I have one. They are truly one of the top 5 smartest cats. Mine can open doors by jumping on the door handle so I had to install a latch. She seems to understand everything I say and always answers back in a 2 way communication..
I have had 7. I just lost my last one. She was 21! I had 5 of them at the same time. Two brother and a sister and two cousins. Life is sad without them.

@@RexHrothgar1 I am waiting for my life to settle down. Right now I am caring for 6 semi-feral cats. They are very old. I hope to have a couple of Aby’s by next year. I keep an eye out for adults needing homes. I am too old for kittens!
I went to my local shelter wanting to "save" a cat an there was one so I picked her up and only cost me about 180$ to get him checked, vaccinated, sterilized and everything else
@@episttethey are sooo dump and not so talkative compared to a bengalcat we have both bengal is much more intelligent like a dog a bit and much more talkative, a bit too much but our abessynian is very funny, a bit like a squirrel he's fast and dumb hahaha
I got my first Aby in 1989 - I've been blessed to be able to own several throughout my lifetime. They do bring a special joy to the cat lover. They are just so delightful, beautiful, funny, affectionate, intelligent - everything you want in a cat and they all act basically the same way. Of course, different little personalitiies but always delightful in their beauty. Hope I can always have one and then if I pass have someone to inherit. I love the male and female personalities equally. Thanks for sharing. p
Fun Fact: Abyssinian cats were known for guarding temples in Ancient Egypt and Abyssinia (Ethiopia today). They basically are the security guard version of dogs like Police dogs which the German Shepherd is pretty good at
Da Vinci said "Cat's are God's masterpiece." My late abys Magic and Rocky were divine indeed. Many cats, dogs past 67 yrs. but only Magic truly captured my heart. They are a touch of the divine, heaven on earth angels. They are beautiful. Thank you. ❤❤
I know what you mean! Over the past 14 years I've had 4 -- Snoopy, Tinkerbelle, Isis and Ramses. I absolutely love this breed! It is true that once you have one, no other breed will do.
I knew a breeder of Abyssinian and Somali cats and an old lady went to her for a cat. She picked this Abyssinian but the breeder tried to put her off but the old lady insisted. She said what’s his Name the breeder said Turbo. She took the cat but two weeks later she rang the breeder and asked if she could return him. The breeder knew why but asked why. The old lady said he’s driving me mad he never rests. Just like my Abby there weren’t enough hours in the day for him. If there was a fly in the house he couldn’t rest until he caught it, destroying the house in the process running up the curtains etc. I loved him for all that. I used to think he was mad.
Abyssinian means Ethiopia- Somaliland Region of East Africa.. This is the same cat loved by the Pharaohs of Egypt which is depicted in their hieroglyphics or in other words their ancient writings

My Abyssinian opened doors the same way. We ended up changing our door handles to point directly up…

People keep telling me about how rare and pricey these cats are. Meanwhile, I got mine because they were just hanging out in my backyard all the time.
