I am cutting these agates for Michael, he needed some help cutting them and I was happy to do so! Cutting agates and other rocks is a blast and being able to share the excitement of the first look inside with you all is even more enjoyable! Thanks again for watching, Lake Superior agates are my favorite mineral and are the state gemstone of Minnesota. I look forward to getting out rockhounding again as the weather permits, until then, we will be having a blast with our lapidary adventures and will continue to cut rocks and agates on our lapidary saw and use our other lapidary equipment to polish more stones.

    Agate cutting videos are always fun. Kinda like opening Christmas presents. Sometimes you just get socks. I think you should polish the banded agate, the side that looks like an embryo.

    Taylor, I have a box of mid-west agates and Lake Superior Agates hounded by my wife's grandfathers over 50 years ago (along with hundreds of pounds of other rocks). You've inspired me to reinvigorate my rock hobby. I will send you pictures when I find them. maybe send you a couple to cut open!

    The second one looks like the middle is clear Chalcedony, not quartz. Makes that one all the more desirable. If the first one had more color, it would have been the find of the day. I kinda wish you would have put a flashlight angled to it. I understand though, some types of agates I just glance over too; whereas others would be hypnotized by it.

    • @Deadpan_Stan
      @Deadpan_Stan 2 роки тому +1

      What identifies the center as clear Chalcedony over quartz?

    • @kirbycraft9325
      @kirbycraft9325 2 роки тому

      @@Deadpan_Stan It looks like solid glass or milky glass. Quartz in agates almost always; "that I've seen", looks like shattered glass, or has distinctive lines separating the crystals. That's the best way I can think to describe it. It is also much harder, and breaks like the rest of the agate. It is the clear banding in agates, but doesn't tend to mass up like that.

    Saw the stud or dud in the thumb nail and thought this was Cajun Wills channel. He has had stud or dud cutting videos for months.
    Maybe fire or flop - winner or loser - leverite or keeper

      Not sure who that is but I like stud or dud

    • @AgateDad

    • @emdorris3319
      @emdorris3319 2 роки тому +1

      I know what you are speaking about. Wil came up with the stud or dud game a while back and has been cutting rocks and asking our opinion on whether it is a stud or dud before revealing it. Taylor, love your videos, but Stud or Dud belongs to Wil first. It has nothing to do with what your thumbnail looks like vs his.

    • @TheMogjo
      @TheMogjo 2 роки тому +1

      @@emdorris3319 Exactly not a coincidence LOL that Taylor is using the same terms.
      Taylor, not the thumb nails but the terms you are using. Will has been using the Stud or Dud for a while, a long while. Change your term to be fair to another.

    • @emdorris3319
      @emdorris3319 2 роки тому

      @@TheMogjo Yes, I did not like his response back to you, so I felt the need to chime in. It was almost like he was saying, “How dare you compare me to him?” That lol he added in his comment about the thumbnails angered me. It wasn’t right. It was condescending and flippant. I unsubscribed after that.
