DIY Sofa made out of 2x10s

- This wood framed DIY sofa made from 2x10s is simple and durable, with a modern style. It can be built around almost any sofa cushions you might have or even a single mattress if you want it to double as a daybed. I salvaged some cushions from an ikea sofa whose frame had broken. Pile pillows along the sturdy, solid-wood sides and back to make this a perfect daybed for a couple to lounge on.

This looks pretty cool . The possibilities. you can add a couple of drawers under there for extra storage and maybe a piece of 2×4 as an armrest for the sofa.

Really cool! Amazing how in 3 mins, you showed how to do a couch out of 2×10. It was so well explained. Aweaome video man.
Many thanks for this it was perfect for my 14 year olds attic bedroom nothing prebuilt will go up the stairs so I built it in place another bonus is my tools live up there already so it was a win win I have since built a ply box and a base board and it now houses a mattress and he has a new bed built to his 6ft 4" frame again many thanks.
the top board you cut in half to make a mini arm rest or a place for a soda.. neat idea. might make one for the front porch.
I’m always fascinated by the tools and wood you use.
love it. simple but looks nice.
My dad and I really enjoyed your vid!
so nice to hear! i love working on projects with my dad!
Another awesome project!! Time to find some old Ikea cushions.
Oh yeah.... this is definitely my next project! I just need to get the biscuit joiner.
Very useful and i'm planning to build one myself! --- fan from China
You have great ideas, thank you for the inspirations. Kind regards from Mexico
awesome couch
Me gusto mucho la idea, es muy simple... pero sin duda muy creativo
very good, tanks
New subbie! Adding you to my FAVORITES!
Nice project!
simply beautiful A natural look sofa
*Very nice project.* and easy to do with simple tools :-)
+Jörgen Börg thank you!
Any alternatives to using a biscuit joiner?
maybe drill holes and use wood rods? if you think thats a good alternative, would you happen to know what would a good max depth and max diameter to prevent breaking?
+Alexis Solorzano The wood will be joined more sturdily if you use multiple small dowels along the same plane! (like group 2 next together instead of a biscuit joint).
very cool. well done. nice video. nice project.
God Damn!!!Never seen one of those bisque joiner...Put two railings with cup holders for your beer and, viola! complete...
Damn! I wish have that speed when building things
me encanta lo que haces wow,,,soy tu fans
Very nice!
that's really cool.
Love it! I may use your idea to make one for my tiny house! Thanks!
and after all the hard work , the girl come to enjoy
Now this i can realistically make!! 😍👌🏼 Excellent work!!
A thing you never mentioned but should have because you did follow it would be to make sure you reverse the grains with the boards that you biscuit (or any joint) together. Looking at the ends of the timbers you need to find which way the grain is bending. If it's rolling up to make a U shape then the one next to it has to be the opposite, and alternate between these. This way the natural grain of the timbers won't work together to curve the length you just created
John Grech Good observation John! you are right! i should have. thanks!

Very cool! I will measure to see if the full sofa would fit, but I may customize it down to a single cushion-width lounge chair for my rec/gameroom!
Nice.. Amazing idea
Best channel!
Marcos from Brazil!
This is like my parents old sofa from a now defunct company called This End Up. They love that sofa. Now I basically know how to make that sofa.
Please make a bed! I really want a new cool bed and you make all these things so cool!!
i like your idea ~~ make it in simple way~~
THIS IS NICE FOR A GAMING ROOM
Hey! Could u make like a dummies guide?
Like types of wood and the kinds of tools...
Which wood is good for what ..
What are the minimum requirements for a newbie...
Etc...
Thx!
+Sai Skanda YES! :)

Will power is the main ingredient. I started with harbor freight tools and flea markets. Cheap tools but works. Once you grow and more knowledgeable with tools and kinds of wood, then it's worth getting better tools. Plus with cheap tools you can find out if it's for you and not out off alot money. . Lots might not feel the same but this is my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Great job 👍🏼😎🇹🇹
NICE CLEAN IDEA AND CAN BE LONGER TOO...
This is very great work.
I would not put this inside my house, but I think it would look great in a garden.
Love it!! Great build.
It would be great that your next video be your Home. You should film all your furniture.
simple but fantastic! awesome! this is perfect for my terrace.
You could add drawer like parts to make it a sofa bed whenever you want.
Tip for those who never used a biscuit jointer: put glue in the hole not on the biscuit.
if you do the biscuit will suck up the glue and expand thus making it harder to put it in the hole.
Lovely project! It looks like there is enough room underneath the sofa to add some storage space in the form of pull out drawers, maybe? Good design!
thats pretty cleaver friend
And if rotate this sofa, we can use it like a table
kazakhSheptun but wait...! there's more!

guauuu!!! me quede muda!! excelente trabajo genio!!!
Question: I want to build this identical sofa but 10 feet long. The bottom gram is easy. I can add more feet to support it. How can I make the back strong enough so when people sit in it and lean back it is still strong in the mid section?
If you install hinges instead of glueing the sides, you may also have a bed sofa with no extra work (4 hinges).
Great as always!
I love this, seems easy enough for me to tackle
What kind of saw is that? I don't really know much about building things or the tools needed, but I've always been interested in building things, I don't know what tools are really needed or are good
Really good stuff
This is great, but the only issue I've noticed with these diy sofas is they're they're never upholstered with a spring of some sort which to me, makes for a less comfortable couch. From my experience, any seat made without coils aren't as comfortable because they have no give. It seems impossible to find a detailed video on a sofa built this way.
nice job !
Nice. But very simple.
perhaps this will help me to convert a sofa bed into a regular sofa.
Wow that looks awsome
artesanato em geral
Very good!!!

THIS IS AWESOME...IF I WANTED MAKE THE BACK HIGHER BY TWO MORE 1X10 HOW WOULD I SUPPORT IT? I WANT IT TO LOOK LIKE A SETTEE ..DO YOU KNOW HOW WEIGHT THIS WOULD HOLD? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO LOVE
Very nice bro I like it
Do you think this could be altered into a day bed. I'm trying to find a diy day bed with a higher back and modern look. Thx in a advance, loved the video and idea!

Makes a beginner-level DIY project for the average home user. Uses a biscuit jointer.
Probably the last handheld power tool anyone will own.
