My mother played a KN2000 in our family band for about 13 years. We turned down the drum track and put live drums to it with live vocals. Mom passed away 6 years ago and her old keyboard now resides in my studio. BTW, this keyboard sounds awesome played through a Mackie808S and 4 Peavey PR 15 speakers.
I've had Technics Kn 2000 in 1994 and for those times it was a beautiful keyboard and for me of higher level than Yamaha, Casio or Roland ones. I remember the day in which I've listened to a demo inside a shop of Technics dealer, yet.... It was a great surprise for me listening to those amazing voices inside the Kn2000!!! Soon after only a week I've bought it. Than in 2002 I've bought Technics flagship kn7000, and I play it nowday, also.....
Would you recommend the kn2000 for a young noob. I want a workstation. I only have £100 to spend. Not many workstations for £100. Can I plug it in cubase on pc as midi.. can I plug it into bandlab on my tablet? Does it have a microphone input? Can it record? Does it sample? Can I use it like a vocoder?
@@AliceSkewes Hallo, all these functions we can find inside Kn7000, but even if you can find as used instrument, It will be very difficult at that price of only 100 sterlings. Generally speaking the price is € 650/700 at least!!!!
WOW. I've slept on Technics all of these years. I thought the 01/W had the best pianos of the 90s, then I heard the KN-2000's today and was blown away! I thought Yamaha introduced that display format in response to Korg in the late 90s, then see Technics introduced it as early as 93!🤯 I'm definitely going to add at least one Technics board to my collection.
@Tavi L 🤯 I just fortuitously learned of the PSR-5700 two days ago... now this! I didn't know the PSR series had a pro level model before the PSR-9000 & Tyros. My introduction to the consumer semi-pro arranger market was the PSR-530 & I thought the 730 was the best a PSR got at that time... as great as it was, it was a significant step down. The 6000 sounds incredible almost by today's standard... maybe not completely, but, in my genre, it would fit perfectly. Thanks for the info.
Surely if this mitic brand Technics could have made musical instruments today, in the market we could have beautiful and great Hi Tech keyboards and organs to choose, with all respect with Yamaha Tyros series or Genos and Korg PA series, Roland Bk etc....
Actually the fan on the back of the 2000 is basically for overload and overheated if the Keyboard gets overheated like if it’s outside the fan will automatically kick on but if not if it’s indoors with a C it will stay dormant
i had the kn1000, it had a saxophone sound to die for!! I should have kept it, but no space. It was later moved on for a Alesis 8.1 which was moved on for a Kurzweil K2600 XS. To answer your question which one is the best, i will have to say the 1200! it sounds more real. I take it the 1200 was just the 1000 with general midi support? Shame Techincs are no longer making keyboards, as i think they are very underrated. Never even saw a Kn7000 at all, only read about it, not sure how many were sold compared to the 6500. One thing though, the 7000 looks ugly!
funny thing is i am looking at replacing my casios now with techinics stuff, and a 1200 has come up for sale, a few 2000s too, missed out on a 5000 and a 6000, the plan was to change two casios to roland and korg, but technics are biting me again, if i have the budget, i may buy a 5000 and maybe a 2000 or a 6000 and a 1200 to sit on the floor and go a long, with a tutorial music lesson. so i have 4 keyboards, but get shot later on, but i have a casio ctk 800 that could do that roll if i wish.
haven't seen you in a while. I am thinking of getting another technics or its relative. either the kn6000, panasonic sxmb200, the one with the built in radio I think or the sxkc600 but I can't decide between that and the kn6000, also I am starting a styles project where I make styles from scratch based on technics keyboards but unfortunately the psr 8000, as you know, loses everything after a power cut
@@KMNKeyboardVault I'll see if I can find one, took me ages to get the psr 220 but I might have better luck with the technics. heard the styles on that and I love them, they very much remind me of the panasonic sxmb100 as that keyboard had a few styles from the 6000, I myself have some of those styles, it takes skill to know which notes the orrigenal style had before you can build it from scratch
Really interesting are the very first generations of these, where you can really see they already had a clue where this was going. The KN-800 could be seen as the first Arranger of that quality, it was like the M-1 for Entertainers. But even before that there was the K-Series and the AX5/7. The 1000 and some others rather were a middle range line similar to PSR 550 etc.
KN3000 and KN5000 are fantastic. KN6500 is great too, but it no longer has aftertouch, and it's no longer made in Japan. Maybe it's good that government stopped financing Matsushita Electric's musical instrument department. After all, if it's not made in Japan, what's the point of Technics?

Yamaha actually introduced the big screen in '94 with the psr 6000 a year before the Korg trinity in 95 and after the kn2000 in 1993
