As an anniversary season, I decided that I had to go back and watch the series that inspired her, Mahou Sentai Magiranger! Today I'm here to give all my thoughts on the season! Fun fact: The first part of each of the siblings’ names spell out “Mahoutsukai” and with their last name, it’s a reference to “the Wizard of Oz” which in Japanese is “Mahoutsukai no Ozu.”

Fun fact: Ayumi Beppu who played MagiPink was auditioning for the role of MagiRed but took the role of MagiPink instead. This was a reference from an episode where Kai and Houka switch bodies.
I'm a bit curious as to why the actress was taking a role that was obviously male-aimed (not trying to be sexist, just curious...)

Magiranger, truly, is wonderful. In a meta sense, it is the sendoff series to the "Queen of Toku Villains", Machiko Soga. Who passed away at the same time while the series was running, and had one of her last works in Tokusatsu as Magiel. Ah, it makes me teary eyed to think on how many roles Machiko-san can play if she was still with us today.

The funniest I watched is definitely Abaranger for sure
Even though tbubasa was the least interesting magi ranger , he had the best Arc with the cyclops fight. The suffering and stress he goes through as he losses his siblings one by one is still one of my favorite toku moments of all time.
And whats ironic is that his Power Rangers counterpart Chip is INSANELY well liked, mainly because 1) hes A LOT more likeable and charismatic 2) his superhero fanboy nature is extremely endearing 3) hes one of the few male Yellow rangers
It makes sense why Watchmojo voted himn the 4th best yellow ranger despite Mystic Force being rather mixed

Only at ep 23, but man, tsubasa was designed to be the annoying shit elder (not eldest) brother. But he is willing to sacrifice big, even to a kid he just knows from the gym where he trains. He's the sibling that's risking his life not fighting head on, but paying with his own life, risking it just to gain more playing cards (The time magic curse for example).
It's contrasting to his lame-ass intro I guess of being one of the two siblings that chickened out at first. I can't blame people who are stuck with first impressions as sadly, humans work that way unless they spent time (sometimes forcibly) with that person that's a turn off. It's always about the growth for me.
Too bad Mystic Force has one of the worst theme songs.
I guess the one thing similar about both Magiranger and Mystic Force; is the Green Ranger being the best. Xander and Makito are both awesome.
This series was funny, had a lot of grow between characters, with personalities well defined, some interesting backstories and really charming adventure. 7.5/10.

Oh Yes! Magiranger is definitely one of my Top Five Sentai. Plus, I love the magic fantasy theme and the family dynamic.
I gotta admit *THIS SERIES* was *THE MOST ENJOYABLE* Series I've ever watched alongside Gokaiger
The story is actually good, The Sibling protagonists and their Personalities are really well written, And it has *THE BEST REDEMPTION ARC* I've ever seen in any of the Sentai Series ever (Well....Besides Dr. Ashura of Liveman)
Makito's anxiety about bringing up the rear was misplaced, I see it as having his sibling's backs no matter what. He struck me as the guy you'd go to when you have problems, like with bullies at school or when you just need someone to talk to.

A few corrections (hope you don't mind, I loved the video ;w;):
-It was actually Miyuki's ice arrows hitting Wolzard that caused him to temporarily gain his memories back, not something that happened on a whim. Also counts as a small moment of awesome/horrific when you realize that Miyuki likely recognized him (his suit is basically just a recolor, even noted by the siblings when he turns into Wolzard Fire).
-Kai and Makito's special powers are transmutation and plant control, respectively.
Also can we talk about the music? Holy Holy Night and Bloody Friday Nightmare are my absolute favorites, and the theme song is not "in your face" like most tend to be.
Personally I think he didn’t gain Wolzard fire until after he become Wolzard then rin and Hikaru or meemy would have recognized him
Think the funniest thing of magi ranger is how they use old fashioned dialect to bypass censor laws. Like Wolzard straight up consistently calls Meemy a bitch multiple times to his face. He just gets around it by calling him a cur instead. It’s such a funny way to get past censors
Magiranger is a MASTERPIECE!
This is my first ever Sentai series I've ever watched since childhood. One of my favorite Super Sentai and until now in my 20's, I still love the series to the point that I watched it for the nth time.
This makes me love Magiranger even more, Mystic force may have a scrapped theme song, but Magiranger has family love!
I love the sibling dynamic of this show. I think the other sentai that featured siblings was Five Man.

