Love my SR9c. I'll never sell it. I originally bought it as an EDC and then it became my do-it-all 9mm.

If you remove the pin at the rear of the grip, you can slide the palm swell down and out and flip it over and slide it up and in for a flat back strap.

Ruger SR9c was my first handgun. I sold it after about 3 years of carrying it because I was interested in another compact handgun that held more rounds in both short mag and full grip mag and it also was easier to field strip (Springfield XDM9 3.8 Compact). I loved the SR9c even if it was recalled due to being susceptible to firing when dropped while a round was in the chamber and the safety was off. I didn't even learn of that until after I sold it. I didn't care, I still liked it, but I didn't have the space to store more than one handgun at a time back then. I miss having the stainless steel barrel contrast the melonite/nitrite black coating of the slide, it was beautiful. I'm currently saving money to buy a stainless steel barrel for my Hellcat so I can have that contrast again, even though I know that melonite/nitrite coatings are better for the longevity of the barrel and firearm. If I could find another SR9c exactly the same as my first I would definitely buy it again. It wasn't until a few years after I bought and sold the handgun that I learned one of the principal rules of firearm ownership: Never sell, only buy another one. lol

Ruger SR40c was my first semiautomatic firearm. I regretted getting rid of it. Last year I picked up both SR9c & SR40c in both Black & Stainless before it was discontinued. I even bought another SR40c as I found one in great condition from Gun Broker so 3 Ruger SR40c. I have a very nice firearm collection so adding these to my collection was a must. This model was ahead of its time having the short barrel with a full-size option with the 15rd magazine. I got into firearms about 12 years ago as I was out with family that had land shooting that day. Unfortunately no one was willing to let me try due to my severe nerve damage as I can’t feel my hands & dexterity is a challenge due to neuropathy. Bought a few firearms on my way home to teach myself at the range. The Ruger SR40c was the first semiautomatic firearm as stated above. 13 years later and lots of training I can shoot very good better than most that I’ve seen at the range. Being a lefty 100% ambidextrous on a firearm is a plus & why I own 9 FN pistols. Great firearm & video. I completely understand the hands being beat up. Mine are as well due to the gate in my walk & numb hands.

My first hand gun was a SR9 10-12 years ago. Last year I finally got a SR9c to go with it. And I have a PC carbine on layaway right now. Yes I am a ruger fanboy. But they make a lot of good stuff. They do also make some junk and some head scratchers that I will not buy.

Thanks for your review of the Ruger SR9C. I'm carrying mine today. It is a reliable and accurate compact.

I found one of these in a pawn shop in Oregon on Armslist, stainless slide and a hard case basically brand new. I love mine.

I wish that Ruger had not abandon the SR 9C for the American pistol. If they had invested a little more time and remove some of the safety off of the pistol it could have really competed with the Glock 19..Thanks for the video..

The back strap you pull the push, the pin out and the bottom of the grip. And once you get your pants careful there's a sleeve in there and you just slide the grip panel down and turn it around and it gives you a flat one. The one that you got there it looks like it's on the bigger swell

Thanks for the video! I used to own a full size SR9, which I enjoyed. I rejected the SR9c out of hand as being a weird size - smaller than the Glock 19 but bigger than the Glock 26. I had no idea there was a 16 round magazine for the SR9C. Now, I won't be so quick to dismiss the compact version.

That backstrap is reverseable. You can remove it and flip it over. Love mine been having it for years!

Had this gun a long time and I shoot it better than any gun I have ever owned or rented. Never a malfunction of any kind.

Thank you for this one! I too have always wanted an SR9, and admire the SR9c since it was said to have a much smoother trigger. That barrel flare at the muzzle improves the tight fit into the slide end at the completion of the cycle. I LIKE a manual safety and I appreciate you mentioning that the pistol is SINGLE ACTION, and fully cocked when racked. Lots of young pistoleros think they are completely safe carrying with the manual safety off. Not really, as any passive internal safety can be defeated with dirt and grit and lint! And, the back-strap IS the extra one too: it flips over for a different flatter profile, and maybe flips end to end also (not sure.)............................elsullo

It is a striker fired gun, the trigger is not a single stage. The striker is only partially reset by recoil, the trigger pull does finish “cocking” the striker. You can see this by watching the cocking indicator on the back of the slide.

I bought a mint condition SR9C with the stainless slide at my LGS for $200. The newer Rugers feel cheap compared to this and my P95

To bad they stopped production. The max 9 is great but i think this one just wins overall.

Just a side note, the SR9C has a safety that keeps the firearm from firing when the mag is removed. All of these safety’s were added to satisfy California requirements! Of course you can (😊ahem )remove it if you so desire. Not that you should, just sayin.

  • @jazzcat1056

The only flaw is the the mag disconnect safety which can be easily removed from the slide by removing the striker and popping it out.

I've heard that the slide on this pistol is very difficult to rack. Is it more difficult than, say, the Ruger Security-9?

    • @TheJimminiShow
      @TheJimminiShow  2 роки тому +2

Its heavier due to an older recoil spring design. But if you can rack a security 9, you can rack this. I have pretty bad nerve damage and I can rack it

I’m sure this has been mentioned but the other variant for the strap is literally on the flip side . One is flat and one is the bump
