      What ya'll do with a tinnitus cab is they make a special lead lined foam and aluminum foil cover blanket and the sound drops 50%. The whole cab needs treated with this covering for heat and sound.

    My first tractor was a 5020 row crop standard. At the time dad's power tractor was a 5020 wheat land special. His cab was a lot like the cab on your 5010 wheat land special. The Windows that hinge in the back catch lots of air. If you get rained out , that cab's nice to ride home in.

    Drove a 5010 tractor with an Egging cab that had side windows same as front window.Had the same bend in the shift lever so you don’t hit your had on the windshield frame. Drove it for a farmer in 1970 then bought it in 1974 when I went farming in 74 . Traded it in 1977 for new 4630

    Ok this one might need a little paint. The cab kinda grows on ya-at least it’s handy for getting in and out in tight spaces. Keep an eye out for used scaffolding on MP. I see it for reasonable prices all the time. A couple of sections bolted together, add some pneumatic tires and roll it out to pressure wash tractors or get up around the high spots on your combine. Roll it back alongside the barn when you’re not using it. I’ve even seen guys bolt them to old running gear or hay racks so the can tow them where they need it. Yup, you can even use them for what they were intended…working on the side of a building. 😂 Can’t wait to see this one doing field work. 👍🏻

Then later in the 80's they upgraded to the 9400. I was just absolutely in awe and thought it was the coolest thing ever and still do. That started my love for farm tractors and farm equipment. So I know it's just my paranoia, but I'd run the 1-Wire through a CAT oil pressure switch. Not hooked to anything unless the engine is running. The CAT switch can handle 60 or 70 amps OK, so no big deal. Peace of mind if the alternator starts to leak internally, etc.
    Other than that, you are right on target. Re-wire that beast and add more light. LED bar lights high up. No draw to speak of, but plenty of light for early morning, evening and night work 😁

    Stretch, who used to be Chuckie2009 I believe, always believed, on an older tractor, just remove ALL the witring, and start all over. I can undderstand why. After buying and repairing many vehicles, sometimes, you just cant make sense of someone else's hackery. So, with the systems all being fried, and or mouse eaten, you're right on the money JT, just rip it all out, and start fresh. You need one or two power feeds, a bunch of switches, a good ground, and yer done. Don't forget newer gages. An extra wire here or there, fer stereo and power booster, and maybe interior lighting, mood or other, and some decent power for some good to better quality fender lights, a new plug and play fuse panel, and yer done. Rewired, safe and reliable. Paint wise, we all know what yer gonna do. Paint job is coming. Bring it on!

    Hey JT,,,is this tractor considered a Wheatland model? Saw the rounded fenders. How's the 4166?

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873

      4166 is going slow as ever. It’s safe where it’s at for now.
      I believe that is a wheat land. Has the round fenders and all 😉

    Being an 81 year old city boy, I have to ask what might be a silly question. How do you determine which tractor to use for any particular job? I realize there are different size and power rated units but which one do you use for which tasks? Any simple explanation?

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873
      @jtsbarnngrill6873  8 місяців тому +1

      I use the big 4x4s when I need a strongest pull with most traction. Chisel plow, field cultivator, ect. The mid size for the disk, and the smaller cultivator and planting. The smaller ones just for utility projects

      @@jtsbarnngrill6873 Thanks, that makes perfect sense. I realize you have a hobby of fixing up old tractors but do you now have more than you need for actual farming?

    Why don't you send the old starter to motor rewind shop, and have it rewound for 12VDC, to have a spare?

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873
      @jtsbarnngrill6873  Рік тому +1

      I will keep it. Hopefully this starter lasts a long time and I won’t have to worry lol

    You ever thought of planting oats one year in that gield you have wheat in?

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873

      I have, but I don’t have a good market for them in my area

      @jtsbarnngrill6873 well, that would probably be a pretty good reason not to plant them. Pinto beans might not be bad, hell they have those everywhere.
