If your have done the capstone for torment but are not ready for torment helltides. You can collect your cinders on nightmare find the mystery chest leave game load up in torment and open the chest real fast. Go back to nightmare farm and find the next chest....i did this for 1 day and got about 50% of my ancestral gear which helped me stay in torment.
Much appreciated! I was actually wondering this, but didn’t want to leave at risk of losing all my cinders. During the beta I would do something similar with the world boss. I’d kill the world boss, leave game, comeback, and keep trying until I land in a game where they haven’t finished their world boss yet. It hasn’t worked for me since the beta, but I still try!
You forgot a big tip. On the ground we have various cache items all over the world and they usually contain items/gold/potions. Well if you see one with a RED glow around it in Helltide, it means that the cache contains cinders! So always loot the ones that glow red in helltide, you may get 2-3 or sometimes 6 cinders. Also, they do drop the "Forgotten Souls" and "Fiend Rose" but it is rare.
It's worth mentioning that Fiend Rose also spawns as a harvestable only during Helltide. You actually rode past about 3 of them in the video. So not only does it drop from chests and monsters, but also you can get it straight from the vine.
Another tip. Some events can be farmed for TONS of cinders if you don't rush to complete them. Monsters will keep running at you the entire time. Just keep killing until about 15 sec left in the event, then complete as usual.

Pro tip: find a dungeon or cellar outside an event, do the event go into the dungeon and wait 5 seconds, zone back out and you will be back at a world zone where the event is instantly back up. You can also do this with towns with events right outside. Good luck farming peeps
So how it works is , there’s multiple potential spots for mysterious chests . There’s officially 2 per helltide , 1 in each helltide zone . HOWEVER, mysterious chests reset their spawn locations at every hour . So if the event starts at 2:30 pm , you can spend 30 minutes getting 350 cinders and open the 2 helltide chests , but then the chests respawn at 3 pm and you’ll have another 2 spawn . It IS possible to unlock 4 mysterious chests in 1 helltide event. It’s easier when the events start at the half hour .
Also red glowing chests/breakables etc have cinders. You can also find screaming hell ore veins for forgotten souls and fiend rose plants for fiend roses without even killing enemies
I noticed when the meteorites start dropping from the sky sick around an dodge them an wait. Usually a Mini Boss spawns outta the Lava an its worth fighting them.
Using your guide, its even better now in 1.1.1. Mob density/cinders allowed me to open 3 mystery chests and my inventory is filled with probabilities of those high rolling thiol-it aspects. Missing in this guide as noted below...Do NOT forsake chests or red glowing pustules, sometimes they drop more cinders than a 50 mob group. Refreshing this post because this guy is awesome :P
Helltide on west coast of kehjustan has 3 mystery chests and usually you get lucky with a chest reset in the middle of it so you can get 6 mystery chests in 1 helltide.
I found out about the mystery chest a couple of days ago, I am only level 63 so far and I can clear enough to open at least 2 mystery chest per helltide, You also get a lot of materials just gathering veins etc, the glowing stuff normally drops stuff.

