Drove a 5010 tractor with an Egging cab that had side windows same as front window.Had the same bend in the shift lever so you don’t hit your had on the windshield frame. Drove it for a farmer in 1970 then bought it in 1974 when I went farming in 74 . Traded it in 1977 for new 4630

This was a great way to start my morning. Always fin watching you work! I’m almost done restoring my 1955 John Deere 70LP, it’s been a fun project and I already want to do another.
Ok this one might need a little paint. The cab kinda grows on ya-at least it’s handy for getting in and out in tight spaces. Keep an eye out for used scaffolding on MP. I see it for reasonable prices all the time. A couple of sections bolted together, add some pneumatic tires and roll it out to pressure wash tractors or get up around the high spots on your combine. Roll it back alongside the barn when you’re not using it. I’ve even seen guys bolt them to old running gear or hay racks so the can tow them where they need it. Yup, you can even use them for what they were intended…working on the side of a building. 😂 Can’t wait to see this one doing field work. 👍🏻
Great video, best thing you can do 12 volt system,my starter repair shop told me that the person at Deere who put 24 volt system on in the 60 s should have been fired
I remember ax a kid going up to Iowa to visit family, and playing on the tractors, getting to go out in the field during harvest in JD 8820 combine, he also had a JD 8360, and 4755, and a Massey Fergusson 4880. Then later in the 80's they upgraded to the 9400. I was just absolutely in awe and thought it was the coolest thing ever and still do. That started my love for farm tractors and farm equipment. You’re going to need to buy some more ground to farm with all these beasts! Neighbors had a 5020 stock with factory cab, and a 5020 with a Cozy Cab that had a 7520 head, pump, turbo and intercooler on it. That one was a monster. Had 30.5x32’s on it.
So I know it's just my paranoia, but I'd run the 1-Wire through a CAT oil pressure switch. Not hooked to anything unless the engine is running. The CAT switch can handle 60 or 70 amps OK, so no big deal. Peace of mind if the alternator starts to leak internally, etc. Other than that, you are right on target. Re-wire that beast and add more light. LED bar lights high up. No draw to speak of, but plenty of light for early morning, evening and night work 😁

Stretch, who used to be Chuckie2009 I believe, always believed, on an older tractor, just remove ALL the witring, and start all over. I can undderstand why. After buying and repairing many vehicles, sometimes, you just cant make sense of someone else's hackery. So, with the systems all being fried, and or mouse eaten, you're right on the money JT, just rip it all out, and start fresh. You need one or two power feeds, a bunch of switches, a good ground, and yer done. Don't forget newer gages.
