace, to check it works before you replace it just unbolt cable and hold it to engine/earth with ignition on and a helper viewing the dash the oil pressure switch will come on and the 2 red fuel warning lights will flash on and off. The relay making a clicking noise is located in the tail unit. :-)
6:22 I just finished replacing the fuel pump in my BMW sedan and I too was questioning plugging in the two wires to the fuel pump INSIDE the gas tank, immersed in gas. Turns out, gas does NOT conduct electricity. Of course, if you create a spark next to the gas tank where the fumes can ignite, then it's goodbye mark. Now I need to replace the pump on my Honda, and from what I've seen, the BMW is MUCH easier and faster, maybe 20 minutes if you're slow.
Hi mark. that stainless steel wool is to trap air bubbles from drawning into the pump. the air bubbles produced by the pump return hose cause of cavitation.
Mark, as the comments in the last video stated, the "Kitchen Scrubber" is a pre filter to extend the life of the filter on the pump, Honda put it there, unless you are better at fuel system design than honda, read the manual and put it back
Lol , just like to show that I don't get it right It did run well and still has now all serviced Thanks for watching bud and next week the finished project

Hi Mark - I had 1999 CBR600-FX, which was one of the last carb models and had a fuel pump failure. That one was mounted on the frame outside the tank and was held on with 2 bolts made of cheese. It took longer to drill those one than replace the pump. My local Honda dealer wanted £149 for a new one, so I got a used one on eBay for £15. Sorted. I hope I never have the same problem with my CBF1000-A8 as it too is in the tank. Although you have given me the confidence to try it myself. Out of interest, how did you find that copy pump?
Good as gold , run it for a bit now and it runs fine and starts and primes every time I do these videos to give people like you a little bit of help so you can do it Thanks for watching bud next video All finished and worth a watch
That steel wool is supposed to be in the tank it's for the fuel return I guess I opened mine up today because my fuel pump quit working and was in shock when I seen that but after some research aka google forum search it belongs there I was in shock thinking that was my issue but it wasn't unfortunately now I need to buy a new pump
Hello mark, I have a leaking fuel valve running off the gas tank on my cbr 600f4, I don’t understand why because when I fill up it leaks and then continues to leak until I’m at a half tank of gas. Could you help me?

Some had said this but still odd to find it in the tank lol
The steel wool is a fuel return filter and should be put back on. Comments on your last video sadi this too.
Yes bud I made this after that video and before being told what it was , so I'm not stupid lol
safer connection for wiring submerged in gas are self sealing solder that use heat to melt and seal the solder with insulating glue.
The "steel wool" in the bottom of the tank around the filter, might be to minimize fuel sloshing when the tank is almost dry?

So you just cut the wires of the oem plug and connected them to the new provided plug right ? And just taped them up ? Looking to do the same.
That washing scrub is for suppressing vibration/noise.
