    My hairdresser sent out a text after years of no price increase, saying that she was finally increasing her prices by $5. I was so happy for her. I’d been telling her over and over she needs to raise her prices.

    I raised my prices $5.00 and lost two clients. I know I’ll get new people to replace them.

    Nails have really become expensive. I haven’t gotten my nails done in 3 years because it has become out of budget. I do my own nails now. But I get it. Its a luxury.

    My nail tech charged 50$ for acrylic full sets with encapsulations and 3D and all of that. So when I went into a salon and I did all that on a client, they charged 175$ I was shocked. That was 4 years ago

    I just started taking my pricing seriously I always used to “hook my clients up “ with add ons and just charge the minimum when they would get tons of art but this year I told my self to charge accordingly and now it’s hard for me to remind my self because I started a bad habit . Also I’m increasing my prices $5 each year

    Y'all are so fun to watch and I hope your company continues to blow up!

    I just started charging more and lost so many clients unfortunately, fortunately I’ve gained some new clients who appreciate my artwork and precision.

      This is exactly what tends to happen! Those clients that appreciate your quality of work will fill in the spaces of the clients you lost.

    Please do a video on how to practice correctly, should I start doing nails fresh out of school or should I practice on a practice hand first and the start doing clients

      They have a "How to practice nails like a pro" video that you can check out if you haven't seen it. Also I would suggest practicing while you're in school on the practice hand and anyone who would let you practice on them, friends, family, neighbors ect and after you finish school continue to practice. Because not only will you get better, you will get faster and you could practice nail art techniques that you don't normally do that you can offer clients.

    Count of 28,000 in the Midwest Joe overlay runs anywhere from 25 to 35 and a regular polish is $20. Those prices do not do any kind of manicure and have to places don’t even push back cuticles.

    Even if my service at a walk in salon (that’s on every corner) was under 70-75 I still tipped and brought it to that price if they were professional

    What about pedicure price?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  10 місяців тому +1

      Pricing can vary depending on what all you are including in your service. What we would suggest is to determine your price based on your other services and make sure you are charging "per hour" what your other services are bringing in. For example, if you are doing a full set that takes you an hour and you charge $85, a pedicure that takes an hour should also be priced at $85.

    It doesn’t take more time to put a different polish on a nail so I’ve never understood justifying the additional $5 per color. I.E. ring finger a different color.

      Are you a nail tech ?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  10 місяців тому +14

      It may be true that it doesn’t take any longer to apply a second color, but we do recommend charging extra for the additional color since it is another product that you have to pay for and keep in stock. It is an additional service that is above and beyond your basic service. We like to use the example of ordering a pizza to compare it to. When you order a basic cheese pizza, you pay the base price, but when you start adding toppings, each item has an additional charge. They are all going on the same pizza and it doesn’t take any longer to make, but they have to keep all of those ingredients fresh & replace the stock as it runs out. A supreme pizza is above and beyond a simple cheese pizza and will cost more.

      The price of the product is the reason. These products are expensive and nails are a luxury service

    • @chiantimedley6325

      I got licensed in the 90s. Nails are indeed a luxury. I believe in charging for extra product and anything that takes more time. Unless it’s to create a design, opening another bottle of gel isn’t one of them. It’s a CHOICE

    • @chosengirl7593

      The product is NOT expensive and I’ve used many many brands over the years .. When gels first came out you could argue that the tiny bottles were a little higher. That is SIMPLY NOT TRUE anymore .. you can get 20 mani’s out of a bottle .. I just bought a personal stash of say 50 colors gel/laquers .. for myself and it was maybe 300 give or take .. I can’t even anymore with this - “you’re investing in my tine” what in the world does that mean…and no it’s not a real question - I had to go to a different tech (I called in advance - there was a terrible accident on the highway I didn’t move for nearly an hour .. I called the salon 3 times to give status to let the know so they could take walk ins or whatever .. the owner (who I love btw) ..says no worries thanks for letting us know - drive safe we will take care of you whenever you get here, someone will be available - i said thanks so much be there asap..I get there and another tech has me in the pedi bowl and the tech who thought I would be with him asked her something in Vietnamese and she starts yelling at him at the top of her lungs .. I was completely mortified.
      .. If it is skilled art or something a little extra fine .. but even services don’t include a freaking mani anymore - my regular literally dipped her lazy fingers in the water bowl dabbed it on my dry ‘un soaked hands’ and nipped away ..oh ya that was live tissue .. thanks for that..never before until the last few months they ramp up the drill so high they were heating and literally vibrating my nail beds I thought the freaking drill was going to fly out of his hand when it went zip and around and he lost contact with my finger .. it’s about volume / up charge / and if you are a skilled amazing tech or salon you should have a TRUCKLOAD of colors that are new in stock .. that’s part of doing business… yes another reason .. I supplied my own professional colors etc. never passing judgement .. but honestly - the technology makes nail application with a few practice runs something almost anyone could do .. and the g-x etc is not expensive and when you’re making money that product is easily affordable. I buy direct - because I couldn’t even get something’s I looked at a few years back from YN (because I loved watching the videos even though I do believe some is hype and marketing - just like it is at hair shows ..). Because I now live in another state I was not able to purchase product .. good lord. So I purchased from a pro company that was interested in selling product and not locking me out because I never plan to live in Cali and my license after 30 years I let expire.

    What about small town, where people don’t have a lot of money. To charge $70 and more….. ? Big city ok.

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  7 місяців тому +1

      Pricing definitely varies based on your location. You can use what we discussed in this video as a guide for how to charge, but apply it to the dollar range in your location.

    You should come kick some asses here in Portugal since the average here is about 25€ for a gel maintenance 🥲 this is so sad. No one is calculating their prices fair.