i personally finished mahou sentai magiranger yesterdat, i really enjoyed it lol. the humor of the season is great like when tsubasa gets shocked about the fact that makito can speak fluent english and when yamazaki asked if kai saw [redacted]. i also feel like that they carried the message of "courage" and "family" pretty good
Magiranger is one of my favourite super sentai seasons as well.

Magiranger is one of the first seasons of Sentai i’ve ever watched back in the day when it was on YT and after rewatching it it’s still my favorite Sentai season ever

I watched this season first time in 2013 and I fallen love with it. I had dark time with my life back then and that made happines to me. I smile every time when Ozu Houka yels yahoo! She is my favorite character by the way.
This was the first complete sentai I ever watched. I loved it. It's still one of my favorites.

Mystic Force is most special series to me because it's the only season my Mother watched with me when I was a kid and actually liked it ❤️❤️!!
I prefered MagiRanger over Mystics Force. I didn't grow up watching Mystic Force (I had SPD and Dino Thunder instead) so I don't have nostalgia coloring my few memories of the series as much as you might have.
I really enjoyed how each character in Magiranger had a chance to shine and have individual character growth. From my few memories with Mystic Force, I know they put a lot of focus on the Red Ranger, and the other characters kinda got thrown to the wayside. The only other character I remember is Chip, and that's because I had a crush on him. With Magiranger, each character had a distinct personality that was effected by the growing stakes of their battle against the Infersia. I don't think you learn anything more about the Mystic force characters other than their base characteristic except for Red Ranger's out-of-nowhere parentage plotline.
The focus on family really grounded Magiranger, because it's such a universal concept that you can relate to or understand even if you don't have siblings. I think the Wolzard = Dad plotline was foreshadowed well, but hit all the more because we've spent so much time with the kids and we can plainly see how much their father's disappearance and sudden return has effected them. I wasn't upset by the return of the mother because I saw it as an accentuation of the core theme of familial love. Wolzard's true self loved his wife so much that he was able to break free momentarily to save her. I vaguely remember there being scenes when Wolzard's true self starts to effect his interactions with the rangers, so there was precedent for the reveal. Hikari was always too much of a stick in the mud for me, but his interactions with the Genie and Urara helped warm me up to him just a bit by the end.

Mainly because the cast members of Magiranger didn't really get along with each other in real-life and Makito's actor was a total diva in real-life.

