I've only joined Yvea once with her weekly pencil miles and chill, and I learned so much from everyone. Or conversations were so interesting, I learned about butterflies, we discussed martins/weasels family, different birds, bugs, everyone has such varied knowledge. I am looking forward to it again!!
talking about extinction episodes, I am amazed all the time about news stories about finding a new snake species, 3 new bugs, deep undersea creatures, all sorts of things. Also I've seen two recent news stories about something thought extinct for 100 years that have recently been sighted or rediscovered. That gives hope!
Yes that is true and hope is important. A lot of stuff is going extinct before it can be "discovered" or described. Also discovery is a complicated topic because sometimes they are just reclassifying things such as anacondas into controversial new categories and it is not as if a completely new animal is being discovered just they are mincing the taxonomy. The current extinction rate is over a thousand times the normal "Background extinction rate."