I've seen UA-cam videos of people showing that you can go to an event in the Helltide, complete the event, teleport to town, teleport right back and the event will be up again because teleporting changes the 'instance' that you're in. I haven't tested this myself though so do what you want with that info.
Came back to like and subscribe. GREAT info. The first "Tortured Chest" I opened for 175 gave me 4 legionaries and a unique... I had no idea they existed. I got the D4 planner map up all the time now.... That map is awesome. It also pulses if a world boss is coming soon.
Secret tip for farming cinders: If you find 2+ shamans in a spot, dont kill them; they will continously spawn adds that drop cinders. You can farm cinders fast in one spot, and the more shamans the better ... well, at least until a clueless yoyo comes and kills the shamans.
Also you can run them at tier3 for easier farm and then change to tier 4 when you have 350 cinders and just run to open chests. You don’t lose and cinders when you change tier
Small added tip is that Helltides and whisper gift mission can spawn in the same zones, so should definitely head there when that doubles up. Also I don’t recommend fighting the helltide assassin if you are lower level an alone. It will take 10 minutes and the drop isn’t worth that kind of time.
Ya, I was a 59 barb & I just stumbled upon a lvl 72 boss & it took forever to get it down to the 1st triangle. Thankfully some other players showed up. It didn't drop much gear from what I remember.
Great content--very helpful! 1 quick technical suggestion tho--once you know you're recording, minimize your video monitor. You keep watching yourself as you record, and I think to people who don't realize the cause they think you keep looking up and staring at something the rest of us don't know about lol (it's pretty distracting)
The best way to complete the helltides mystery chests is definitely to go to the side that has four events and just keep riding between them. Don’t wait for them to spawn, just keep moving between the four only stopping for elites on the way for xp. Collect 350 cinders, open up two chests, then start collecting for the other two asap.
@@roronoamoji2794 there is usually 4 chest, the chest rotate like 30 mins into the helltide, so grab the first two, then another 2, sometimes 3 after they reset.
No one is collecting 175 cinders in under 5 min, maybe 8, but not 5. At least not solo. Maybe in a group, but solo you’re dreaming. My best is 22 per min playing twist rogue solo. Events are a huge part of obtaining cinders AND xp, although it’s actually worth clearing all the mobs in between them instead of skipping them like said previously. You’re almost always clearing them with other people which is a huge xp boost on top of the already added xp. Also it’s worth looking for red highlighted tortured souls that drop cinders. I'm a level 75 Sorc and typically farm 350 cinders in T3 and swap to T4 for the mystery chests. Getting one shot in T4 by some off screen charge is devastating to your cinders.

Thanks for the advice and at the very least the mechanics of how this works. I have been stuck in tier 1 waiting for my friend to get to act 4 so we can do it together. On the other hand, I keep leveling up doing random things -- so while it can be a grind, there seems to be a lot of content still out there unless you speed run everything.
Very helpful video. Thank you! I'm level 53 and I've run three Helltides, and so far I've found maybe two pieces of gear that are useful. Most of the gear I find, including legendaries, is hundreds of points below my current gear. It's incredibly disappointing, but at the same time I enjoy doing the Helltides when I run into randoms and we start teaming up.
Helltide is my fav thing to do atm, but currently I can only hold 710 obols and I max those out from 0 every time. There's another site that has a timer that counts down until the chests reset, I started using the site you use because it's cleaner and doesn't have huge ads that randomly play audio. Lol. One thing I also like to do during helltide is every cellar I see, I've had 2 that had 3x treasure trolls in them, and about 5 of them dropped uniques from the mobs inside, and I've yet to find a single unique elsewhere in helltide.
I love Helltides 😍 I love playing Minion Necromancer but switched because I can't get past 1 single Fire Elite in a 21 Nightmare dungeon Yesterday I accompanied someone to a Legion event and he had a 32 ND open (that would be my highest so far), I was looking for my best gear and upgrading my rings (I forgot I could do this up to lvl 68 :D) and I tried it with LV 72 and in the end I succeeded and got a unique ring as a reward. I hoped Mendeln so i would play my minions again, but it was mother's embrace Then I tried 1 Helltide the game crashed 2 times and 1 connection error (PS5) but I continued with events where I got enough for 3 175 chests (one at a time too dangerous with so many crashes) i was able to just open 2, time ran out... But when I wanted to sell the rest betweenthe 2 chests, I found it and had no idea where Mendeln's Ring :D and later Razorblade :D I checked it out later (thanks, PS5 replay) and found the two in the event chests at Helltide Now I will play minoins again 🥰
There is 2 chests per tide and the reset, meaning if you're fast enough you can get 4 chests of mystery opened per hell tide(its doable if you're fast enough, do events)
You are mistaken about one thing. There's one chest in each zone for the first half and last half of helltide. You can get 2 chests before the 30 minute mark and 2 different chests after the 30 min mark.

