    Just a tip for laptop users: If you set your processor power management to 100% expect extreme overheating. I think 95-98% on maximum is enough and 90% on min also does it good. Even just a few percentage of lowering this from 100% can make your baby run on less heat. Its especially important for us as things are more squeezed together and its much easier for the hardware to heat up.

    There are multiple things in this video that don't really make any sense to do or there's some additional info needed to be said.
    Audio settings: changing format in advanced settings to anything higher than 24 bits 48000hz (which is default) makes no sense if you're not music producer. One reason is that all audio will end up being resampled to no extra benefit and another reason is that if you play any old games (eg. Call of Duty 2) you can encounter stutters or crashes or no audio all together. Mindlessly just putting highest number in the format and forgetting about it could easily make people encounter audio issues and completely forgetting they ever set this and thus having no idea how to fix such problems so just leave it default to prevent running into audio issues.
    Power plans: Ultimate power plan is exactly the same as high performance. It's power plan left over from old days of windows vista which is why it's not shown by default.
    Honestly nowadays even high performance power plan isn't really useful it just wastes power keeping cpu always at 100% clock and if possible in turbo so balanced power plan with adjusting the slider to best performance is much better option that can save a bit of power when browsing web but still keep the responsivity during gaming.
    Multitasking: Turning off window snapping to the sides has absolutely no performance cost while you're gaming and when you alt tab to the desktop to look at something if game drops a frame in the background you don't care it drops frames while you're alt tabbing anyway so having it on or off is just about wanting the feature or not there's no performance hit whatsoever.
    Windows appearance & performance: Again just personal preference. setting best performance just removes animations on windows which can make windows feel snappier but it doesn't increase fps in any way because as long as you play games in native fullscreen not borderless fullscreen then the game is being rendered directly to the screen bypassing any kind of desktop compositing for these animation effects. In borderless fullscreen or windowed mode certain settings in this menu do give some performance in few cases but who plays esports titles where that matters in a window right?
    Cleaning up windows: deleting temp is completely irrelevant to anything other than disk space being taken and windows automatically clears temp folder periodically so no need to do that.
    Disk cleanup: Also completely optional also take note that checking DirectX shader cache will mean it deletes all the already compiled cached shaders so next time you open games you've played you will probably experience more stutter the first time because it will have to recompile all of the shaders on the fly or if game precompiles shaders in the menu/lobby like Warzone you will have to wait minutes for it to recompile everything again. So just take note on that. Sometimes clearing the cache can help resolve visual glitches in games but it's quite rare.
    QuickCPU: completely unnecessary because high performance or ultimate performance power plan already has all of these settings pre configured. Also windows doesn't enable core parking by default on win10 due to bugs in task scheduling and barely any power saving benefit so i assume win 11 is exactly the same unless they suddenly got their $hit together.
    CCleaner: These are very hit or miss. I've found CCleaner break multiple windows installation over the years so personally i've stopped using it years ago but maybe it's fixed now who knows that's just my experience. I just wanna say create windows restore point before using any kind of cleaning tools just in case so you can restore and don't have to reinstall Windows as whole.
    TimerResolution: Programs can adjust timer resolution and many games will do so so i don't really see the point but whatever try it for yourself.
    Defragmenting/trimming: just turn on scheduled optimization and select the drives and windows will do it periodically automatically. For mechanical hard drives it might be better to do it manually because if it's heavily fragmented it can take hours and while it's running it will make the drive feel very unresponsive so running it manually you know it's running and you won't be wondering why suddenly your drive is being 100% used by windows. For SSDs weekly trim is enough for normal use. It's even turned on by default like that but it's good to check it's set since trimming extends life of SSDs and also makes it faster by preparing blocks for writing ahead of time.

    Great video! But you don't need to defrag an SSD due to it's random accessing of stored data. This will (even if small) just negatively effect the lifetime of the drive.

    • @user-super-user
      @user-super-user Рік тому

      defrag is for hdd it will make 0 difference on an ssd
      the reason it makes a difference on a hdd is on a write a hdd writes files to random locations on the pyscial platter and becasue its a moving media defraging moves this data to make it more optimal to access quickly
      on an ssd a defrag just wears it out quicker
