Great video! I love it. Plenty of power, excellent micro-adjustment, fast/easy router bit changing, long battery life. It’s a little heavy with the battery, but far lighter than a full size router. It’s small enough to throw in the bag with your cordless drills and batteries. I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to pick one up, because I knew it would be handy and convenient , giving my projects a professional finished look. Love it.
Just picked this router up today. Was already super jazzed to use, but you make it sound like it’s gonna change my (woodworking) life. Can’t wait to put it into action tomorrow!! I liked your delivery; new subscriber! 👍👊
I just purchased this router, but have yet to use it. It is my first cordless router. I would like to add some input on the depth adjustment: I own several routers from top brands. The router I use the most is my father's Craftsman router that is over 40-years old. It has the same depth adjustment system as this DeWalt, and I love it for that. I can very quickly set the bit height and make a sample cut on a scrap piece, Then micro adjust to what depth I want. So, I am not afraid of this type of adjustment at all. And, in fact I think it is a practical and efficient means of setting the depth. Great review!
Man I was really on the fence between this router and the Milwaukee. I ended up going with the Milwaukee for two reasons 1. I am already invested in that platform. 2. The micro adjustment was light years better in my opinion. I've used the DeWalt and it is really nice , I think it has more power than the Milwaukee but the micro adjustment was a little cattiewampus at least in my opinion. Good video brother.
@donneysanner any regrets on buying the Milwaukee router ? Would you recommend? I'm on the m12 platform now. Looking to get m18 or dewalt platform. On the fence with m18 or dewalt xr. Thanks.
Hi i just got the bare kit for under £300 and it came with everything except batteries and charger, i got the plunge base i got both dust ports i got a round shoe for the trim base with a bush plate, i got both rip fences and a very big T-stack box, altogether very worth it I'm well impressed
I love mine... The only big complaint I have is that you need a wrench to change the bit. I would prefer a wrenchless solution but not a dealbreaker. Also I agree on the edge guide
Hi TRZ, I also believe you can fit all of DeWalt corded router accessories on this cordless model (plunger, guide and dust collection) if anyone uses the corded version. I also agree, would have been nice if Dewalt added a few more accessories with this tool. Thanks for the video
Yeah, I have the corded compact router, and I’m sure the plunge base would work with this too. And the guide for use with the track saw track as well. Really love my DeWalt compact!
Just received this one a gift for my birthday (12-5) thank you. Ya bummer there were no bits in there. And a guide would have been great too. All in all I can’t wait to use it!
Just brought the bare DeWalt trim router to replace my dying corded one after watching your review to get some work done. Great review :) For context, here in Australia, came with edge guide, dust collector adapter and secondary face plate.
For the $220 price, they definitely should've added the accessories. Happy to hear it can be used in a plunge base. Lady at Lowes charged me for one when I was asking where the routers were in the store. Lmao. I got it for half off. It's been a year, can't wait to grab this and start using them.

Love the video bro! Still debating on this one or the fuel. I do wish dewalt would throw in what I consider Necessary items to use the tools properly. My cordless planers for instance. No dust collection. That was an extra 40 bucks per connector/elbow and collapsing bag. Good thing I got them cheap or I would have went elsewhere. Despite that...... I love it. It did come with the guide as "bare tool."..... But nothing else. Irks me a bit. Can't wait to see the tool duel! 💪👍

I purchased a Honda gas mower last year 2022. I’ve mowed with it maybe a dozen times. It started surging last week so I tried to take the carburetor out ended up striping the fuel jet screw. Let’s just say parts are impossible to come by. My local Home Depot has already sold back all of their Hondas. I sold mine online when there was only one shop in my whole county that will work and order parts for my Honda (and that was an hour drive and charges $100 just for a carburetor cleaning). I took the sale of my Honda and bought a ryobi! Parts and people willing to work on gas mowers are hard to come by already.

Have to be honest bro, I hate corded tools (especially on my router) the only reason I use a corded router is for my cnc for constant run time, but otherwise cordless is my way if going. That said, it really depends what you are using it for and if it's in your budget bud
I hated the Makita corded router because the base was to small to allow for round over and chamfer bits to be fully used unless you wanted to plunge the bit through the bottom. I also like the see through base plates. For my money this Dewalt cordless along with the 1.25 hp Bosch colt I think are much better options than the Makita.

The edge guide that you can buy for the plunge base is adjustable. There are alternate mounts for the poles, it gives you a couple of different size poles also. In other words, the edge guide for the plunge router can be adjusted to work on several different models...just NOT for the original base that comes with the routers. They put al of the adjustability on the edge guide so that they can save money by only having to make one accessory for multiple bases. But they DIDN'T make it adjustable to the bases that come with the routers...so that the money saved by the adjustability is for them...and never for you. I told you I was about to piss you off.
I need to replace one of my corded routers but have always been unsure on how long a battery would last in a router. Disregarding all the variables affecting the charge time, what have you found for run time on a battery charge?
I know I’m late but I just got mine a few days ago and with a 5.0ah battery I was doing edges for about 30 minutes straight and it lost 1 bar of battery. It will go for quite a long time.

I was looking at this router at lowes I like it but I noticed as well the micro adjustment has to be used all the time compared to how the Milwaukee is made I think I might buy the dewalt as well as the Milwaukee fuel
Do you know the screw size for the screws that connect the router to the sub base? Looking to build a jig for this router, but I need a longer screw but can't find the size anywhere. Thanks!
Ahhj man, I really don't Zak. I had to send this back after the review, but I'm sure they could be something in the manual. If not, I would call dewalt and ask. Sorry bro
Interesting you didn't get all the add on accessories. I'm in the UK and mine, which I just bought, came with all the extras except the actual dust bag. That said, I have others which will do the job.. Mine also came in a T Stack box. Maybe I paid alot more, I have no idea but I got it for £288 (about $350 at today's rates). Yet to use it but it both looks good and feels nice in the hand.
In 2022: in UK I just bought from Amazon the near identical 604 model for £309 or approx $330 USD. No batt or charger, but it came with the plunge base accessory, edge guide, dust extraction adapter and big TStak hard case with moulded insert. Prices do fluctuate and some sellers charge upto 30% more for the same kit. The whole machine oozes Dewalt’s usual solid build quality, not cheap, but good value for that coin. Being new to Router use, I need to research some good bits. So far, the quality brands are far too expensive for a whole set, being typically around 30 to 40 bucks per bit; a few bits would soon out price the tool itself.
The included clear base ( shoe ) is NOT able to accomodate router guide bushings. They sell THAT separately PN DNP613. Dust collector PNDNP615. For 199.99 when not on sale, for a bare tool only, it is not a great VALUE. For 199.00, include NEEDED items... Still a BARE TOOL... or offer as a KIT with plunge base, 5AH battery, charger and a carry bag ( plastic cases waste space ) for 299.00

Can I use their 18 battery in it?
i want to see the lown craftsman cordless nailgun.
Why doesn’t come with bit?
The included clear base ( shoe ) is NOT able to accomodate router guide bushings. They sell THAT separately PN DNP613. Dust collector PNDNP615. For 199.99 when not on sale, for a bare tool only, it is not a great VALUE. For 199.00, include NEEDED items... Still a BARE TOOL... or offer as a KIT with plunge base, 5AH battery, charger and a carry bag ( plastic cases waste space ) for 299.00
TRZ really appreciate your review. I think I’m going with Milwaukee..... Thank You!
got his router, while it certainly has a ton of power, im disappointed the base plate diameter does not fit any 45 degree bits.
So beautiful
