I use it as my card when other guns cant delete maurice, like, big shot revolver charging? rail gun charging? bring out the nail gun
do I just not feel like dealing with the one cerberus at the other side of the arena? magnet nail gun
I do not use it efficently I know, but having that third wheel when the rest of the guns I rather be using are charging saved my life shit ton of times
also keeps the flow of the battle perfectly, it is very rare to have all 3 things charging being a sitting duck until they come back, witouth the nail gun it would happen way too often
also I like when it breaks the sound of the game

i don't understand, don't all weapons do lots of damage when you use them in combos

I didn't use the Nailgun in a combo. The thing people overlooks the most about the railgun is that when you fire atleast 1 nail or 1 sawblade from the attractor nailgun and immediately switch to overheat, the gauge is automatically filled out and you can burst it instantly. Making this even better, sometimes the overheat nailgun would burst automatically without consuming a burst bar, essentially making it unlimited.
Overheat also burns which is amazing for insurrectionists, and saw blades are extremely good for AoE damage. Sawblades can also proc the bipolar style easier than nails. Finally, enemies that you fired nails at will also boost the damage of the electric railcannon by 0.06 damage, that can all stack up to 6 damage max, which takes 90 nails. To put this into perspective, the electric railcannon deals 8 damage on it's own. Nailgun can turn this into 14 damage. That is more damage than a nuke at point blank. It will also give you the "Conductor" style.
Finally, as I do not know much about the weapon freshness system, I do know that whenever you have a dull weapon and your nailgun is on fresh, notice how fast the nailgun gets dull when you land a lot of hits? I think that's connected to the freshness of other weapons because the dull weapon would instantly become fresh again.
tl;dr, Nailgun is extremely versatile in it's functions and has a lot of uses. People who say it doesn't, doesn't understand how the nailgun works that much.

green saw and nail are equal, just depends on what you're trying to do
