  • The Great Eastern Railway 'P43' was a short-lived class of 4-2-2 tender engines, built in 1898 for express passenger trains. But they only lasted 13 years in service.

I don’t know why this class appeals to me so much. It looks like a GWR single that was stolen and modified to be more Great Eastern. I don’t mind how similar it looks, GER locos are just so beautiful.

They're very nice locomotives. It's a shame they didn't last long enough; it would've been great to see one preserved.

I would’ve preserved them, but if they were satisfied for preservation purposes and were still used in steam, what would be the best use for them should they work on the heritage railway?

Is the Caledonian the inspiration for Donald and Douglas?

Not the 4-2-2 No. 123, but rather the '812' class 0-6-0.