You can do them _before_ you finish your campaign. You won't get any event info on the map or whatever, so you have to look up on the website where/when they are and hunt down the area.
@dcgregorya5434 [Edit ; my bad, I was doing nightmare helltides, but regular ones]. I saw a thing on a video, looked up the next event when and where, and by working out where that was on my map's unexplored region got to it. Once I was close enough, I just followed the crowd and joined in, and got the cinders and then opened a chest - and got meh legendaries. I'm level 50 and still haven't finished the campaign (too much youtube, not enough gaming). No alerts, no indicators for location, but if you're there you can do it.
1 more tip: Some of the best drops I’ve got during helltide didn’t come from a chest, they came from that little goblin guy who runs away from you dropping gold. He shows up on the map if he’s close. Take it from me, if you see that goblin do everything in your power to kill him.
1 day of helltide with maps/locations brought me from sacred legendaries to full ancestral -except chest. It’s really op if you pick in iii and swap at iv, too easy in fact.. these days the ancestral drop rate seem lower but might be just my luck
Kejistan has 3 chests of mystery per the hour, for a total of 6 possible mystery chests during some helltides Scoglen used to when this vid came out but I think they changed it to 2 last patch, as I've only found 2/4 there lately.. but Kejistan definitely still has 3 and is now the only one that does. I much prefer the helltide that starts halfway through the hour, so you have 30 minutes per set of 2 chests, or 3 in Kejistan, I nearly always get all 6 in Kejistan when its the half hour/half hour timer. But that's probably a preference thing. Personally I wouldn't even count the resources as a secret, let alone a dirty secret. your resource tab tells you where to grind them, for example, and its mentioned one other place as well but I cant remember right now.. But you also forgot to mention the actual dirty secret that I imagine will be patched when blizzard is made aware... farm helltide in world T3 and turn them in in world T4, for a gigantic power boost if you are still 50s-60s, but this does require having T4 opened.. Im not sure how low level a solo can easily do it now post patch, you could try to find someone in town to do it for you as well Edit: Also if you do take advantage of this method, many of the drops from T4 will be too high level for you to use for awhile, my friend found that out after we rushed his campaign lol
I dunno if im hallucinating or just is a bug...but it seems if you create a path to the chest of mysteries on the map so you do t forget where it was..it disappears and relocates itself to a diff location... EDIT: nm the chests disappear and move location halfway thru the helltide.
2 days ago when I farmed hell tides I struggled on nightmare level 4. I saw a video that said farm on nightmare level 3 go back to kyovichad after you get all your cinders and after you find the mystery chest and change to hell tide 4. Then go back and use the senders for the chests. I actually died doing this the first time and lost half of my cinders. I believe I went back to kyovashad changed it back to hell tide 3 and farmed again. At that time I also did not know where the mystery chest was and I found it while in hell tide 3 but not open it until I went back in helltide 4.
I pay for the damn io map and i didnt see that it could actually track and show which chest is available during helltide, is there a setting for that or what?
I just happen to get online every time the Helltide is on it's break. And I usually only have about an hour to play. Damn the luck. Guess I'll be sacrificing some sleep on my next days off.

I’m not sure what it is. Whether it’s the noise gate, attenuation or attack on your mic. There were times it would have a hard time picking up certain words.
The bonus chests seem to reset regardless within ten minutes of the Helltide even ending. Doesn't seem to matter when the event actually started. Could be wrong though.
The chests always rotate at the top of the hour. So it depends when the helltide starts, as to when the rotation will happen during that helltide. Since the helltides spawn every 1 hour and 15 minutes, every 4th helltide will not get a chest rotation.
I’ve gotten a couple good upgrades from the mystery chest but still looking for the ice boots, temerity, and ancestral unique helmet. I have the sacred unique helmet just need the ancestral version. Lvl 72 necro
for first time i run into the heltide boss (big horns on map) and the player spawn it 3 times wile we hacked away, pretty fun :) (otherwise i playd it max 1time )
MYSTERY CHEST: Not sure if he mentioned in the video, but I've noticed that the Mystery chest moves during Helltide. I've come across mystery chests multiple times, fighting around it, and I would put a pin on it just to come back when I had enough cinders. But only for it to be gone. And I've noticed that it happens after 30min of Helltide. SO I think after half of the Helltide time has been active, the Mystery chest moves locations.
You did say 1 chest per area, not sure if you mean 1 chest total but there's 2 chests per heltide. Each helltide has 2 waypoints in it. Each waypoint area has a chest

In my first Helltide i met a guy who directed me to 3 secret chests. was awesome. Fully agree that this is the kind of mmo feeling that helps the game

Before the patch, that mf felt like a world boss to me and after beating it after like 10min, it only dropped a yellow eq🤣
Solid advice. I saw the assassin today in only my second Helltide ever. It was 72, I’m 52 on Hardcore and I was alone. I was like “Nnnnnnnnnooooope!”

