I didn't get hooked by the singles, but then the album came, I listened to "Her Wings" and "The Angel in the Marble", fell in love and then all the songs together made sense as an unity... and it's going to be one of my favourite albums of the year, for sure
Great reaction Bogdan! I also think that the Self-Destruction theme is shown with the gold cracks of the album art. It's similar to Kintsugi, the practice of repairing broken things with gold. It shows the 'history' of the object while the scars have a beauty to them, telling a story while adding strength
i was listening to this again today after photographing them in massachusetts and i’m so glad someone else noticed the conditions vibe i was getting too.
the greatest mistake of my life was my AOTY of 2021, and now this is my AOTY of 2023. scissors, her wings, false dawn and honey moon are fucking stunning. death nonetheless is growing on me, too. also, 7:44 blinding lights vibes anyone?
I've been a fan since Dream Of Me came out and i do have to say this is the first time it's taken a few listens for their songs to click but each time i love it more Crooked Melody and Scissors still grabbed me straight away Also Loocas said this is the end to a trilogy so i'm interested to see what the next arc is.
exact same way for me. i still love the greatest mistake of my life the most, i don’t think anything can beat it. die alone, celebration song, and mourning song cannot be beaten for me.
One of my favorite albums this year! Wasn't a biggest fan of TGMOML and i think that TNAOSD is the best current Holding Absence album. It brought back that self-titled energy in a different way and i loved it.
Holding absence really snuck up on me, I was a fan of a few songs but skeptical at first and now they are a go to for me. Lucas is an incredible writer and made me cry in front of my girlfriend haha so thank you for that
Saw some of this live at their acoustic meet and greet shows. First up, absolutely lovely people but they translate so well live and fuck man Lucas can sing live, been better every time I’ve seen them
As a die hard Holding Absence fan this album is lovely. I think that’s the best way to describe it. TGMOML was perfection though. I really like this album but in order to like it I have to not compare it to the last album and just enjoy the songs for what they are. VERY good songs.
It's just been such a good year for music. I've been hyped for so many albums and almost all of them delivered. (Sadly I didn't care for Currents' new album though)
@@micahbannister1287 that's fair, I don't think currents lived up to The Way it Ends, but there are some absolute monster tunes on it. Same feeling with polaris , doesnt reach previous heights but songs like parasite are unreal haha
@@slushpuppydevil agreed, both Polaris and Currents had such good previous albums that they would be hard pressed to match it. Holding Absence did it though! In my opinion their best album to date, although I'm a sucker for concept albums
I like this album, it’s tough for me though because they’re coming off of an album that’s one of my favorite albums ever (TGMOML) so it was gonna take a lot for it to compare to that album. I think this has a lot of good stuff and I like every song. That being said I think there’s too many build ups that lead nowhere or just to a third chorus. I think this album is missing a bit of the impactful instrumental moments that TGMOML and the first album had.
Sadly I didn't vibe too much with this album on a couple of spins... But I might try it again later maybe I'll be in a different mood and enjoy it :D Btw you should do a reaction to the latest Hollow Front single "We're all left suffering" it's a huuuue slap. Peace!
I’ve always felt Holding Absence make banger albums but not necessarily hit singles, which in my opinion is great. In contrast, a band like Imminence make banger singles but is found lacking on their albums. I am a type of listener who likes listening to albums instead of listening to a playlist of all my liked songs from different artists. I think Holding Absence is a great band, because each song in their album flows really well from one another, making the whole experience magical. They truly epitomize ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’.
Their last album was my AOTY of 2021, so maybe I had too high of hopes, but I’m still not clicking with this album yet. I just feel there’s not enough variety and it doesn’t make a consistent listen. Good songs on their own, but as a full album, not as great as TGMOML.
Been waiting patiently for this one! Thanks for the kind words, dude. xo
Thank you for the amazing music
My brother got the todoroki what a beast
The Angel In The Marble is such a fantastic closing track. Strong album
Probably the best song I've heard in a long time. My favorite on the album.
This album exceeded my expectations and is by far one of my favorite albums this year

The band purposefully used the theme of kintsugi, so you're spot on there!
So many lyric lines in this album that are so powerful and sad. Thats when then album really clicked for me. What a beauty
Didn't think I was going to care too much about this album but I think it's been one of my favourites this year no question!
the chorus in Honey Moon is so good
"Scissors" made me realise that I think I'm a Holding Absence fan now.
Liminal is by far my favourite from this album, great chorus
Liminal is sooo fucking good! Catchy as hell it’s been on repeat nonstop
Holding absence always blows me away I fucking love them so much, I’ve cried to every album
The boys have done it again! Probably their best album to date
Her Wings just does things 😩
Sounds like Conditions and I The Might had a baby... very nice.
i was listening to this again today after photographing them in massachusetts and i’m so glad someone else noticed the conditions vibe i was getting too.

Her wings instantly reminded of the black parade by my chemical romance from its chorus
I'm back months after to say that, this is my album of the year.
Everytime I listen to it, I get chills as if it were the first time all over again.

This album gives me the same feeling as Futures by JEW and brand New Eyes by Paramore - I can't stop listening to it!

Would you consider doing a reaction to their upcoming Tour-mates Capstan?
i love the end of death nonetheless, its so great.
Glad you reacted to this. Easily their best album!

these new dreams chorus its angels

Going to see them live again on the 15th! So stoked 🤘🤘
This album reminds me a lot of HIM's "SCREAMWORKS" album. Which is a good thing!
Album was a vibe for sure! You should check out caskets new album too I really enjoy it!
This is what I wish All Time Low sounded like now
Wake Up Sunshine was so good
Tied with sleep token for my AOTY. Love these boys been going to see them since the EP days and they just keep getting better and better

When’s luminaria
i personally liked the greatest mistake of my life a lot more, it’s 10/10 for me, some songs on this album miss and some hit hard, id give it a 7/10.
Doesn't come close to TGMOML for me, but still a solid album. Wish it had more beautiful open instrumental sections.
Day number 8 of asking Bogdan to review Asking Alexandria’a new album 😂
Any plans for Orbit Culture?
not first
