11:15 The std gauge lines don't actually jump over the independent goods tracks, it is a flat junction. If you look closer at the picture you can actually see this.
13:25 Another reason for the end of gravitation yard duties is that the process is now disallowed in the railways. Cars may not be propelled without being attached to a locomotive.
A number of crossovers and switches on the std gauge line are rated for 80kmh trains, something which is rare on the suburban lines - 65kmh is the norm for high speed switches if they're present.
The signalling diagram would not have been orientated towards north because it is standard to have the lines towards Melbourne on the left hand side of a signalling diagram
@@babyboomertwerkteam5662 thanks for mentioning that! I just looked into it more and that actually looks super promising, fingers crossed the electrification project starts soon after!
This video's statement that regional trains always run through Sunshine is incorrect. Ballarat line and Geelong line services always stop at Sunshine. Bendigo line service run through, because they stop at Watergardens (if express) or Sunbury (if stopping all) instead.
Let's be honest here, it makes absolutely no sense for Sunbury to get a dedicated metro tunnel. That's why you have to terminate some at West Footscray. And in the future maybe some can terminate at the airport? Either way, it's dumb.
Could even terminate at Melton or Wyndham if electrified. At this rate, electrification to the western suburbs is more likely to occur than airport /s.
I almost thought bro is the taitset
Thats a good channel.
Even I thought Taitset uploaded
Another great video, in fact the narration is getting better with every video, well done!

Nice work! I learnt a lot. 😎

Great work mate 10/10 video
Very informative, thanks. Man the airport rail needs to be built soon
Nice video. 6:28 is that taken from my video of the 2024 Steamrail Easter train to Bendigo?
Nope that's my own photo
@@VictorianTransportHistory oh nice. We very nearly met.

Could you upload a link into the description to the map/diagram of the area?

VTH: All suburban lines, that matter, are electrified".
Melton: -_-
Also Wyndham: …
But hey, at least they're rebuilding Melton Station with 4 platforms, in anticipation of the Melton line quadruplication.

@@CommissionerManu it seems they want to wait for quadruplication first before they electrify the line
Exactly. Melton DOESN'T matter. Fuck them.
For some reason last week, I got a vline from the CBD that stopped @ Sunshine station

2:10 other way around. same for 6:52. otherwise excellent video.
We used to call it "The suicide yard" .

its incredibly annoying that you didn't flip the map to be north facing, i watched this video upside down so my intuition wouldn't be screwed with
I'll keep that in mind when drawing up the next one
Totty Yd was never a hump yard, only Melb Yd had a Hump
H classes were NEVER used as shunting locos at Tottenham Yard Y class locos were ONLY used at Tottenham Yard. Please get your facts RIGHT 😡😡
A correction is issued in the video, though it is in light weighted text on the picture.