Usually takes 5 or so min to collect enough for the chest just randomly running around. Really don't need the events.

One thing I don't see a lot of people mention when you salvage a piece of gear you fully upgraded you get a little of your forgotten souls back
Do ancestry nm dungeons. You will get maxed out aspects AND a good chance for a unique.

One thing I also like to do during helltide is every cellar I see, I've had 2 that had 3x treasure trolls in them, and about 5 of them dropped uniques from the mobs inside, and I've yet to find a single unique elsewhere in helltide.

I love playing Minion Necromancer but switched because I can't get past 1 single Fire Elite in a 21 Nightmare dungeon
Yesterday I accompanied someone to a Legion event and he had a 32 ND open (that would be my highest so far), I was looking for my best gear and upgrading my rings (I forgot I could do this up to lvl 68 :D)
and I tried it with LV 72 and in the end I succeeded and got a unique ring as a reward. I hoped Mendeln so i would play my minions again, but it was mother's embrace
Then I tried 1 Helltide the game crashed 2 times and 1 connection error (PS5) but I continued with events where I got enough for 3 175 chests (one at a time too dangerous with so many crashes) i was able to just open 2, time ran out...
But when I wanted to sell the rest betweenthe 2 chests, I found it and had no idea where Mendeln's Ring :D and later Razorblade :D
I checked it out later (thanks, PS5 replay) and found the two in the event chests at Helltide
Now I will play minoins again 🥰
There is 2 chests per tide and the reset, meaning if you're fast enough you can get 4 chests of mystery opened per hell tide(its doable if you're fast enough, do events)
Some will have 3 mysteries at a time!
You are mistaken about one thing. There's one chest in each zone for the first half and last half of helltide.
You can get 2 chests before the 30 minute mark and 2 different chests after the 30 min mark.
I think it's at the top of the hour. So if the event starts at xx:00 you will not get a second

Helltides events are best farm place for uniques for me. I usually get at least one on my druid and one time i got 4!

Yesterday I got 15 legendary items, 40 forgotten souls and the spectral mount in a single helltide
Spectral mount isnt from helltide. Maybe you got it during a helltide. But its not from them specifically.
Mount is also super common. Ive gotten 6 of them now.

You can do them _before_ you finish your campaign. You won't get any event info on the map or whatever, so you have to look up on the website where/when they are and hunt down the area.
How? You have to be in wt3.

[Edit ; my bad, I was doing nightmare helltides, but regular ones].
I saw a thing on a video, looked up the next event when and where, and by working out where that was on my map's unexplored region got to it.
Once I was close enough, I just followed the crowd and joined in, and got the cinders and then opened a chest - and got meh legendaries.
I'm level 50 and still haven't finished the campaign (too much youtube, not enough gaming).
No alerts, no indicators for location, but if you're there you can do it.

1 more tip: Some of the best drops I’ve got during helltide didn’t come from a chest, they came from that little goblin guy who runs away from you dropping gold. He shows up on the map if he’s close. Take it from me, if you see that goblin do everything in your power to kill him.
I really not sure it's worth it. I have yet to get anything worthwhile... and yet I'm chasing after the bugger when I see him ,lol.😅
1 day of helltide with maps/locations brought me from sacred legendaries to full ancestral -except chest. It’s really op if you pick in iii and swap at iv, too easy in fact.. these days the ancestral drop rate seem lower but might be just my luck

crazziest thing i got from a hell tide was a single hand necro weapon at lvl 65 that has 1500 attack power with all stats +30 on it