I loved your video! It is funny you mentioned Mystic Force as your first season of PR etc, because Magiranger was what made me remember those much I loved sentai and reignited my Toku love ! You see, I grew up in Brazil around the largest Japanese community outside of Japan and where we got sentai long before Pr was a thing. My firsts were changeman and flashman. So, opposite of you, when Saban bought all international rights I (along with many fans I might add, so much so that a BR company bought rights to several TOEI shows to release and create own content like metal hero shows for L.A.) i was furious to find out maskman was last series I would watch original version on network TV, so I swore off PR for years (and it never became as popular there as sentai, as an example a rerun of changeman and flashman finally back on net TV in BR last year gave the channel an increase of 150% in weekend audiences!!). For some reason I found out about magiranger, became a member of rangerboard and I just fell in love with this show as an adult. Just as you said, one of the main reasons was the family dynamics, but overall was the attention to detail and storytelling. The fact that they created a language for the spells for example, and it carried through with each new developed spell and upgrade of same (Maji Jiruma Maji JInga Jinga : Magiking Number One ! HAS STUCK IN MY BRAIN EVER SINCE). In contrast to another sentai I watched as a kid when it originally aired, and was also centered in family, magiranger also became my favorite sentai of all time and first I shared with my kid. It's message is universal, but the way it presented it was so unique that I shared it with my younger brother (reigniting his own love for toku in general) and then with my own family and just as you we each have our favorite character. I will look at your other videos, not sure if you watched flashman so would hate to spoil it but was my favorite as a kid although it's focus on family was pretty much the opposite as magiranger (and I probably would still cry as a grown man if I had to watch that ending again. If you thought magimother alive was a twist and not a high point at that, I guess you should not watch flashman after ALL). Anyway, thank you for your video and all the memories it brought watching the series through your eyes!!!! I am happy that more fans are still discovering magiranger so many years after it aired thanks to zeikager ☺️ (BTW I loved Magi so much I did watch Mystic Force after, and void of childhood naivete and with high expectation from magi thought was a huuuuge letdown. From condensing episodes, to losing family focus, to centering on red for no reason because of that, to then surprise orphan kid your magic mentor was mom all along and big bad is dad, to all possibly cool things like Celtic spells just getting forgotten between episodes... the one thing they did have better than magi was their uniforms). I would love to know if they launched a remastered version of Mahou Sentai Magiranger in HD?!?
Magiranger. 1000+ Times Better Than Mystic Force.
I was a huge fan of Power Rangers mystic force when I was a kid, I was excited to see them incorporate a high focus of magic in a power rangers series. I had to see where it came from.
Mahou Sentai Magiranger caught me completely off guard, such great character development, unique villains, and the fact that the initial team were all siblings made it even better, it gave me a sense of how a strong a sibling bond (or a family bond) can be like.
Of course my first thought when the family is introduced is that Miyuki doesn’t even look remotely old enough to be the mother of 5 grown kids, but of course Asians can look like they are 30 until they are 70 lmao 😂

Magiranger has one of the coolest design for the suit
I think they kinda feel off since the suit actors were kinda very wide compared to most of the siblings (tsubasa and kai's suit actors were twice as thicc lmao). But man, the helmets were the most stylized and personally the most complex patterns that are epic.
When it comes to suit though, wolzard is the closest thing to a perfect super sentai outfit. Kamen rider does beat super sentai when it comes to heavier armoring and thus Wolzard will always be near the top of suit rankings in all of SS.

Nice review and also magiranger is my fav number 1 super sentai because magiranger is my first series I watch complete compare most of other sentai I watch when I still kid I only watch 10-20 ep than stop but not magiranger. I started watching magiranger when 1 years later magiranger complete but at that time I only have couple of dvd until I was 14 years old I completed all magiranger ep from one of the UA-cam channel that no more exist. Until this day magiranger still my fav number 1 super sentai

I have two other Sentai that i need to watch first but i'll get to Magiranger (and the second half of the Disney era adaptions) eventually.
Magiranger is definitely in my top 5 sentai that I'm most familiar with (Gaoranger - Gokaiger). It's one that I can rewatch over and over.
Out of all team-ups I've seen, I'd say Magi vs Deka was my favorite.
10 months later, Magiranger was my first Sentai season, I watched all Sentai seasons, and even finished Kamen Rider. Man, if it wasn't for this video I wouldn't have been a Toku fan.

Ok actually I've never finished this series so it's time to finally do it. On the other hand Mystic Force always hold special place in my heart. Even tho it was getting mixed reaction and it was too red-focused series that I kinda disliked. Well Xander is my fav character.
It's the first power rangers that I watched at the same time with its airing time cause usually we have to wait a year to watch power ranger series in my country.
Magiranger is in my top 5, it's just that damn good.
Looking back on this a little funny story my parents told me was that my older brother when he was little watched magiranger past midnight so I guess it’s a FAMILY favorite

This one has to be one of the first 5 super sentai shows I watched years ago around Gokaiger was airing. It is one of my faves mostly for the whole "Courage is Magic" and family bonds they have. Part of me wish more shows were like it but also glad some didn't cause sometiems that not what the story need plus seeing how some other shows did it and I still don't like them as much as magiranger or other teams lol
