I bought and downloaded the game yesterday and I have to say: It is so relaxing. The characters are quirky and unique - they have very well written dialogue. The animations of the characters and models are fantastic, they’re very smooth and almost make me forget that they’re not real. Crafting is fairly simplistic and not too overbearing - you can do everything at your own pace. So far I haven’t found a complaint yet with this game. EDIT: Be careful reading the replies they do contain slight spoilers.
Same. Though the only crafting mechanic I have a problem with is the sawmill. Sure, you get planks no matter what, but it’s a little frustrating how precise you have to be with the line tracing.
Cure Hana I have a hard time with the saw mill too but I found that if you get the majority of the line you get 4 planks. Also I just helped one spirit pass into the Evergate. 😭
Just finished this game. Please play it. It's so rewarding when you finish a spirit's questline and get them to the everdoor. It's emotional for me but not in a sobbing histerically way but more of a breakthrough moments here and there like when you realize that even the unpleasant people or spirits you encounter deserve compassion, closure and a listening ear. Not all of the spirits are likeable which I love because it's realistic. And Stella (your character) isn't perfect either and the game humanizes her little by little throughout. This is the perfect game for me ❤.
Even though it's just a game, it kind of felt like I achieved something somewhat tangible for myself, because it made me feel and express sadness and grief, which are emotions that I usually try to ignore or hide. It sounds silly, but I feel like I've grown a bit more as a person after this experience and might shed a few more tears in the future, if I feel sad, instead of suppressing my emotions. Thanks for this great music and this great game!
Agreed as I watched this trailer I thought to myself...I wonder if this game will help me deal better with the passing of my mother. I felt it could give me the opportunity to stop pushing what I feel as far down as I can and confront it. I will most certainly be buying this!
@@RLRussell22 I’m so sorry for your loss! I recommend GRIS for you too. GRIS talks about grief and it does that in a way that will really open you up. as someone who is almost done with my first save; get it if you can. this game is one of the most insanely beautiful things i've ever played. the art is beautiful. the designs are stunning. the story is... it's something else. i've never played a game that has such depth to it. every character has a unique struggle and path they take before you say goodbye to them. it all seems so natural and beautiful. some of the spirits are so well written it hurt immensely to say goodbye to them. there are a few i can think of off the top of my head. and there are many spirits that hit insanely close to home, especially as someone who has many people in my life that struggle with their mental health. this game is not one for the faint of heart, and there are quite a few sensitive topics, however they're handled with a lot of care. i've sobbed my way through a LOT of the stories. this game is amazing. if you're looking for a beautiful, emotional, and just downright enjoyable, get spiritfarer.
Trailer: “Take care of your adorable spirit friends” Me: “omg, yes, they’re so cute!” Also trailer: “Watch your friends pass into the afterlife as you stand by helplessly!” Me: *”...........WUT.”*
This game reminds me so much of a Ghibli film, mostly Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away. From the beginning I already had a sense of how it would end, but the journey is so beautiful. Even though it's definitely tear-jerking, it does leave you with a sense of peace. 10/10, will replay again when I get another box of tissues. 😭❤️

If I could describe this game. Imagine a raw, unfiltered, emotional animal crossing, with a lot larger place to explore and more interaction. Absolutely fell in love with this game! Well done.
Almost 3 years on and this game hits different. I lost my beloved and loyal Labrador companion in June of 22. It was the worst pain and loss I had ever experienced. I didn’t eat or drink for 4 days and had to go on an IV because his death left me grieving severely. I will always miss you Grug. May we reunite when my time comes. This is one of the game that shook me to my very core. A beautiful masterpiece.

Got this game and I am loving it. Yes, there are sad moments, but the chillness of the management part sort of helps move past the heavy and into the next bit.
I love the fact that the main character is black by default! You don’t see that often! Usually the “base” or assumed character is a pale-skinned(usually assumed to be white, or sometimes if its anime-inspired a very light skinned asian). As if a pale-skinned character is more “universally relatable” which couldn’t be further from the truth.
ghost Fair enough, but consider this: I know it may seem small, but especially for young children/teens they notice these things, and will want to look like their fav heros and characters in games and tv shows. So its important that when they do see human characters they begin to see the beauty and uniqueness in features that resemble their own AND others as well. Games are just a small area that this plays out, but is a part of a larger problem: colorism, which has serious real life consequences.