Kehjistan can have 3 mystery chests active at once and you can get 6 in a single Helltide.
Kejistan has 3 chests of mystery per the hour, for a total of 6 possible mystery chests during some helltides Scoglen used to when this vid came out but I think they changed it to 2 last patch, as I've only found 2/4 there lately.. but Kejistan definitely still has 3 and is now the only one that does. I much prefer the helltide that starts halfway through the hour, so you have 30 minutes per set of 2 chests, or 3 in Kejistan, I nearly always get all 6 in Kejistan when its the half hour/half hour timer. But that's probably a preference thing.
Personally I wouldn't even count the resources as a secret, let alone a dirty secret. your resource tab tells you where to grind them, for example, and its mentioned one other place as well but I cant remember right now..
But you also forgot to mention the actual dirty secret that I imagine will be patched when blizzard is made aware... farm helltide in world T3 and turn them in in world T4, for a gigantic power boost if you are still 50s-60s, but this does require having T4 opened.. Im not sure how low level a solo can easily do it now post patch, you could try to find someone in town to do it for you as well
Edit: Also if you do take advantage of this method, many of the drops from T4 will be too high level for you to use for awhile, my friend found that out after we rushed his campaign lol

I dunno if im hallucinating or just is a bug...but it seems if you create a path to the chest of mysteries on the map so you do t forget where it was..it disappears and relocates itself to a diff location...
EDIT: nm the chests disappear and move location halfway thru the helltide.

2 days ago when I farmed hell tides I struggled on nightmare level 4. I saw a video that said farm on nightmare level 3 go back to kyovichad after you get all your cinders and after you find the mystery chest and change to hell tide 4. Then go back and use the senders for the chests.
I actually died doing this the first time and lost half of my cinders. I believe I went back to kyovashad changed it back to hell tide 3 and farmed again. At that time I also did not know where the mystery chest was and I found it while in hell tide 3 but not open it until I went back in helltide 4.
My first chest of mysteries I got a bloodless scream and it carried me through world tier 3.

Oh, that's why it went missing. I found the 175 chest early once. Marked its location, went to farm, came back and it was gone :(.

I’m not sure what it is. Whether it’s the noise gate, attenuation or attack on your mic. There were times it would have a hard time picking up certain words.

I feel that. Trying to get Tempest Roar in my Druid. But I’ve salvaged more than half a dozen Vasily’s helms.
The bonus chests seem to reset regardless within ten minutes of the Helltide even ending. Doesn't seem to matter when the event actually started. Could be wrong though.
The chests always rotate at the top of the hour. So it depends when the helltide starts, as to when the rotation will happen during that helltide. Since the helltides spawn every 1 hour and 15 minutes, every 4th helltide will not get a chest rotation.

I’ve gotten a couple good upgrades from the mystery chest but still looking for the ice boots, temerity, and ancestral unique helmet. I have the sacred unique helmet just need the ancestral version. Lvl 72 necro

my lvl75 rogue currently averaging 800 helltides cinders in one go WT4 pen shot build
did my first one got a crossbow ill run for awhile 120 dex on it

for first time i run into the heltide boss (big horns on map) and the player spawn it 3 times wile we hacked away, pretty fun :) (otherwise i playd it max 1time )
I get MAYBE 2 ancestrals per chest. The rest is yellow junk, potions, and mats. Wish I had that much luck in helltides.

They can contain between 2 and 5 legendary items. They are not guaranteed to all be ancestral. At tier 4 they will be sacred and ancestral.
i dropped some funky +4 helmet from the protection chest. its pretty good actualy bc now i can have my bonespeer at +25 lol
MYSTERY CHEST:
Not sure if he mentioned in the video, but I've noticed that the Mystery chest moves during Helltide. I've come across mystery chests multiple times, fighting around it, and I would put a pin on it just to come back when I had enough cinders. But only for it to be gone.
And I've noticed that it happens after 30min of Helltide. SO I think after half of the Helltide time has been active, the Mystery chest moves locations.
Never seen moving mystery chests

Have you tried farming dungeons from strongholds? I've gotten a ring of mendal and more.
Can get that everywhere just gotta be lucky

Helltides are far more efficient from a quality loot and xp perspective.

Now, I had an issue with the d4 map. Did a helltide which displayed the wrong area as to what was I the actual game
You did say 1 chest per area, not sure if you mean 1 chest total but there's 2 chests per heltide. Each helltide has 2 waypoints in it. Each waypoint area has a chest
I got 3 chests yesterday in helltide.
He did say there were two areas in a hell tide (with an additional in one zone) and that one was in each.
You can decon items that you have fully upgraded and sometimes get 1 - 2 forgotten souls back, vendor-ing them is a waste.
Got so many souls at this point I sell for money 😅
