I still don't know if they're from Egypt I've done so much research. I kinda hope they r. I also heard that they used to have smaller ears and had stripes much like the African wildcat which lived in Egypt
I have had and showed Abbies. They are the most intelligent cat I have had. Kittens are so much fun to watch. They climb the walls, curtains and walls. They will retrieve toys. Most fun. 😊
I rescued an Abyssinian street cat who showed up in my back yard. He was a walking skeleton and crawled into my lap. He was covered in fleas. He was the best cat. He needed to have half his teeth pulled. I can’t imagine what he’d gone through.
Oh my gosh , poor kitty, glad you were there too help him or her. It makes you wonder how a cat could have ended up in that condition. I volunteer cat rescue off and on and have seen a few in similar shape and it makes me angry that people would let there animals get in this condition. Like they did not see there was a problem when it was so obvious
They're just such gorgeous looking cats, a beautiful breed. It's probably my favourite, along with the Egyptian Mao and Bengal, but my own shelter rescue tabby is a sentimental favourite 🤷♀️
Building on the point about them having playful dog-like behavior, another interesting fact is that a lot of them will voluntarily retrieve toys to bring them back to you because they want to play fetch. It isn't something they need to be taught, it's just instinctive in a lot of Abys. Don't expect a game of fetch as you would with a dog though, they like to do it on their own terms. I've had more than one Aby that will literally bring me toys they want thrown, and they'll return them multiple times. I have a female who is totally in love with those little "Nerf Hyper" ammo balls, and she'll often bring me one when she wants to play. They are small and fluorescently colored, so they are bright and easy to see, and actually make great cat toys. The older "Nerf Rival" balls are larger and made of softer foam, so they usually end up in pieces because they love to tear them apart. The Hyper balls are made of a resilient bouncy rubber material rather than foam, so they can't really be easily ripped apart.
I've been blessed to have Aby's since 1989. My two that I have now are 10 and 11 and as I'm getting old I feel that I may not need to get another kitten - unless i can find a good co-owner. My plan is to rescue old hard to adopt shelter cats which I've done and which is very rewarding but I sure cannot see living my life out without an adoring little Aby by my side. I love all cats but Aby's really are the cream of cat companions. Thanks for the great presentation and I did not know that their DNA had been studied. Blessings, >^-^< p
These cats are beautiful . This breed and the bombay or Burmese would definitely be my choice of breeds if I was going for a purebred cat. I still think rescue is the best breed
I really lucked out I found a calico Abyssinian. She had a very unique look to her so I did some research to see what type of breed she was and it matches her to a T I looked up long legged cats. She has a very unique shape, and she’s a calicoe Earl markings are absolutely gorgeous. When I found her, she was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand about eight weeks old. I’ve had her since 911 and she is the most athletic play for crazy cat I’ve ever seen. I set up a climbing wall, leaning against the wall in an obstacle course, and had her running through it, using a toy as a guide, of course, but she’s always ready to play
@@elizabethcsicsery-ronay1633she could be the only one in existence. Her shape , her behavior, ticked coat , intelligence, playfulness. Everything is there.
I had an aby named Oboe and should have got her litter mate to keep her company. On her first birthday she got a tonkinese sister. Now they had playmates, and I had to cat proof the whole house.
I only vaguely remember even knowing this breed exists, so it was all very interesting. They sound like a great cat to own. But I will stick with the ordinary DHC or barn cat of no particular breed. So many of these cats are in shelters needing a home. Some shelters are not no-kill facilities. There are also many of them free for the taking from various private owners. That's where my two recently acquired cats came from. I couldn't afford a special breed cat like the Abssynian anyway. Very interesting, thorough, and well done presentation 👏.
animals evolve over time, and all the general breeds of cats would have changed since 1876 or whatever date it was. it's almost the same way how dogs have so many different "breeds" with all their quirks but they're all the same species.
Hey cat lovers! Which of these facts did you find the most interesting? 😺
The decoded dna!

Abby Cats. Couch Cougars.
Yup
Are they wild?
No. They are a domestic cat. Just like the Siamese and tabby cats.
Love the nick name name. They do look alot like Mini cougars
For reals they moody when you want them up

Aww so adorable😍 hi my friend thank you for sharing such an amazing video. Have a nice day.❤👍👍

Well, they DO have dog-like personalities.
So far my favorite breed of all, is a half half Siamese x Abyssin, they're amazing.

Can't be a purebred Aby. Calico isn't one of their colours. But who knows?

Thank you for the very informative video. I love them so much 😢. I want to see a cross between a sphynx and abyssinian, as those two are too loveable.
Affascinanti e divertenti nello stesso tempo
Grazie ancora per il video istruttivo e interessante

Abyssinian have 4 colors, not a 6, all other color it’s a shade. I’m telling you like a Abyssinian cats breeder.

Zula doesn't look like an Abby, with her small ears.