I got this game last year shortly after my grandmother died. The game was truly a breath of fresh air and really helped me move on. The music, the characters, the story, and the smooth mechanics all helped me better enjoy the game and see it as more than a piece art, I saw it as a way of comfort. If you haven't gotten it, you need a way to cope from the loss of a loved one, or just genuinely need a distraction then get this game. The story is told in a way that leaves you always enchanted and laughing from the interactions. The way the game plays is also a good reason to get it as it uses music, humor, and the many quests you can do as a way to keep you constantly moving. All in all, please get this game be it for yourself or for a friend. I would highly recommend it. 100/5 stars
My granny passed last October due to dementia, then my grandpa passed early this year from cancer. It still hurts so much, and I think about her constantly. I just got this game today, I'm hoping it helps me move forward and help alleviate my struggles coping with death.
@@dannydorito4474 I'm so excited for you. There is a character with dementia (she's also a grandmother) so I hope you find some comfort in that. I'm so sorry for your loss and I hope you hang in there.
I’m only here because someone at my work told me about this game. It’s doesn’t seem overly complicated and the graphics and colors look really astounding! 👌
This game has a beautiful message on death. The characters and visuals are stunning. The concept might scare you but I highly encourage people to look past that. It really is so therapeutic and sweet
This game released the day I was flying home after watching my gran pass away. It was hard for me because I don’t believe my gran loved me very much. It wasn’t until a year or two before she died that she seemed to want to know me more. We never got to change anything before she died, it’s hard when you live on opposite sides of the country. I was watching my mom and brother mourn a person they loved very much while I was mourning someone I never got to love. Which, surprisingly, hurts a lot. I found the trailer while I was meant to be sleeping and just felt the timing was impossible to ignore and bought it on my switch for the flight home. This game made letting go a lot easier to let go and eventually understand my own feelings a bit more. Yeah o have plenty of games I will say I love, but this game will always hold a special place in my heart.
Just recently started playing this and WOW. I did not expect to love this game so much, it’s totally worth it and the message behind it is so heartwarming 💜
TBH all three of their games have something to do with death. In Jotun, the main character is a Viking who died ingloriously and has to earn her place in Valhalla through battle. Sundered deals a lot with mortality/immortality at the cost of corrupting your soul and body. The army was trying to save their civilization from dying using Eschaton tech, while the Eschatons are still alive but horribly mutated. Eshe also can't truly die thanks to the Trapezohedron, and the ending choices are: be corrupted and escape, or destroy the portal and die underground.
To anybody curious about whether to buy it or not, do it. It is a beautiful game with great characters and fun gameplay and it it's not super depressing either. Saying goodbye is more of a bittersweet. You know that they are going to a better place but still shed a few tears because you know you'll miss them on your journeys. Overall, do go get the game!!
there is so much beauty and heart in this game...and I think that it doesn't matter who you are, every person that will play this game will be able to feel a part of it. I never had an experience like this game and it will be forever a bright memory.
I had this game bought for me, and I am absolutely in love with it. I have not been able to find anything close to it that insect me in like this game did. 10/5 would play a sequel if it came out
On a side note as a brown girl seeing that the main character of this fantasy game is brown brings me so much joy!!!!!!! I’m not the biggest gamer but I’ll definitely get this💕☁️
I said goodbye to Gwen last night and ugly cried for like ten minutes. I was with my Nana when she passed last November. She truly was my best friend. Gwen's finally conversation reminded me of the fact that there will never be enough time to say everything you want to. My Nana and I had time to say our farewells, even when she couldn't speak in her final days. But even now almost a year later I can't help but reflect and think "I wish I had said this." Idk. This game has already hit me deep and I've only said goodbye to one character lol. It really is a masterpiece.
This game is something truly special. I lost my parents years ago and I thought I had dealt with it because I’d learned to live with some sense of normalcy, but bottling something up is not the same as dealing with it. This game made me realize that and it helped walk me through a healthy and mature acceptance of these things. More than years of therapy ever did. Maybe I just was finally ready or maybe it was because it took me by surprise or maybe because it was in an objective way. Maybe it was because I’m not intimidated by gaming like I am with trying to talk about my feelings. Either way this game is absolutely amazing especially if you’re dealing with loss. ❤
i have never cried harder at any piece of media. Game, movie, show. So incredibly beautiful and therapeudic, especially if youre struggling with losing a loved one.
