This cat Greg is a real one. Love how he gives the inner mental engineering of the sport we all love boxing.. it’s great watching fighters for our entertainment but we also got to remember they are human beings with the same flaws we have. Makes you appreciate each fighter more and the great ones like Andre ward or Floyd even more. Greg- keep it comin man. One of the best boxing pundits in the game.
Man I’m from Dallas, Texas born and raised, but I swear everytime I’m on UA-cam I’m looking for you to be interviewing these Philly fellas. They knowledgeable, experienced in the sport of boxing, and they wholesome. Plus you be asking the right questions to get these guys to speak up not only about the sport but about themselves and they story. Keep grinding man you gonna be BIG TIME one day
I cant get enough of just listening to your perspective on boxing in the ring , the business of it and what a boxer can possibly be going through outside the ring .
A ton of experience and knowledge is the central point of Greg Hackett's live, love listening to him, his experiences, analysing and breaking fights and fighters
Love listening to Greg talking about the sport, especially at the "hoop dreams" level. Boxing is the toughest, most grueling sport there is...the conditioning and physical demands, the pressure, the repetition required to hone your craft...then the courage to climb thru those ropes in front of thousands of eyes waiting to see who embarrasses who, and who takes whose head off. You gotta be born for the fight game. You notice that most of the talented fighters today are the sons of former fighters themselves...guys born to be fighters. So of course you gotta tip your hat to anybody who takes up that sport out of love for it. We may criticize this or that fighter from time to time, but respect them all.
I'm a simple man. I see a video of Greg... I check it knowing I'm not gonna be disappointed. I like the video. I leave with better perspective. Love this guy man.
I understand that cuzz i went thru it. Started boxing at a young age and stopped, then continued in Allentown Pa. But I didn't make it to the golden gloves in Philly back in 96 cuzz I couldn't maintain the 140 lbs weight on and got scratched from the list. So, I went back to the street life back home in Camden New Jersey. Ended back in prison and didn't continue my boxing til I was 39 where I was blessed with an opportunity to make my pro debut and that was all I wanted. So, in essence I didn't have the discipline and was easy to lose interest period. Even when I was training for my pro debut I didn't train like I should have. I would skip days and trained only when I felt like it. So, if I would have had that discipline I would have been good enough to at least win a belt and that's just being honest.
Your videos are great. Loving the light you shed on this gym and what the are doing. This may be the best video you have made so far. I will keep watching them all. Thank you!
I agree how you gon tell somebody how to react when somebody get hit with a bomb. You can't tell someone to shake it off when you aint the one getting hit. Boxing just like any other industry you can experience politics, black balling, burnout, boredom, mental health etc...
GH remind me of the legendary Brother Naazim Richardson ...keeps it too real and all the way 💯 get this man a pod cast so the haters can learn something or have him replace Timothy Bradley spot.
Ward had troubles with a Russian named Kovalev about two times his wins were really convincing to the hardcore boxing fans. So I think makes when people say he retired to avoid fighting Bertebiev and Bivol I don't think they judging him it's the way they are analyzing his situation
That Lil boy in the back going be the truth lmao.. kid got movement imagine being that small training in boots gym. Filled with boxing geniuses all them kids will be nice
Believe it or not tennis is the only sport I can compare to boxing…I saw a guy go undefeated for 8 years got one lost and stopped playing…it’s all on the individual
There is the element of luck that you fail to mention. Only a select few fighters make it because in order to do so one’s career has to follow a perfect trajectory; even the slightest deviation can result in a spectacular crash. Marketing is also a factor. Properly done, you become a star. Just look at Rolando Romero, an awful fighter, who became a household name because he has mastered the art of selling a fight.
Even on an amateur level, boxing requires mental toughness and dedication.

Its easy to judge people but only a rare breed step in the ring or that cage. Hats off to all the fighters.
