They don't have time to explain it all in anime, but in light novel it was explained that this kind of behaviour is caused by her "pride" skill. That's also why she is refusing to run away from fights if there is a chance of winning.

@@miguelcom13 i mean usually its the other way around its not that uncommon for any character besides the protaginist to hold the plot this anime is one of the few instinces the main character is the ONLY one who realy carries the plot with her fights personality and struggles as the other guys are not nearly as interesting as her

Well since she’s incredibly socially awkward, their conversations would be strange, Megumin would spew a massive paragraph, and Kumoko responds with a head nod, however, if she somehow got drunk, chaos would ensue, since Kumoko doesn’t hold her liquor, she can, she just chooses not to, and... well let’s just say, that at the point in the story where she drinks, you wouldn’t really want to get in her way, an unhinged Kumoko, is truly terrifying, in the WN, she eats a child... I’m not kidding

IIRC in the WN she gets 6 wills, but the LN does that section differently (at that point in the WN she could probably pick a fight with any non-deity in setting and win, so the power scaling kinda breaks while it turns into a pretty good SoL while the other reincarnators catch up to the plot. It looks like the LN keeps the fighting fair.)

And now we get to see the start of her ever growing true power. Can you imagine it? Eight eyes slapping on eight different negative status effects at a time, constantly applying them till they take effect? Better get that ribbon equipped. And thats combined with her boosted attack and defense alongside her normal super poison attacks. Scary spider is a scary spider. Honestly, the only reason I never went in for stat debuff moves in rpgs is that generally its better to use that round to directly attack anyways. But with her parallel minds she can do a cluster bomb of attacks all at once for full effect.
She's basically getting Malboro's Badbreath without the smelly breath.
@@lucielm Precisely! If I were her I might even get any others that exist as I cant recall how many were possible, just to have as many options as possible. You never know when you might have to warp space with your eye like a discount tobito uchiha. *cough* being able to unleash 8 attacks at a time AND being able to swap loadouts means you have too many options for anyone to block them all. Well, short of total magical immunity but how likely is THAT?! *cough*

Also, as a spider, evil eyes are just absolutely perfect! Using only 2 evil eyes is for scrubs, 8 is where it’s at!

@@theautisticartist9370 It is a 24 episode season for it and they're advancing the plot incredibly quickly, skipping most of her grinding and many fights so they will certainly reach later stuff before it ends.

Cant deny i love this spider, but her other classmates still serves as a good world building and contrast to how they bouth pick up / learn abilitys, and building up to the eventual confrontation

Somewhere in some deep, secluded and highly defended cave system in a D&D campaign, a Beholder with an internet connection and servants to work the keyboard for him approves of Kumoko. "This is why we have an eye for every ray!" He exclaims while disintegrating a random servant behind him.

did you noted the strange camera angles from the human parts of the anime?, all the scenes from the human side are from the point of view of kumoko-clones...
it's just a theory but if you read the novel you will understand why it makes sense...

The edgiest edgelord that ever lorded over an edge
I commented back when this came out but despite reading the books and seeing how far she goes, I still say this was probably the scariest power boost she got. Well not just cursed eye, though that is huge, but getting ALL the evil eye skills. Its just a brutal assault on anything she goes up against and shows little sign of whats going on. With some of her evolved eyesight abilities it becomes full stop TERRIFYING as you are literally killed instantly by a monster you never even see and have no warning that you are in danger until you see everyone around you collapsing dead.
Bold move choosing anything but paralysis first. But yay she can use more magic now

This is the First power Kumoko gets that is truly OP right out of the gate.
Sure, the full restore on level up saved her abdomen dozens of times, but she has to survive the fight to use it.
Sure she has a unique ability that boosted her speed stat, but you barely knew it was even there till I told you about it.
Sure, 'Ruler of pride" marks her as the physical embodiment of one of the seven deadly sins in universe, but all it does is provide a blanket boost to all xp gain. (in system anyway, it also does F͏̷͜A̢͏̛T̀̕͡A̛̕L͏̶̡̛͞ ̵͘E͜͠R҉̷̡R̕O̕͟R̢̀̀͠҉!̸̛͠҉͝!҉̀͞ ̴̸̧͝͝ ̴̶́̕̕S̷Ṕ̵̵͟O̸̡̢͘I͞͡͝L̢̢̛̕͢E̴̵̢̕͟R̡͘͟͞S̛̀ ̨Ŗ̛́̕̕E͘D̶̕҉A҉̢͢C̵̡̡̧͞T̵͘͠Ę̀҉D̶͢͏̵͏)

Read the light novel if you are interested, Kumo Desu is in my opinion the best isekai right now.

@@448shh the reason she's being so laid back is because of her Parallel mind skill, even if she didn't have it, she'd go somewhere safe without any creatures nearby to read her stats and even then, she had a "parallel thinking" ability (Y'know, the parallel thinking ability that improved to become parallel minds?) that would help her, plus her foresight would suddenly activate so she would pay attention.

Although the timeline from the first episode is [REDACTED FROM SPOILING], I just want to note that in 6 episodes this spider girl learned Advanced Observation Haki and in this episode 7 learned Amaterasu...
She's speed running power creep! Neither Luffy nor Sasuke pulled that off!
She also has all Sharingan abilities. Genjutsu, technique copying, nocturnal vision, precognition, etc.
HOWEVER, I think she doesn't have photographic memory yet

The ability to inflict so many curses upon one enemy is truely terrifying much less a curse where just a single one is enough to instantly drain the life, mana, stamina, and all from a target so quickly, and the ability to have eight of them with varying effects, no wonder that highly evolved demon spider was so afraid, it realized that it wasn't actually the most powerful one in the dungeon, but also it wasn't the one the humans felt threatened by.
And she's still weak compared to what she will fight in the future.

Cursed Eye level 1: depletes target of all special skills, defense, and HP over a period of 7 seconds, while disorientingand stunning... That's a hell of a level 1 skill. Good choice.
But if you live your life in lava then you out of nowhere are suddenly NOT fireproof........
