    I have the RT4K as a sort of "nexus point" in my setup where all my consoles have to pass through it (except HDMI 2.1 stuff) on their way to either my CX or my CRT. Which means that yeah, I use it for downscaling! As Bob says the RT4K isn't really DESIGNED to do this, you kinds have to force it to, but aside from the UI scaling I think HD content downscaled to 480p and sent to a CRT is a really lovely way to play games, especially remasters of stuff like Mario Galaxy, Mass Effect or Sonic Origins, or making 480p versions of 2D games via the Classic Mini consoles.
    I haven't tried 240p output because, yeah, that's shrinking things way too far. I think 480p is good if you're not that beholden to scanlines!

      I'm using the Morph 4K with my Super NT, Analogue Duo, Mega Sg, and Sega Saturn (through HD RAD2X). I can't see any reason why you shouldn't consider it at this price point. I'm also using my RetroTink 4K with my PS1Digital, Wii Dual, Windows 98SE machine, and other consoles. I've noticed that the community is so biased and toxic against the Morph 4K, but I'm glad I purchased both and am very happy with my setup.

    I've been a happy user of the MiSTer Analog IO board since the early days. DV is an amazing option, (and I use it in conjunction with the RT4K now, to bypass the built in scaler) but I still continue to use the board's dual output for my CRTs.
    I doubt my monitors are awesome enough to notice much difference here, but I might buy it anyway, just for the psychological reassurance.

    20:00 - Very excited to see the FPGA based Sega Neptune. I've been calling for something like this to come out for over a year. Only thing is, they need to get it officially licensed by Sega, so after 30 years of "delays" it would get an official launch.

    I wish they made a full-size/duplex SD UHS-II (312MB/s) or even UHS-III version of the GCSDSP2, the I/O of cheap mSD cards is just not fast enough for miniDVD optical discs, UHS-III offers 624MB/s (slightly faster than SATA-III) as well as 2-way I/O traffic, which would allow games to be properly played in real-time of the SD card without any stutter, jitter, freezing, slow-load-times (load times should be instant or at least as fast as miniDVD opti discs) and proper audio timings without audio stretching or other audio artefacts that mSD cards exhibit, Dolphin running ISO's perform rock solid once you get past UHS-I speeds, every damn thing uses dog slow microSD with just about reaching 25MB/s R/W speeds and a terrible 2-3 random 4K read speed, yikes, that is terrible for I/O latency.

    Morph is just not selling compared to the Tink - lets face the facts: the Tink is superior in every way. No one wants to buy a retro scaler with the promise of analog support eventually - lets buy what's best for our use case and the Tink simply has all the input support and all the firmware features and support. The xDigital products are top tier for their purpose but the Tink is top tier for scaling. The Morph shouldn't have released as a barebones kit promising the world. It should have waited a year or two and released complete.

    • @KayJay_EU

      I have an OSSC since release and a morph 4k since release. The launch morph 4k FW and the current FW are like 2 completely different products. Added HDR10 is a game changer, easy profile injection and editing through SD card is so much better. I usually see Bob as a reasonable person but his predictions and opinion about the morph is extremely flawed. We got FW updates like every few days after launch, later with longer & more intense updates. Right now with the Morph you get a true 4k scaler at an absolute steal price. By comparison the tink 4k is now overpriced, some people may have a difficult time accepting that especially since Bob repeatedly mentioned how the tink 4k price is reasonable, it's not anymore. The OSSC + Morph 4k combo was cheaper than the tink 4k before the price drop, now the price difference is absurd.

    • @KayJay_EU
      @KayJay_EU 2 місяці тому

      @@mpowerness92 I was referring to Bobs "What you buy is what you get, don't expect FW updates" which is literally proven as being wrong as I described. The sales don't matter to me since I'm a customer, they shouldn't matter to you too since you don't gain any money out of those sales. What matters for us is as I described a potent 4k scaler for a killer price and as I said, the Morph + OSSC combo was already cheaper than the Tink 4k pre-price drop and now the Tink is clearly alot overpriced in comparison.
      The problem is that those UA-cam channels got the tink 4k about a year before everybody else and they expected to get the same privelages when it came to the Morph but they didn't get extra attention compared to the regular customer so no matter how I look at the situation it looks a lot like bias influence. I can't explain the misinformation spread in any other way.

    I wish people gave the OSSC Pro more of a chance. It’s effectively replaced my RT5X and in my opinion the analog output module is pretty second to none at the moment. If you’re a CRT user and don’t need 4k capabilities I’d look REALLY hard at the OSSC Pro. Can make a decent VGA monitor really shine imo

    • @triple_lei
      @triple_lei 3 місяці тому

      My OSSC Pro _almost_ replaced my RT5X, but not entirely. I really miss the fake HDR modes of the RT5X, and 240p-480i dropless switching is a lot simpler on the RT5X. In fact I'm not even sure it's possible on the OSSC Pro at every configuration...

    If the Neptune had MegaCD built-in with 32XCD support (the 32XCD based Neptune is what Sega should have launched post Mega-Drive rather than all the add-on nonsense), I'd be really interested, but you know what would be incredible, if someone recreate the legendary and coveted MegaPC with FPGA/ASIC chips, imagine a classic desktop with both a separate board for a Windows 98se based FPGA PC and one for the SMS/SMD/MCD/32XCD, never gonna be able to get one otherwise, that or a full FPGA recreation of the Sharp X6800 complete with a Sharp monitor recreation (using a 14 inch 4:3 OLED panel and GBS-C scaler perhaps).
