  • Ziff Hudson has been a fixture on the small-tire scene for many years; most notably with his gray-hued Fox Mustang coupe in the Pro 275 ranks as well as the driver of grudge cars like the ZZ Top Mustang. His latest creation is perhaps the wildest one in the fleet and most likely the shiniest-and if you’re familiar with Hudson’s cars over the years, that is a bold statement.
    Teddy Houser Race Cars built a C7 Corvette and Hudson turned to companies like TKM, Menscer Motorsports, and M&M Racing Transmissions along with others to create a powerful and soon-to-be 3-second/200 mph hot rod. The TKM engine is designated a small-block but the dimensions are unknown outside of it being an all-billet masterpiece. A key component to the 4,062 WHP output is a Harts Turbo 140mm boost-maker, which is controlled by Turbosmart electronic wastegates. The FuelTech engine management system is one of the few systems on the market that is capable of controlling the revolutionary new wastegates. In fact, many experts believe it will be a game-changing component to get turbo cars more competitive with the supercharged variants in many outlaw racing categories.
    The shiny Corvette features a FuelTech FT600 engine management system for all of its engine and power management as well as data acquisition. The FT600, FT550, FT550LITE, and FT450 offer a complete line-up of standard features including sequential injection and ignition, O2 Closed Loop, data logger, delay box, Boost Controller, Nitrous Controller, and so much more. FuelTech’s features and capabilities have helped change the game in the aftermarket ECU market, as proven by the success in various motorsports with championships and record-breaking performances.
    With output cracking the 4,000 WHP mark, the engine requires a matching ignition system and the FTSPARK-8 is paired with a set of CDI Racing Ignition coils. Some users run the groundbreaking Gen I system and it is a highly capable ignition system, however, FuelTech replaced it nearly two years ago with the FTSPARK-8 Gen II. The Gen II box offers a minimum and guaranteed 750mj of energy at 140 amps and has been tested up to 850mj in certain applications. FuelTech tests every unit prior to boxing to ensure each one meets the 750mj minimum guarantee. That works out to a 25 percent increase in mj output and a 12.5 percent increase of amps at the primary coil over the FTSPARK Gen I. All Gen I ignition boxes are upgradable to Gen II and it utilizes the same enclosure, making the swap easy and quick.

      Have you two seen the red C7 that has the Fuel Tech dyno record of 5200hp with a 572cid Hemi with twin 102mm turbos on it that car is spotless as well but a car with a 481x with twin 102mm turbos that has the 2nd place with 4600+HP but 4100hp has to be a dyno record for a 4.6 bore space SBC but if I was him I would have the twin 102s instead of the big 140mm turbo just because you can't pedal the car with a huge turbo like that and that is why everyone in NPK stopped running them and went back to twin 88s and twin 98s and just took the weight penalty because the way they had the rules were you had to weigh 3000lbs if you have an all billet big cubic inch big bore space engine and you ran twin turbos and they did the same thing in NHRA Pro Mod class and that was why everyone went to the Big singles like the 140mm turbo on that car and you could weigh like 27 or 2850 and if you have a cast aluminum engine with alot of cid and bore space you can run twins and still weigh less than everyone else with a turbo and the same with the big cubic inch small blocks even if they are all billet atleast in NPK but guys like Ziff and the Reese Brothers figured the 4.6 bore space SBC out and Murder Nova has a little work to do but he has pretty much figured out his 4.5 bore space SBC out and on a good track he can make his car run up front

    That is a work of art All the way around. It has the best tuner and software in the game and don't get me started on the headers/turbo. Unmatched build.

    Mr. Ziff puts so much into his program, he deserves to win a lot more! He did scare the crap out of everyone when he came out with that smallblock! I remember him running around the fastest blower & nitrous cars there! This car is even nicer!

    What happens to shaft speed under charge pipe boost control? I figured it would overspeed when the gate started managing the boost.

      Usually charge pipe boost control is to keep the turbo out of surge. The strategy in the ECU keeps shaft speed under control

      This car made 4,927 on that last pass and it's not at the max boost it can handle so it will max out at close to or a little above 5,200 or so.

    Across the board in nearly every category (for the last 10 years) turbo cars have had a weight penalty vs the field. Without the extra 1-2-3-4-500lb's of weight there would be a whole lot more turbo f#$king going on on the big end. A turbo car doesn't need new tech to be competitie, sure turbos are more involved (harder) to tune for. Turbo's need a even playing field. Yes the gap between turbo's and superchargers has really started to close in earnest in the last year/two... why it's taken so long I'm not sure but it doesn't take a "genius" to see the drag racing asoc. have been afraid to let turbo's run away with victories at the exspense of thier historic supporter base of N2O and blowers.

      @@RustyWells2 Go read some rules. If turbo cars dont have the highest weight they also have limits on boost and or turbo size. I a all out war for max boost the turbo wins and the blower... blows it self up.
      Turbo's are more efficient... fact!

      Think about it another way. Screw blowers are commonly using the largest commonly available rotor (D). Overdrive limits have been really pushed and more tightly regulated since they started exploding from driving so much mass at such high speed. Screw blowers are operating closer to their limit.
      Turbos on the other hand are limited to maybe 88/90 odd mm depending on class and limited in boost to a level where it competes with but is not superior to the D rotor screw. Even precision that only supplies performance turbos has a 118mm but you can easily get your hands on a pair of 140mm turbos. In a boost war the turbos will make more boost and make it more efficiently. Yes the supercharger has better throttle response but that only makes so much impact at WOT. The efficiency of the turbo is easily observed just by listeneing to both operate. A blower car makes a lot more noise not to mention all the power consumed by the crank drive system.
      In the end even if boost is not the limiting factor and the blower could match the turbo for output it is a matter of how much power the engine/head can hold and controling pre-detonation. Again the turbo wins because it didn't consume ~20% of its power to run the power adder and easier to control intake temp.
      Top fuel cars run blowers because of tradition.
      In a open class with no handicap the turbo just wins as well as being more reliable with lower maintenance.

    En france on envoie un peux de nos dans le turbo et oui c est bien de l air qu il veux bha un peut de gaz nos suffit a faire comme ci il y avait 2 moteur nous on a un 106 2L16 s turbo plus le nos qu on envoie direct dedans a petites dose pour eviter d exploser le turbo on en a exploser quelque un mais le garett résiste tant mieux cette 106 de 800 kilos a 800 hoseepower avec nos préparations cher EMS motorssport eux c est des virtuose de la mecanique