I was looking into getting this for me and my daughter to play. Then I saw the goodbye stuff....... I still wanna play it with her but damn she will be bawling her eyes out when she needs to say goodbye.
awww the fact that you will play it with your daughter is soooo wholesome it made me smile. but you know even in the lion king simba had to say goodbye not everything is so happy in this world but at least the game made their goodbye seem beautiful

She feels like DC Comic's Death of the Endless. This alone makes me excited for the game.
it's the music... the perfect music to the perfect story, makes me cry so much
I've been waiting for this!
Now Imma wait for Silksong and Cris Tales and my indie wishlist is complete!
I played the cris tales demo on Xbox. I'm sad that I'll have to wait until sometime in November to play it
We playin Indie game BINGO?
My wishlist: cristales, eastward, silksong and spiritfarer
@@pedro_. Agreed, im adding the red lantern, sports story , axiom verge 2 to my list
the music is better then most soundtracks to multi-million dollar cinematic scores. you found a great composer : )
This game blew my mind. Two years later and I'm still thinking about it, just hearing the soundtrack makes me tear up.
Can't believe the contrast between this and Sundered. Love this studio, definitely getting this.
One of the most wholesome games I've seen in a while.
there is so much beauty and heart in this game...and I think that it doesn't matter who you are, every person that will play this game will be able to feel a part of it. I never had an experience like this game and it will be forever a bright memory.
my friend: animal crossing but B O A T
Me: Animal Crossing but D E A T H
Bought and played the game - can confirm, makes you cry! 11/10
a lot of people are gonna end up crying so hard with this one. I felt a bit teary eyed halfway through
Why do I cry when I watch the trailer. Such a beautiful game. Love love love.
Me while watching this: this looks relaxing and cute
After watching it: yo wtf...
I’m not the biggest gamer but I’ll definitely get this💕☁️
I thought the same thing...love to see black female character leads in video games because there are truly not even close to enough.
It is quite refreshing. People say representation doesn't matter but usually those are the people who already have it.
I'm white and I like playing games where the character is white.
@@Markrobinson-bb3ti Of course you do! The character is supposed to be an extension of yourself. =)
This game was a gem. I hope the team does another one like it or makes a sequel
I wish I could experience the feeling of playing this game for the first time again.
The artstyle reminds me of the Tea Dragon Society Books.
oh wow, i thought i was the only one! such a cozy artstyle
reading it now cuz of you. then im gonna buy this game.
This game was so beautiful! I def teared up at the end. Heartwarming
This makes me cry literally every single time I watch it.
Me too. When Stella's escorting the little hedgehog lady. And the mushroom spirit says "I'm really scared", it's just too much.
Yeah I tear up right there. Literally every time. Really it’s every time the music starts.
This is in my Top 3 favourite games ever. If you are thinking about buying it, I hope you read this message and go for it. This is a Masterpiece.
What are your other top 2?
@@Mimlou Super Smash Bros and The Binding of Isaac
Had to buy this game the moment I saw it. Loving it so far!
Can't believe how beautiful the artstyle and the music is
I cried so much during this game, but I would really recommend it.
Hands down one of the best indie game I have played it was long but daily dose of this game worked as stress buster for me.
I started crying at the end I'm sold
Got to play this game finally last year. Was definitely worth it. I'm replaying it currently. This game helped me be less afraid of death.
This video game is very beautiful, just by watching the trailer I already cried ;-; I can't wait to play it
i have never cried harder at any piece of media. Game, movie, show. So incredibly beautiful and therapeudic, especially if youre struggling with losing a loved one.
This game looks so beautiful. Also really happy to see it's more of a management game than a platformer or other type of RPG.
Normally I wouldn't be sold on a game by its intro package cut scene.
...but you really know how to aim for those heartstrings. Damn you. I'm sold...
HEY I WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE CRYING BY THE END WHAT GIVES
I love how you're a ferryman for the dead, but much more wholesome and lighter.
This has nothing to do with its game title, but this gives me a Spirited Away vibe somehow, maybe the music and art style...?
Oh definitely! animal crossing, ori and the blind forest and spirited away piled into one game
And the fact that the spirits also arrive on a boat in spirited away.
@@TheFlush1980 aw yes
a spoke to a random npc and he said „Leaving what could‘ve been is sometimes harder than leaving what has been“ I haven’t been okay since
I was looking into getting this for me and my daughter to play.
